SAN DIEGO OR BUST
So today, we go out and play our first show as Circus Diablo. Kinda weird really - when Duffy and I started writing songs, we had no conception of making it into a band. And here we are nine months later jumping into a van to go play in San Diego tonight. I think the moral of that story is dont over-think things .... just like Freddy, really. If something happens in it's own organic way, then just roll with it and see what happens. Its been fun putting it all together, and we'll see how we do tonight. I am sure that some video and a few pics will make their way onto both this site and the Diablo site afterwards. So keep yer eyes peeled!! And the new Diablo tee shirts will be on sale from the Shop page of www.circusdiablo.com very soon - probably another week or so. Just having the Paypal stuff set up now.
Last nights CFR is now up in the Podcasts section of the site. Although its a different animal doing it by myself, I kind of enjoyed it. I miss the whole Dave/Billy thing, and Matt and Dono have been busy - thats just the way its fallen recently. But I had a bunch of calls telling me I was doing great (which meant the world to me) so I just relaxed into my own, mellower vibe. Lots of music, a few phoners, and my guests, Whitestarr. Well .... I had fun anyway.
Gotta go and pack a bag for today. Hit me with some questions - I'll have a full Q+ A with the report and pics from tonights show whenever I wake up tomorrow!! Have fun everyone .

Have a kick ass show tonight!! I wish I could be there!
I too miss the Billy/Dave vibe on CFR. You guys are like the Lone Ranger and Tonto, Batman and Robin, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Laurel and Hardy.....wait I'll stop there. I have to download the podcast from last night.
And yep, already got paypal, ready to make purchases...
ok question-what part (if any) has been the most frustrating part of the whole Circus Diablo process and what was the most fun?
Later!

Hey Billy, I have a couple of questions for the Q&A thing: Will there be any more public Camp Freddy shows this year? If you haven’t got anything planned for the rest of the year, what would your fans have to do to make you guys play another public show? Also, when will the Camp Freddy online shop finally be online? And when are you planning to release the Camp Freddy album? Love, Alex

Have a great show tonight Billy! I hit Citywalk today and got the Hard Rock to take a huge stack of the Circus Diablo cards I made. They were very happy to pass them out. Can't wait til Friday. I'm bringing a few concert virgins...so don't be gentle with them! Bwahahahhaha!

Billy,
How did it feel to walk out on stage and be the "front man" again? I suppose it's quite a different vibe than you've been accustomed to post Stimulator, any thoughts?
Also, a setlist rundown would be cool when you get a chance.
Congratulations on the new gig, we're all happy you're getting the opportunity to bring the rock.
Thanks,
Jay

I hate not being there tonight. PLease tell us how you felt moments before going on stage. Is there any thing you found you would like to change for the next show?

Okay, it's almost 6am East Coast time. Any West Coast peeps up? I'm on my way out the door to work and want to hear all about the show.

hey billy another quick un....i havnt heard the new supernova track but it seems to have taken some slack....for being different.
i think that the backgrounds these guys have are -different...guns,motley, metallica-different!
so they have to come up with something new and fans of their previous bands have got shitty because its not what they expect-often this is the case when when you get a group of guys do that!
whats your views on "supergroups" and their music?
ps do you find it hard to sing as well when playing a guitar at the same time
Posted by: paul at August 21, 2006 07:21 AM
well, after 4 hours sleep...this is all you get until wendy and co. post pics and stuff...
1. this band is AWESOME..I think I said awesome 100 times last night, but it's true, they are obviously having fun up there and it translates into amazing positive energy
2. The songs they have written are so much fun to listen to..Red Sun Rising, Shine, Billy is just KILLING it on the vocals, Brett and Ricky back him up so perfectly, and Duffy is ...DUFFY..but that drummer, Jeremy...amazing!
3. Want to hear some old school? How about Pretty Vacant by the Sex Pistols, Ants Invasion by Adam and the Ant..and just to drive it home..a CLASSIC Billy Duffy penned CULT tune...I won't tell you which one..but Billy...Billy...Billy..did it justice!!
The closing, they have such a tight team, great sound, lighting, stage presence I was left speechless, and you know how hard THAT is for me..and it was their FIRST show!!!
You guys lucky enough to see them at the Key Club...better bring a change of clothes!
Posted by: jezebel at August 21, 2006 07:47 AM
Change of Clothes? Hmmm.... intriguing! Can't WAIT!

Heyy Billy, good luck in San Diego mate! Can't wait to maybe see you one day in Oz.
Hows the wife going with no cigarettes? Is that half the reason why you are now getting out of the house and touring? haha just joking mate
Posted by: Simon at August 22, 2006 01:05 AM
Really Peebs?!! Hurumph. Someone's due for a good hiding. lmao. I don't get Kimmel over here. Anyone know where a copy of Dave on Kimmel is please? I don't have time to search, my Mum and her husband are arriving in a couple of hours.
I'm taking a break from all the travelling, visiting, packing, unpacking..got to go get my arse ready now..eek..
love to everyone. hugs

Hopefully someone will "you tube" the interview portion Dave had with Kimmel, that's when Dave forgot about mentioning his mate!
I was LAUGHING! I said "poor Billy, treated like a stepchild"!

wendy, your pics as always are awesome. You take some of the best rock pics I've seen, and no I'm not buttering you up or anything. LOL
billy, glad to hear the show was a smash and everybody had a good time. ;)

Wendy , Your pics are awesome as usual . Thanks so much!

The show was awesome - can't wait for Friday.
And Peebs, Dave did say Billy's name on Kimmel. I was waiting for it!
Posted by: Theresa at August 22, 2006 05:55 PM
Someone else said Dave said Billy's name but it was muffled but I was talking to Sue before and she and I swore we didn't hear it!
Maybe because I was saying "And? And?" outloud to the TV! LOL

Time to wake up Billy, it's almost Friday!!! See you there!
I'll bring my cardboard cutout of Peebs. Or perhaps you'd rather be Barbie or Skipper?
