A ROUND UP OF SORTS

BASEMENT JACK TEASER: Evil Has A New Address.....YOURS!!
Please note that this is a large file size. A high speed connection is preferred.

First things first. I want to thank everyone involved in last nights Gibson Amphitheater show. Matt, Slash, Duff, Dave, Scott and all in the Velvet Revolver camp for having Circus Diablo open the show. Alice In Chains for absolutely blowing my mind!!! All the crew and staff. And everyone who was in the arena when we played. I had a great time, and Diablo had a great show. Its a lot of fun doing what we do, and having a big stage to do it on makes all the difference. We started talking about next year and all that it entails - second album, touring, single, video etc - and we are all enthusiastic to get going.

As you will see, I am just kind of catching up with stuff here. The movie above is the first teaser video from Basement Jack (the most recent movie that I did) and I love the vibe. Can't wait to see some of the footage (cos I still haven't seen a frame!!). Michael (the director) is also shooting a video for Evergreen, the old Doheny song that I have re-sung for the closing credits, so that will also be some cool shit when we shoot that in January. And I have also been sent this movie poster for Evilution - the horror film that I did earlier in the year. SO much blood and guts in this one kids!! Do NOT take your children to see it!! When we get release details, I will let you know. Sometime in 2008 for sure.

Next, I can tell you that I will be DJ'ing at a new club night in Hollywood on December 20th. The club is called CENTRAL (although I'm sure they'll have some slick, hip name for the actual Thursday nights) and I will possibly be doing every Thursday all through January as well. The club will be ALL Rock N Roll and will be a very cool vibe, so anyone expecting the usual Hollywood 'Kayne meets 50 via some really average R+B' need NOT apply!!!. I will be doing a two hour set on that Thursday, so get dressed and come down.

I think thats all I got time for today. Yes, I did take the camera to the Amphitheater yesterday, and we got some great footage. I think what I'll do is film todays events as well, and put together a special Xmas Diablo V-Blog for you all by early next week. Tonight is, of course, our final show of 2007 at The Viper Room on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood. Come on down for a night of Rock N Roll. Oh - and you gotta read this!! Slick Rick posted it as a comment and I LOVE it - makes me smile....."There once was a guy named Billy. The Brixton blokes thought he was silly. He formed Circus Diablo. Just look at that boy go! He's the shit in Piccadilly!".....And with that, I am outta here to hit the gym and get some lunch before it all starts going off!!

Peace

Billy

I thought of this while I was on a plane after the incident that happened at the shopping mall. I wondered if CFR could have a guest in the future from Velvet Revolver or Shiny Toy Guns or The Killers or LA Guns. Don't get me wrong. I love all those groups just like you do. I just wanted to ask one of those musicians: How easy is it to have a NAME like that after the shooting in Omaha or the incident at Virginia Tech or any of the numerous massacres that take place practically every year in America? Do any of those artists believe the media plays a role in socializing or influencing young people's thoughts and actions? Do these people realize how much their lyrics, videos, and general lifestyle affects impressionable teenagers? I'm not saying they're partly to blame. The entertainment business MIGHT play a role. For the most part these are disturbed people with profound psychological problems, I suppose.
I for one believe in karma. I don't joke about a lot of things or take things like that too lightly for fear that it could hit close to home. It's the same way you don't joke about cancer or breaking a leg cause it could happen to you. Superstitious, I guess. Done rambling now.

Then there was that Luke on The OC. He was cute, but he was a bully. He used to beat up people and call them queer when he didn't like them. A few months later he found out his own father was gay. The whole town made fun of their family. They started calling Luke gay too and slashed the tires on his truck. It was like a hate crime. Karma is a bitch. In the end, Luke became a nicer, more tolerant individual. Sometimes a leopard can change his spots.

I wonder where Def Leppard got their name

Posted by: Rock of Ages at December 15, 2007 08:55 AM

I like how Led Zeppelin got THEIR name. Jimmy Page was out drinking with his friends Keith Moon and John Entwistle one night. Those two were complaining about some problems they were having with Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. They joked about starting a band with Jimmy, and one of them said "Yeah, that will go over like a lead balloon". Hence the name Led Zeppelin.

All the best musicians and artists in history have had their share of people who didn't believe in them. It's always fun to prove them wrong.

I enjoyed the show at Gibson the other night. While I was sitting in the vip bar between bands I overheard a conversation, someone was saying how "hot" the lead singer was for the first band. They were speaking of our Billy, of course.

There's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
And I've been tryin' to call my baby
Lord and I can't get a single sound

My main acoustic 12-string is an old Guild that I got in a pawnshop for 200 bucks. But on some of the songs I used this great old Gibson 12 from the ’60s that was lying around one of the studios where I recorded. Most people have come to the conclusion that the best sounding acoustic 12s are Guilds, which I have always agreed with. Then I heard this Gibson. Most of it has to do with the age of that particular instrument. ’Cause it’s older than my Guild.

It's a small world, even on the darn internet. I was lurking at the home page belonging to one of my favorite medieval authors. I noticed another user was one of my former instructors. It was hard not to figure him out because he went into such nauseating detail about his own personal life and the technical inaccuracies of the poor man's novels. I resisted a burning urge to reply to his nasty thread. I felt sorry for the poor writer. Then I became determined never to be THAT person or THAT reader. No one likes a know-it-all or a killjoy. It's just fiction, for fuck sake's! There's no need to a a drama queen--or king as the case may be. LOL
