ARIZONA AFTERNOONS

CIRCUS DIABLO: The Arizona V-Blog
Please note that this is a large file size. A high speed connection is preferred.

I'm back again with a brand new V-Blog from our little two day trip out to Arizona and the Martini Ranch show. A couple of warnings - first of all, its nearly 5 minutes long, so make sure you have a decent connection speed. And secondly - if the word F#@K offends you, do NOT bother to watch it. Right - warnings over. It was a real laugh to get on a bus with these guys. It was a taste of what we have coming when we release the album and get out there for real in the first quarter of 2007. And all I can say is .... I cant wait! Everyone had a really good time, and despite it being a mild Arizona day (only about 110 degrees!!) we had a great trip. The one problem for me was that my In Ear monitors got left behind in Los Angeles. Now that wouldn't be too much drama on an arena stage, where the wedges can cope with a loud rock n roll band. But in a small club, it's a big obstacle, because no matter what we did, the little onstage monitors couldn't get my vocals up above the din of the band. I eventually opted to use some generic Sony Walkman headphones in my ears - Big Mistake!!

By the time the second song was on me, the sweat was pouring inside my ears, and the headphones were hanging around my shoulders - they wouldn't stay in my ears. Which meant that I had zero monitors. None. No way of hearing myself sing!! I muscled through the set, basically just guessing what notes I was singing, so while the band had a great time, I was pretty miserable up there!! The audience were great though - digging all the new music we were playing. That is REALLY encouraging, and we have experienced that at every show. When an audience has to listen to a bunch of brand new music, and actually get into it, even though they have never heard it before, its a really good sign.

So the show was, for me, hot, sweaty, loud and a bit of a mess. But it was great to get a good reaction, and I loved the actual club. Everyone was really cool to us, and I am sure we will be back there next year. Thanks to everyone who came out. And thanks to Nancy for giving us a bunch of great pics that night. Check out this one - the three of them look awesome in it!! And keep checking WWW.CIRCUSDIABLO.COM for new pics, vids and news.

So now we move into a few weeks of inactivity - October will be a busy month for me, with some Camp Freddy shows, and a Circus Diablo show at The Viper Room in Los Angeles on October 14th. For now, I intend to do some work at home on the sites, and on those new Diablo tunes that have been sitting in my computer for months. I also plan to get a video edited and up on the MySpace page and the Diablo website from the Key Club show. We got given a DVD of the show that came out really good, so we wanna get one of those songs up on the web for everyone. I'll have a few weeks to just dick around on the sites and tweak to my hearts content - I hope to get the whole Diablo merch page up and running too. We do have shirts and I am trying to figure out getting a Paypal thing happening. Its a little more complicated than a standard Paypal account, cos its classed as a business account. But I am trying to wrap my head around it, so we can get the tees up there for everyone.

All questions will now be answered. Matt was asking how possible it would be to get a picture with Camp Freddy. The answer is - I dont know!! Theoretically, it would be easy. We dont mind at all. But getting everyone in the same room is the tough part! I suppose if someone was in a soundcheck when we were all there, then a pic would be no problem. So all you gotta do is find out when we are playing, blag your way into the soundcheck, bribe the tour manager to get him to tell us you are there ...... and you got it!!!!

Finally, it seems that the I-Tunes single, Surrender, is a worldwide release. So its good to see you all downloading it. I think it came out sounding great, and I'm really proud that we finally got a track released! Now all we have to do is finish that album and get that out!! Who knows when that will happen, but one of these days, we'll get to it. Thanks to everyone for all the love and support - I love being a part of this whole extended web community, and I cant wait to get out there with Diablo next year and meet you all. Gotta dash, so for now, have a great day, be nice to people, and I'll see ya soon.

Peace

Billy

Billy,

Haven't posted in a long, long time...haven't had many questions or much to say. However the time has come:

1) since you've changed the format of your video blogs, I can't seem to watch them. I click the picture, it starts playing..and then after a few seconds it pauses. I click play again, it starts again...and then pauses...and so it goes. Sometimes when I re-start it, it goes back to the beginning. It seems to be a streaming issue but I have a high-speed connection so not sure what is up. Has anyone else complained about this? When you posted the files in the old format I used download them to my PC and then watch them. I try to do that with these files but there it would seem the only way I can do that is to shell out the bucks to purchase Quicktime Pro.

2) I know you've been on the road but is there a copy of the CFR podcast from last weekend available? Maybe this is a question for Paul.

Thanks!

Daniel

Daniel, if you have itunes you can subscribe to Billy's podcast there and download the videos , lot better and you can watch in fullscreen, sounds to me like you are having download speed problems, try waiting a while before pressing play it may work then.

Geez Billy - you looked wiped after that gig! Hope you're getting some well deserved rest.

Great vblog as usual.
Question - Any parts of these going to be used in the show about you?

Posted by: ozmerica at September 7, 2006 07:58 PM

Abby - I am still recovering from the shot of Billy in the bus. Glad you were able to put it into words.

hey guys n gals , there wasnt a show last week as the guys had a well deserved break.
daniel i hae the same problem with the blogs that your having-the answer is this.....
click on the blog and turn your sound down and just let the footage roll...when it stops it means that its loading up so wait a few minutes for this or until the grey bar has filled up.
when the bar is full it means the footage has fully loaded and your ready to view.
i you got any problems hit me at this address and ill do what i can to help you in anyway with the quicktime thing.
