Someone at MTV's message board viciously attacked me and wanted to know why I like Opeth so much. This is what I told him:

Opeth doesn't live on drugs like Black Sabbath & Guns N Roses. They don't talk trash like a lot of other bands I've seen live--like Stone Sour & Devil Driver. They have class. They're a progressive death metal band. They aren't monotonous. They combine lighter elements with their death metal vocals. They incorporate acoustic guitar interludes, keyboards, influences from jazz, 1970s progressive rock, blues and folk. This is why I like them. Music taste is a personal thing. I've actually seen Opeth in concert, unlike Metallica & Megadeth. Opeth gave my town the time of day which I can't say for a lot of other bands.
