FASHION, FLORIDA AND FOIS GRAS.
Please note that this is a large file size. A high speed connection is preferred.
Welcome to another week, and I cannot believe we are staring at April already! Its so crazy how time keeps going!! Anyway, as promised, a V-Blog from Miami – I actually lost a tape, but managed to edit this together, so it is what it is ….. hope you enjoy. The trip was a lot of fun, and although the flight is a long one, everyone was in good spirits, hitting the town on both Friday and Saturday nights. Scott and Dave both hosted nights at Mansion, and I think some of the Freddy entourage hit every single club in South Beach!! I do know that the flight back was a little more ….er…….. subdued! As I told you guys, the scuba diving thing didn’t pan out for Jen and I, but we still got to drive our rental car around Miami, down to the Keys, and generally acted like the tourists that we were for a few days.
The following week was full of fashion events, due to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week celebrations. My two DJ gigs were great – the first was for Grail, a company that makes the best tees out there – near enough every tee I wear is Grail – and they asked me to DJ and create a piece of tribal music for their models to walk to …….which I did. I was nervous that it wasn’t the usual ‘rock’ thing and that people wouldn’t like it, but everyone seemed very happy with the end result. They had a live bongo drummer banging away over the top of my piece of music and the collection had a very tribal/Haitian/Voodoo feel to it – all in all a very powerful show. I then hung out at Smashbox for the afternoon, and hit a couple more runway shows to check out the designers.
The other show I did was for a company called Junker, who make crazy rock and roll leather apparel (among other things) and they had Alice Cooper walking in the show. It was at the Avalon, and I was asked to DJ for a couple of hours, which I gladly did. This time it was all about the Rock, and I had a blast playing all my favorite tunes. Again, it seems like it was another successful evening and I am very greatful to all concerned for having me be a part of it.
I hit a couple more ‘events’ throughout the week, including a nice affair over in Beverly Hills held by designer Jenni Kayne. Jenni made the leather pants for me that I wear onstage, and she has been a friend for a few years now – and she had a very intimate ‘desert and drinks’ thingy to show her new designs. Nice to see her again, and nice to find an excuse to eat a cupcake or two!!
The weekend was a welcome break from running around, and apart from doing CFR with Dave (which is up on the Podcasts page of this site) I watched a lot of TV and basically chilled. I caught up on one of my favorite TV shows, Rome, and am now back up to date with that. We also hit a few more Season 5 Alias which is still on our Netflix list. And we watched The Secret – interesting, and with a few great ideas but a little materialistic for me, perhaps. I am still digesting it. And that brings us bang up to date on this gloomy Monday morning here in LA. Not a lot else to report. Back to the business of show, which usually involves not much show, and an awful lot of business!! I have a bunch of meetings this week – as you have learned here, we take tons of meetings, and 99% of it all never happens. It’s the 1% success rate that we are looking for!!! See ya during the week.
Peace
Billy

AWESOME V-BLOG!! Love the "Miami Vice" intro! All it needed was you and Dave in pastel colored suits, slip on shoes with no socks to complete the feel ;-) btw....the hair looks smashing!
I loved the snippet of Man in the Box.
quick question...Brett-Riders on the Storm-up coming CD tour with Ozzfest...que pasa?? Is this effecting CD?

David Draiman... aaaaahhhhh. OK..he's got to play with you guys in LA again, puleeeze! What did you do to your wrist? I saw you twisting it a bit at the end of the gig...??

Agree with Peebs - loved the Miami Vice intro. Your v-blogs rock!
That is classic music isn't it? Immediately puts you into a place/time/lifestyle/fashion/attitude etc.
Well done Jan Hammer!
Billy - last Sat's CFR was one of THE BEST EVER!
I cannot go into Starbuck's, Coffee Bean or Gloria Jean's anymore without you & Dave in the back of my head just waiting to scream at some annoying customer or server - yes, I know they're 'baristas' but that's just another annoying thing about swank coffee shops!
I never do scream actually coz when I think of your CFR coffee discussions, I just start to smile :)
Thanx for doing your part to keep LA safe! lol

V-Blog is awesome. The end of the fifth season of Alias is quite amazing. Do you still watch Lost or have you lost it just like everyone else have?

Ok, the only thing I am missing about being at work for the last couple of weeks is the HIGHSPEED SHIT!!! I cant watch anthing until I get back to work, which should be in the next week or two. I need my routine back but, belive it or not we have had another death that is going to take place same time, same place as my husband's funeral. It is goin to totally suck but, I HAVE to go. I do want to say that the person in charge of the donations ( a family member that has a masters in finances) told me tonight that there was a donation from someone in NY. I told him it had to be someone from this site. I just want to say a big Thank You to whoever it was and let you know it will help his daughter finish going to college, which was a big dream of Scott's. OK, enough of that. I am going to attempt to download the lastest vblog from youtube. Knowing my computer it should be ready in the morning!!! Take care everyone & thanks for everything!!

Since you mention the t-shirts I have a question. Do you ever wear shirts (T's or collared) other than black ones? Not that I'm an expert in your fashion sense but thinking back to your v-blogs and the pics you post...I don't think I've ever seen anything other than black.

Miami was absolutely great! I only caught the last 3 songs (by the time I got in from NY). But it was fun. After the show, all I wanted was some food, no club scene or anything- but on the street I proceeded to run into nearly every Camp Freddy member/guest EXCEPT Billy! I even ran into the back of Dave's SUV! It was quite the adventure.....
But the highlights for me:
1. Finding the venue by rolling down my car window and literally following the sound of Love Removal Machine blaring through the night air.
2. Meeting Matt Sorum at 3 AM and all I could mutter out of my sleep deprived mouth was that I like his... clothing line!? Yeah, I know. He seemed surprised too- but was really nice.
So- Billy- I want to send you something I made. Should I send it to CFR or ???

Dear Billy,
I am a Junior in High School who has been put in charge of my school's annual fundraiser. I'm scared at the moment because not as many people as I would expect are signing up to go to the fundraiser. I am organizing a Golf Outing that will take place on June 1, 2007. If you have any friends in Michigan who would be interested in golfing to raise money for my school please give them my email address. I can also provide further information about my school and about the Outing as well.
I'm sorry to ask you on your personal site but I am desperate to creat some sort of interest in the fund raiser. According to Newsweek, I attend the number 9 high school in the nation but for some reason we don't receive that level of funding that we would like thus students have to pay for many things.
Some of the will profits benefit my school and the Partnership for International Education. (My school is an affiliate of this group so ultimately, we will benefit anyway.)
Thank you in advance,
Janelle
