"OASIS" ROCK THE HOUSE

I love a good 'road' movie. Its probably the same thing that I felt all those years ago when I decided I wanted to play music. There is something about watching the backstage footage, the scenes of stages being built, the shots of endless midwestern blacktop rolling by, the interior of the bus with people sprawled out everywhere, that makes me want to write songs and be a part of the business. Its crazy really, because I now know the reality of all that, and I STILL love a good tour movie!! And last nights Oasis movie was one of the best. I went over to The Wadsworth theater to attend the Indie 103.1 FM sponsored "Oasis" gig. Now first of all, lets have our facts straight here. It was a screening of their new movie, followed with an acoustic performance by Noel and Gem. And a drummer called Terry, I believe, who is not in Oasis but was helping out with the show. Sounds like a weird evening on paper, right? Well, it was really fucking good!!! The movie was spot on, really funny (Liam on TOP form throughout the whole thing) and the acoustic songs were fantastic! A very intimate affair, and Noel showed that (as we all know), if Liam throws a fit, then he'll do a great job himself!! One of the great rock and roll bands - love em or hate em, Oasis deserve to be here, and the evening was really good, with the sold out Wadsworth Theater getting treated to some choice B-Sides and a few hits. A great end to a busy week that also included the big Playstation 3 party, with a performance by Mr Puffy P Diddy Sean John Coombs (he needs to figure out his name!). Great event - great gaming console - cant WAIT to get mine!!!

Sue - I mess around with Final Cut Pro for video. I say 'Mess around' because I have seen the guys who REALLY know that program, and they make me look like a monkey trying to put a square peg in a round hole!! But I use the program so that I can learn and get better.

Ylais - I dont think the Strutter magazine came out yet! We did it ages ago, but I believe that its a December release. I'll let you all know when it hits the stands. The NME thing is hard to comment on now, cos I havent been in the UK for years, so I dont know. I can tell you that the printed press and radio control 99% of what we hear or what we are even aware of!!!...... which is WHY the internet is the way forward.

Peebs - Good question. The answer is that doing ANYTHING Camp Freddy is not easy, just because of the schedules. The studio is no different really, because again, we have to wait for people to be available. We are, of course, able to go in and tweak things without everyone being there, but actually getting the bulk of stuff done involves some heavy logistical work!!! And regarding the VH-1 stuff - I was suprised they used ANY of me at all!!!!

Terri - Although I am a legal US resident, I am not (yet) a citizen and therefore not able to vote. Although I have to tell you that I never voted in the UK. I believe that until the politicians decide to tell the countries the REAL facts and truths, it is impossible for me to make an educated and considered decision.

Anon - Hmm. Well, I do make sure that someone else knows how I'm feeling, cos me, alone in my head, with that shit, is a recipe for disaster. And I have to say that I now know that the feeling will pass. Its easy to forget that, and when it all seems dark, I can think that it will be that way for the rest of my life. The reality is that shit changes, so I try and grab on to that thought, and hold on till the darkness passes. I also know that being of service to someone else will heal my negativity quicker than anything else. So I try to get out of my own head, and help someone else.

Jay - The truthful answer to your Nirvana question (another well thought out one, I might add) is that ALL through that part of music history, I was completely out of the game. I was too busy destroying myself with drugs and was unaware of anything making any impact on any scene at all. It wasn't until I sobered up that I understood Nirvana's impact.

Bi - WAY too much thinking going on here!!! The symbol was drawn and tattooed on my arm MANY years ago. It was part of some crazy drug thing that one of my old bands, IN2AO, was involved with, and I had a tattoo made up of Runes and Symbols. No idea what I thought it meant, but it looks great and is also a C and a D. Circus Diablo. Or Christian Dior.

Beth - MAPLE LATTE!!! Its amazing with whip and drizzle!!! Like drinking liquid IHOP.

All done for today. More gym, more working on some writing I've been doing recently, more video games. And a nice meal at a nice hotel tonight. Today is shaping up nicely. Tomorrow is an all new CFR - and I have no idea who's doing it. But I'll be there. Pics today are from the events this week. See you guys soon.

Peace

Billy

POST-SCRIPT. - Mr Dixon, is it not obvious to you? Mick Jagger copied everything he knows from me. And why is your IP address bogus? Fearful of something?

Not that you don't always, but you look especially handsome in the first picture, Billy.

And is that Henry Thomas in the second pic with Donovan? I heart that boy.

This is my favorite thing that you've ever written here: Hmm. Well, I do make sure that someone else knows how I'm feeling, cos me, alone in my head, with that shit, is a recipe for disaster. And I have to say that I now know that the feeling will pass. Its easy to forget that, and when it all seems dark, I can think that it will be that way for the rest of my life. mi corazon Billy!

Monday night, Mary Beth, Sue, Kristen and I are decending on Irving Plaza to catch The Cult! Maybe Mary Beth and I will wear our "Diablette" t-shirts so Duffy can pick us out! ;-) Should be a fucking GREAT show!!

Posted by: Robin (Peebs) at November 10, 2006 11:20 AM

Je t'aime, Billy!

Yes, here we come to Irving Plaza, better warn Duffy...

Wish you were going to be there.

Have a great weekend, all!

Love,
Sue

Billy,

Thanks for answering my question. I fear that I've hit a plateau with Photoshop, so video editing will be next on my list!

Great description of the Maple Latte - liquid IHOP! Brilliant!

Enjoy the weekend,

Caff Sue

(Peebs and Sue... have an amazing time on Monday!)

Hi everybody, I've been busy feeling morose and bitter, but now I'm settled into lugubrious living

Hey all!

Yes...the fearless foursome will be out and about and taking NO prisoners at the Cult show on Monday night at Iriving Plaza!

Even though I am an attorney, Billy we might be needing you to front us our bail money...or at least tell Duffy that we really are harmless and not to press charges! At least if we have to be arraigned, I'm not due in another court the next day....that would be hilarious huh? Me...calling into work arrested!

Okay and here's a music question for the Morrison...what band or performer do you wish you could have seen live?

Posted by: MB at November 10, 2006 02:57 PM

ahhhhh mr morrison you NEVER let me down.....did mr dixon not think you would know he was giving a fake IP address?
again i commend you on not only giving us news on everything music unlike alot of people but you allways give us -the fans- time and i can back that up!!!!
how did you manage to blaze into the music buisness blitzed out of your mind tho???

Posted by: Paul at November 10, 2006 04:28 PM

I tried the Maple and just couldn't do it.. it's just like drinking a whole bottle of Aunt Jemima. I'll stick to my Pumpkin Spice!

And all you headed to see The Cult on Monday, put your pretty faces on cos remember they're filming it for that DVD broadcast. I'd give my right arm to be there except I think I'd be headed for divorce for sure after all the travelling this year already... make us proud! (I'm so jealous!)

Hey Billy!!!

Love the pic, definitely hot!

I have a couple of questions for you (hope you don't mind)

1. If you could live in any country in the world which country would it be and why?

2. Will you ever get your own myspace ;)

Posted by: Kelly at November 11, 2006 05:25 AM

Flamingheart-we will most definitely "represent"!!

The issue I have with "filming" for DVD is....the "no camera" issue they will probably institute! We ran into that problem at The Panic Channel show at the Avalon since they were filming that one also. And security was MILITANT! But...if you watch the "Teahouse of the Spirit" video on youtube the over head shots of Dave, I was standing next to the camera guy in the balcony. I could of spit right on Dave's head. ;-)

Looking cute in the frame!
Have a lovely weekend, sounds romantic.
What are you writing?
Which road movies? Come on you can't drop a tantalising chocolate carrot like that one and not name a couple of the best? I need to know what I've missed! Please!
Did you see Kiefer Sutherland's I trust you to kill me? Great actor but that looked like hard work. Not so sure he had any experience of music management.
Have a good week.

I could not get it either, reception won't come in on my home stereo. I went and sat in my car to listen to some of it.

Posted by: beth at November 11, 2006 09:22 PM

Posted by: Kelly at November 11, 2006 09:53 PM

Damn it. I lost reception and I did not get what you 2 were saying about Paris Hilton on air. Could some1 please help me and post it here? Billy? Thanx!

Posted by: Bird Vaczine at November 11, 2006 10:16 PM

i think we're pretty much fucked for the podcast!

Posted by: Paul at November 12, 2006 06:10 AM

Live stream was down.
My friend was over last night because we were working on my kitchen (degreasing my kitchen cabinets to prepare them for painting, and we were going to hang some dry wall but it was getting to late to start drilling drywall screws, I have neightbors on one side of me. Exciting Saturday night, huh?) So we planned on listening to CFR while we worked but no go.

So what did I do instead? Played her some old podcasts, especially the ones where either I or MB (or the one when me and MB called in on a threeway) called into CFR. She was laughing. I think I converted a new CFR fan. good times....good times....

Posted by: Robin (peebs) at November 12, 2006 06:49 AM

so what was the topic of conversation last night on CFR ???

Posted by: Paul at November 12, 2006 07:08 AM

Billy, I am actually into 2006 on the archives finally (only Jan though). I am learning a lot & found out you have been asked SEVERAL times about the scroll on your back. Sorry about the repeat questions. I understand you are a Raiders fan, they are a close second favorite of mine (more so in the Tim Brown era)next to MY team the Chiefs. Of course they are huge rivals, but I think that is part of the fun. That being said, what is your feeling regarding all the controversy surrounding them this year? By the way we meet up next Sunday, I suggest you wear your red & black dunks (I think you called them the "Terminator" dunks?) instead of the black & silver ones. Just a little friendly NFL rivalry. Of course, in Dec the Chiefs have to visit the Black Hole. Have you ever gone to the games? Take care & I am truly enjoying this site!!! NIKI

Posted by: Merc957 at November 12, 2006 09:15 AM

What inspires you to write? anything in particular or just a feeling that you have something in your head that wants out?!
Did anyone manage to sort CFR podcast?
x

Posted by: Vixen at November 12, 2006 10:38 AM

no podcast this week.

Posted by: Paul at November 12, 2006 02:55 PM

Ok, after today's performance I need to retract my previous statement about the dunks. I may be out looking for a silver & black pair!!! Still a Chiefs fan though!! Good luck next Sunday! It ought to be good. NIKI
