SAMCROW AND THE SURFRIDER SHOW
I just felt the overwhelming urge to wax lyrical about the solid slab of pure genius that is SONS OF ANARCHY. If you are not even aware of this fantastic TV show’s existence, please click elsewhere – and may I suggest you try the Disney or Lifetime websites. The Sons Of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwoord Originals are slowly consuming my world. And I’m not even particularly a Harley guy. I mean I LOVE em being ridden by other people. They look and sound so iconic. I just prefer to ride a different type of bike. But I find myself staring a Jax’s Dyna Glide and wondering what one would look like in my garage. And coming from a crotch-rocket, Jap in-line four background like mine, that says something. For a TV show to start me thinking about Harleys….. well, I never thought that would happen. Ron Perlman, Katy Segal and the rest of the cast are just amazing and the way the stories are delivered keeps me glued to the screen. Long live SAMCROW.
Other news - Camp Freddy will be playing at the Surfrider 25th Anniversary Gala in Los Angeles on October 9th. TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE BY CLICKING HERE.We will be putting together a great line up for this one, so if you can, come down. It’s a great cause – the organization basically protect the world’s beaches and our coastlines. To quote them – “SURFRIDER recognizes the biodiversity and ecological integrity of the planet's coasts are necessary and irreplaceable. SURFRIDER is committed to preserving natural living and non-living diversity and ecological integrity of the coastal environment.” Anyone who has enjoyed a day at the beach, an afternoon in a boat, or who surfs, dives or swims should feel compelled to help.
And now, after that short commercial break, I am going back to my cave for another Monday afternoon documentary on the Gangs of Oakland…. More amazing television.

A FEW MORE LINKS
Facebook and Twitter are consuming me! It's true - I've been neglecting this blog recently. Too many motorbikes, guitars and sneakers. But I snuck on briefly to throw a few links up in between commercials (I'm watching the U2 movie, Rattle And Hum - what an amazing piece of footage that is). So here they are... a much more detailed post coming soon, I promise!

BACK IN THE USA
There is absolutely nothing like a quick 5 day trip to the UK to make me feel hugely grateful that I live in Los Angeles. Don't get me wrong - I'm English and that's fine. Back in the day, when Punk was kicking, music was fresh and the people had a sense of revolution about them it was a fine place to come of age (apart from the odd drug habit!). But these days, let's just say that I have grown fond of a smile when I order a coffee, parking meters that cost a dollar an hour, and a pretty consistent 75 degrees all year round. It was fun to run around like a tourist with my wife and do the whole 'Big Ben/Nelsons Column/Portobello Road' thing, but I'm happy to be back home - even with the jet lag that has me up at 5.30am!!
This week, we have the Sunset Strip Music Festival.... and Camp Freddy will be playing a short set at The House Of Blues on Thursday night at the Ozzy Osbourne Honors thing. I am also hosting that whole evening (nervous? me? YES!) as well as playing with the guys. But if anyone deserves to be honored, it's the Prince Of Darkness himself! So I am looking forward to the whole evening with a mixture of healthy nerves and excitement. I think we may even rehearse tomorrow night as well.... Jesus, we're taking this shit seriously!! And then on the final night (Saturday 12th), after Ozzy plays his outdoor set at the Strip, I will be DJing at the SSMF Aftershow Party at The Viper Room. It's free to anyone who has a ticket for the festival, so come down and rock out. I think it starts at Midnight.
I can't really think past the end of this week (although I know that Ricky Warwick and I are in the studio all next week working on some stuff that came in unexpectedly - looking forward to that too as its always easy and fun working with Ricky.) There's the Scott Ford Benefit show at The Roxy on 26th. There's a mix due of the new song I wrote with Ginger Wildheart and the guys (looking forward to hearing that one) and the usual two or three other projects that are swimming about. I want to see if I can get updates on those soon. I know that around 3.00pm this afternoon I'm gonna crash large and no amount of caffeine will keep me going! So I'm gonna get as much done now as I can. Great to be back, great to be busy. See you guys around.
