BUSTED AT THE SPA!

V_BlogPic2.jpg

So the idea was that I did a Video Blog entry from inside the Spa. I was in there all day yesterday and figured it might be fun to sneak the laptop and the camera inside the place (its what they call an 'exclusive' health spa, which basically means overpriced!) and have some fun filming. Well, that lasted about 10 seconds - I got all the shit inside, got changed and went outside into the 'quiet garden'. I pulled the laptop out, connected the camera, started filming ...... and almost immediately someone came around the corner! ....'Er, excuse me Mr Morrison but we dont allow cameras inside the Spa'. No amount of back-peddling or excuses from me helped matters, and the whole idea was shot down in flames before it began. It did, however, make me realize just how much trouble I can get myself into with this stuff!! So today is another golf course entry. I am, of course, still testing it all out. Once I get back to LA, I can make the entries more interesting. But its cool to be able to answer all your questions personally. I expect I will do an entry from Saturdays CFR with Dave. That should be fun. I have decided to keep the video diaries as they are - downloadable. If I go to Streaming Video, only the people with a High Speed connection will be able to get them. What that means is that for those of you with Dial Up, its gonna take a little time to download the diaries. For this, I apologize, but I think its better that way. Any other suggestions to minimize the time of download are welcome. Oh and whilst I remember - I have to give a huge shout out to Don. I have never met Don, but I have stood behind him in line at the Starbucks in La Quinta. Don is in his 60's, completely normal looking, and was by himself when I witnessed the following ........ "We have a venti Americano with five shots for Don". FIVE SHOTS!!! I have met my match. Don walked up to the counter, picked up his equivalent of a half gram of speed, and took a huge swig. He thanks the staff of Starbucks and walks out. ALL HAIL DON. Now THAT is a coffee!! Enjoy, and I'll be back at the weekend with a new diary from LA. Peace. Billy

Do you know yet what times you will be at the Gibson Booth at NAMM?

5 shots? Holy shyt! Best I've done is three.

Well, looks like I'm SOL for NAMM, went to the site, and they've an extensive list of who can't be in:

"NAMM is an association for COMPANIES in the music products industry, NOT for individuals (see list below). Qualified NAMM Member companies make, buy, sell or distribute musical instruments and products. The following categories of companies/ individuals DO NOT qualify for NAMM Membership and CANNOT attend the NAMM trade shows:

bands or musical groups, DJs, churches, school districts, colleges, concert promoters, production companies, film and movie companies, home recording studios, music clubs or venues, performing artists or musicians, private music teachers, producers, record labels, record/CD stores, songwriters, studio audio engineers or theaters
Individuals – Although NAMM Membership isn't for you, we still need your help spreading the word about the many proven benefits of making music. For more information, please visit www.amc-music.org. And be sure to visit your local NAMM music products retailer to see all of the great new products that were introduced at the NAMM trade shows!"

Thank god for Webblogging. Thanks for your efforts Billy, much appreciated. S'all good. Must mean God is trying to save me money...

Billy,

A little off the beaten path here but I found
it interesting nonetheless. Was watching VH1 over the holidays and caught a show
about "Celebrity Swag". Included was a segment on gift bags given at premiers/parties etc and was wondering what event afforded you the best swag bag? Some of the shit was fucking unbelievable, upwards of 35 grand in value for an Oscar event...

Any insight?

Thanks,
Jay

Take care all!

Thanks for trying at the spa. It sucks being busted for anything, but at least it was just for trying to sneak a camera into an exclusive spa and nothing worse. :)

oh, and thanks for the welcome. You made my day!I am going to sign my name this time, just in the off chance I can hear you say it. :)

Billy !

Why not put some video of you playing through your usual rig with the addition of your new ProTone pedals?
This video aspect really makes the billymorrison.net weblog unique. Now YOU are at the forefront of the cool new shit!

-confession-
I must now confess that that I personally do a minium of 4-6 shots per coffee, a day, with the number of coffees varying. Here's to all the "Don"s of the world!

"We have a venti Americano with five shots for Don" -- Don could possibily be my Starbucks soulmate!

Loving the video blog... can't wait to see how it evolves!

Happy New Year to all!

Billy, thanks for humoring my embarassing display of affection...I am smiling right now...and the offer still stands, stop by my little hamlet one of these days on your way back from your desert retreats...We have five Starbucks, three of them in one mall alone, wait, I think we only HAVE one mall, a plaza, as it were. We just got our first CBTL, but we do have about 10 or 15 other coffee shops, with quaint names like the Daily Grind, Grounds For Enjoyment, Jazz and Java..etc...and you can pretty much tour the entire town by car in about 20 minutes. hahaha
Looking forward to more of you!
love

Hey Billy,

Glad you liked the Monarchs and the Gurus. Any similarity in sound is due to Brad Shepherd being the lead guitarist in the Gurus and he formed the Monarchs when the Gurus split up a couple of years ago. The Monarchs only put out one album (Make Yer Own Fun) but it's a corker...track it down if you can. And I highly recommend 'Ampology' as a good 2CD restrospective of the Gurus long career...lotsa good material there. How's about putting the Monarchs track onto CFR this week and blowing out a few cobwebs?

Thought you might've known of The Saints...I think they had some success in the UK right about the time you were probably getting into music. And the Oils track was back from the early days when they used to rock hard and before they turned soft and soggy. You should check out their first self-titled album and their second one 'Head Injuries'...they're some good 'uns.

The Video blog looks very cool...keep 'em up. I haven't watched the webcam from CFR so seeing you whilst (!) you are speaking was new for me...you sounded the same as on CFR but you look so laid back man!...or was that a case of still getting outta first gear in the morning?

See ya.

Damn...I tried the 5 shot Venti Americano this morning and I am still buzzing. WOW.

Billy, I totally agree with your take on the MySpace page as that is what I had in mind all along...andI would still love to do it. E-mail me when you have a moment and we can start to work it out.

oh, and one more thing...so all your talk about Nike Dunks I had to check them out. Shit they kick ass. I just got my first couple pairs this week and I just spent about an hour on the nike webpage customizing 5 new pairs! This could be a severe addiction. Now I some how understand my wife's passion for shoes. HAHA....

The video blogs are awesome! I especially liked the cut to you with the explanation of what happened to the spa footage; then the cut back to you on the golf course. That cracked me up.
