MONDAY ON MY MIND

OK - here we go. Another week. Sometimes its a drag and sometimes things are just amazingly good. And sometimes its all a little ...... flat. Right now, its flat. Nothing really going on. So I am keeping busy doing some video editing, some writing, a little session here and there ..... and of course, CFR. Which reminds me that tonight I'll be hosting a special one hour CFR from the Best Buy Guitar Hero 2 Launch, taking place in the Pico/West LA store at 10.30pm. The address is 11301 W Pico Blvd. (at Sawtelle Blvd.) and Dave will be doing the instore appearance, signing all yer goodies. I am sure he will join me on the couch to chip in during CFR, and I'm gonna see exactly how good some of you guys are at actually playing that game. Cos I SUCK!!!! Its a lot of fun, but I am way better at shooting things in a war game, than playing the solo from a Queen song on a plastic stick with five buttons!! But trust me - the game will suck you in...... I have been rockin out on my copy all weekend!!! (And Vixen - I think you have the wrong end of the stick there ....... I am not IN the game - although that would have been fun - I am just doing a radio show ABOUT the game!! )

As you will see, the CFR from Saturday is now up on the podcast page, and I believe that Paul will be getting up early (or staying up very late!!) and getting the hour special that we do tonight. Dont forget that by clicking on the I-Tunes button, you can automatically subscribe to this blog and have your I-Tunes automatically download the podcasts and V-Blogs directly I put them up online. So if you havent subscribed yet ..... do it now!!!

Peebs - The Xmas song was a whim that turned into a half serious effort. We are currently finishing the track and if we do it in time, it will be an I-Tunes release. The full CD thing will be the album that we have been chipping away at for two years! And thats still ...... being worked on!! Although if you were listening carefully to CFR on Saturday, I actually played a finished track from said album!!

Jilly - Yeah, I actually DID stop smoking, so yes I am serious. And yes it does fuck with your head!!!

Mark - In all honesty, Camp Freddy was just a one-time thing! So no - it was in NO WAY part of the plan to be doing it five years later!! We just did it the first time, and thought that would be it!! But the thing is, as long as its fun, why would we stop?? And favorite venue? In LA - I love the Key Club. I also loved playing Madison Square Gardens in New York. But the best venue for me HAS to be The Astoria (I have no idea what they call it now) in Charing Cross Road in London.

Kate - As I always say when asked this question, my two ideal Camp Freddy guests would be Adam Ant and Madonna. But David Bowie would be nice too!!!!

Lisa - Yeah. I have seen V and I liked the movie. And we were talking about that on Saturdays CFR. Thought it was done rather well.

Jay - Not this time mate. Bonaduce Season 2 was sans Morrison.

Danni - I have heard nothing from Mr Ant in a few years. But last saw him a few years ago at The Shepards Bush Empire and he was fantastic. Lets hope he does the reformation tour with the Ants. Its about time!!

Thats it from me - just wanted to get the podcast up, and let everyone know about the Indie 103.1/Best Buy event tonight. If you are around, come on down and join in the fun. I'll be back during the week to check in and see what you are all up to ....... questions are welcome, and hopefully we might know a bit more about the Camp Freddy Xmas show soon, so keep it here for ticket details etc.
Have a great week.

Peace

Billy

Have fun at the BB thing Billy.
I can't wait for the day we get to see CF with Bowie! (positive thinking is a powerful thing!)

Desperate Housewives last night...anyone?
I actually did a little scream & jumped! (If you saw it you know what I'm talking about)
Great stuff!

@Alec - glad to hear your show rocked mate! You guys are awesome!

Billy,

Well, I will certainly be tuning in for a little CFR tonight.

I actually have a question, too... which program do you edit your videos with?

Good luck at Best Buy,

Caff Sue

I missed the first half hour or so of CFR.. then the stream cut off towards the end. (grr!) Must have missed the V for Vendetta talk. I've got 'listen to Sat's CFR', and 'tonight's CFR' on my 'to do' list!!

Have a great time at Best Buy.

Lisa,

Since their website is down right now (expected to relaunch this month) have you tried emailing them?

Well unlike Caffeinated Sue I will listen to tonights special surprise mid-week CFR....on podcast! 1:30am (EST) when I have to be up for work a few hours later is a little late for me! Plus I MISSED CFR Saturday night because I was out shaking my moneymaker so I missed the CF song! :-((so that's 2 podcasts I get to listen to)

Well since Bowie lives in NYC that would make for a fucking great CF show WHEN you guys hit NYC again! :-D

Ok so....If it's really hard to gather the guys together sometimes for a CF show taking in consideration everyones hectic schedules, how hard is it to get everyone into the studio to record? Or is that actually easier because each part can be done at anyones leisure?
And second question: The VH1 "I love the (70's, 80's, Toys)" segments you were in-how many hours did they actually film you for each series and were you surprised at the comments you said they ended up using for the show and the stuff they ended up not using and landed on the cutting room floor?

Billy-thanx so much for answering my question, have a GREAT WEEK!:)

ok I must admit I felt a little silly (actually straight out retarded) going out there especially since I don't own a playstation..... but anyhow here are a few pictures. I was going to take some of Dave but they didn't let me. Theresa kept telling me to grow some balls and just do it... hmm it's funny how shy I am when I'm totally sober. They kinda gave us the evil eye when we walked out of the store with no guitar hero. If I had a playstation and had some extra cash I would have been all over it.

Wendy you should have just slapped on some of your old "photographer" passes on from some former shows and walked in that Best Buy like "Hey, I AM the official Camp Freddy Photographer, who the hell are YOU?".
Those people apparently didn't know who they were messing with! ;-)
But cute pictures anyway! The few you did get!

Posted by: Robin (peebs) at November 7, 2006 03:01 AM

Thats awesome, many, many, many good music has been played at the astoria. You are a legend Billy!

Posted by: Mark at November 7, 2006 05:05 AM

Billy, Are you able to vote? What do you think of all the negative political ads all over the tv and radio? I'm sick of it. Why can't they address the issues. Makes me almost not want to vote.

Wendy, Thank you again!

Has anyone seen Borat? It is one of the funniest movies ever!

Luv, Terri

Posted by: Terri at November 7, 2006 05:44 AM

nah peebs. They really didn't mess with me... one of the security guards just asked me really nicely not to take any once I pointed at Dave's direction. He was actually very nice about it. I was just out of my element a little and felt retarded.

Posted by: wendbird at November 7, 2006 08:26 AM

Sorry I was a lazy ass and didn't look back for the question previously. All three would be unbelievable!

I saw Borat. Meh. I laughed, but I wasn't rolling on the ground level laughing. I think, once again, the ads gave away too many of the laughs. Ah well.

DAVID LETTERMAN (& all corporate tv peeps) LOVE DAVE'S AND BILLY'S SITES.

Billy, question for you: When you get that feeling (dry drunk or whatever) do you call a spon. or do you read from the big 1 or what do you do to not use and NOT beat up on yourself? I really need an answer as I feel pretty down lately, thanx man. Kind feeling lost or sad and I need to hear some positive stuff from some1 that I respect. cheers again mate.

Posted by: anonamongus at November 7, 2006 03:21 PM

Hiya all! Sue, thanks for the Strutter mag info.
(excuse me, my dog has nicked something out of the rubbish bin and run off outside..brb..)
ha ha..i made him jump when i snuck up on him.

anyway, Billy, what I did hear on CFR this Sat was you mentioned in passing to Dono about his band, 'Well you weren't an NME band'. I keep thinking that kind of thing. How much control NME has. It's sickening at times. Then other times, they stick a band that I like on the cover! I don't buy it anymore though. It just ain't the same anymore.
What happened to it?!

(stopping my mouth there, before I start rambling)

hugs
Lisa

ps. I still didn't hear any V for Vendetta talk?! O_o Can anyone point me to the place it's at on the podcast please?

To Dear Dono. I almost phoned Sat on CFR to tell you it's Sympathy for the Devil. I figure other ppl have told you though!

see ya, Lisa xxxx

Billy,

I caught a "Classic Albums" episode featuring Nirvana's "Nevermind" on VH1 last night and was wondering your thoughts on that particular era in music history. With your experience in the biz, slugging it out from the post punk scene onward and such, did you have any idea at the time that particular record would affect the youth/culture of the time the same way "Never Mind The Bollocks" did you?

Thanks,
Jay

Billy Billy Billy,

Ive been anal~I'z'ing your band's symbol.
Have you researched it at all?
1. 30:3 · The circle divided by a vertical line is an ancient sign of the alphabets used in antiquity in the Near East. The alchemists used it to signify saltpeter.

...and we all know what the cross stands for!
The sacraficial God.
So is that saying that...
You boys are sacraficing your little peter's to be a rock God's?
Or you just didnt understand what the symbol meant when you chose it?
If the latter is correct I would be careful of what I use to symbolize me or ones about me cause it does seem intelligent to assume that using a symbol will perpetuate some of the forces associated with the symbols to govern some said outcomes. And a symbol used by the ancient alchemist...oh my oh my Mr Morrison.
I hope you believe.
*smiles*

Just stopping by to say hello. I have nothing articulate to say.
Billy - what is your favorite coffee at Starbucks?
(see what I mean?)

Posted by: beth at November 8, 2006 10:52 PM

Billy - I am sorry I'm such a pillock!
Thank you for clearing that up. I thought it sounded like fun and we could play at being you. Will get hold of game and find out more about it. Love CFR podcasts.
And oh-mi-god the Astoria. Too many nights of insane fun there to even begin with on the memories. Amazing to think that's your best venue. It's a brilliant venue to be a fan at!! Idols are finger-tip distance away and the atmosphere lives in every air single particle (of cloudy fug). What's it like to play? Or is it cos of more personal reasons?
Anyway, sorry the terrain is flat for you this week - party season is a short blink away and then things will be hectic once again.
Have a good week.
x

"every single air particle."
and clearly i can't speak or type either.
oooops. sorry.
