FAT AND BROKE

Thats how I always feel after Xmas. The simple mathematics of Food+Shopping=Fat and Broke is just SO sad!! But I do it every year. The whole Dallas trip was fine, but as always, involved plenty of nice restaurants and some insanely good Miso Cod, and the Malls were there to help relieve us all of our hard-earned cash. But we decided to continue the debauchery after we got back to Los Angeles. We have spent two days running around like crazy people in the sales. And its kinda like a war zone out there. People are literally fighting over the last red Dolce And Gabbana shirt or pushing and shoving to get that last Dior purse. We made out like bandits, and had a really fun time - re-stocking our closets and then clearing out all the old stuff and donating it all to charity. I cleared my denim out and got rid of a ton of old jeans and I am STILL left with over 30 pairs!!!! But thats it now. Back to the healthy diet, the Pilates and Cardio, and no more Retail. At least for now!

My love of the Les Paul guitar is no secret, and right now, there is a killer interview with me over at the Gibson site. Click HERE to read the article. Nice pics, and fairly in-depth. Vive Le Gibson. And talking of guitars, I will be down at the NAMM show on Saturday January 21st at the Gibson Booth. I still dont have any times yet, but I will post them as soon as I know. If you havent been down to the NAMM show yet, you have to do it. Anyone into making music or even just hanging out with the people that DO make music will have a fantastic time. More instruments than you even knew existed, clinics, demo's, meet n greets ...... its a full day of sensory experience. Come down on the Saturday and hang out with me at the booth.

I am not getting back into work until January, as most of the business has left town anyway. I think I will duck out of town for a few days R+R after New Years Eve, and then when I get back it will be business as usual. We'll solidify the Camp Freddy plans for 06, I'll get to work on getting the UNRELEASED album together, hopefully begin working on some music for another TV show, and start to see what we can do with the tracks we recorded at Matt's studio. The King Mob Music site will continue to grow as my web experience grows, and we will launch an all-new Camp Freddy site as well. Finally, with the late addition of an I-Sight camera into my set up, I am looking for ways to incorporate that into my blog world. I intend to post some video blogs, but all other ideas are welcome.

Thats basically it from me, although I do have to say a big WHAT UP to Norman the X-Ray guy from Dallas Airport. And here's the thing - the whole airport/security/no lighters policy is crazy. They take all the lighters from you when you get on a plane, but when you get off, there is NOWHERE to buy another one. So all the smokers are milling around outside the luggage carousels, trying to find the one guy that smuggled one through!! So I'm going through security at Dallas Airport, and of course, one of the X-Ray guys is a Cult fan and recognizes me!! I am SURE that because I write on here so often that my coffee and cigarettes are so important to me, he KNOWS I must have a lighter somewhere!! And he finds it ...."I'm sorry mate. I have NO IDEA how that got in there!!". But Norman was very cool, and I am glad that he has found his way onto the blog. Welcome mate!!

OK - Gone. Time to run a few errands, and maybe go shooting this afternoon. Peace and Love to you all.

PS - A late addition to the diary as I just couldn't resist posting this cheesy-ass pic I took late this afternoon after a trip to the range with a bunch of our friends!! Lame pose, but very proud of the grouping in the target. Another fun afternoon. NOW I'm gone!!

Peace

Billy

"If only I could tell you. Camp Freddy is moving into new territory next year on a number of different levels. I can’t tell you anything because nothing is written in stone. But there is a lot of exciting stuff being talked about".

Ack! Bring it Billy! We can't wait!

Billy, when we flew back from Paris, they took all of our souvenir lighters away from us... the ones shaped like Eiffel towers that said "Paris" on them, etc. My son was so mad, he spent somewhere around $40 on souvenir lighters for smoker relatives and airport security took them all away. They wouldn't even let us put them in our checked luggage.

Are you allowed to take matches onto the plane? Because if so, that's probably the way to go.

Hi Billy,
Wishing you the best in 2006 for you and Jenn

Dude I’m sort of excited, they used three of my photos... And I just realized that Rolling Stone used one of my Scott pictures. You know for someone that’s still doesn’t have a pro camera yet, that’s pretty freaking cool.

My goal for 2006 is to start to build my website (with Cass’s help)… and finally go buy a decent camera to take killer shots with (the Nikon D200 I think)

Anyhow, awesome article, I can’t wait for the next Camp Freddy Concert. I know it’s still early but will you be playing any gigs soon with your new project?? Have a beautiful day,

Wendy

DOOD WHY ARE THE AIRPORTS SO LIGHTER-PHOBIC?....IM ALL FOR SAFETY/SECURITY.....BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS.... I CAN'T THINK OF ONE SINGLE INSTANCE HOW A LIGHTER COULD BE A THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY.....OK THEY MAKE A LOUD POP IF U THROW THEM INTO A FIRE.......BUT EVEN IF U DUCK-TAPED 500 LIGHTERS TOGETHER AND SOMEHOW MANAGED TO SIMULTANEOUSLY EXPLODE THEM ALL AT THE SAME TIME ONNA PLANE.....IT WOULDNT COME CLOSE TO BLOWIN A HOLE IN THE BULKHEAD.....MIGHT SINGE THE CARPET A TAD........OOOOHH.....RUGBURN......AND EVERYONES RINGING EARS......MITE DISTURB THE INFLIGHT MOVIE.....BUT MOST CERTAINLY WOULDNT BRING THE PLANE DOWN........AND TO ACCUMULATE ENUFF LIGHTERS TO EVEN FATHOM THE IDEA OF A BOMB........WOULD CERTAINLY ATTRACK A LOT OF ATTN .....CAN U IMAGINE HAVING MORE THAN YOUR OWN BODY WEIGHT IN LIGHTERS? HOW ABOUT A SUICIDE DISPOSABLE-LIGHTER BOMBER? HAHAHAHAHA......OOOH MAN THE MIND WOBBLES!!! ......ACTUALLY I DONT KNOW WHY IM RAMBLING SO PASSIONATELY ABOUT THIS.......I DONT EVEN FLY....SNICKER......BUT IM A VERY ADAMANT SMOKER AND STOOPID PEOPLE W/STOOPID RULES REALLY RUB ME THE WRONG WAY......UC13

Hiya everyone! Wow! I am astounded at the amount of security there in the USA. They used to be pretty lax about it all. Is this just you can't have it in your carry-on or on your person; or is it also you can't have it in your luggage that goes in cargo?
I've done so much traveling. especially back and forth between the US and the UK, so that's why I'm interested. We had crackers at Xmas dinner, and my Dad got one of the usual gifts-nail clippers; and said he couldn't take those on the plane. Wierd.
I got stopped for a metal nail file when I was flying out of Tenerife. I did a little demonstration of filing my nails for the guards, so they let me keep it.
I just can't imagine you could do much with nail clippers? Who knows though? Lighters I get. Taking your belts and shoes off?!! That's like going into rehab!! I've a feeling they got some of their ideas from rehab, and psychiatric hospitals/wards.
(off to write my thesis! :P)
Billy, good shooting. All on the head I see.
And I love Dolce & Gabbana. Nothing like that in these parts..or I haven't found them yet. I would have been even more broke if there were. I stopped myself from going to the sales. Tempting. Plus I'm still sleeping off my Xmas dinner. And it's very cold, and snowing.
Question: I LOVE the t-shirt in the last photo? Where did you get it?
hugs
Lisa

me again! :P :D brilliant article, interview on gibson site. definately a keeper! i'm sending the url around to my family. I was telling them about Camp Freddy at xmas dinner. I would've told them before if I'd get a chance to talk to them more!

Hiya Billy,

Just wondering what you thought of the CD...I saw it made it onto your Ipod but wondering whether you've had a chance to give it a listen. If so...anything in particular you liked better than the rest? Anything you didn't like?

Also, please have quiet word in the ear of Mr. DN as it appears the posting of the Podcasts for CFR is becoming infrequent...with the time difference listening live is difficult so the Podcast is my weekly fix...and I'm going cold turkey at the moment!!! :)

Question: What is so horrific about seeing women's nipples these days?

Posted by: ylais at December 28, 2005 11:01 PM

Billy, glad to hear you made it home in one piece and the holidays were good. After connections in Denver and Portland where my wife Deb and I lierally ran for the next flight while they held it for us, next time I vow to leave more than 34 minutes between connections... especially considering my luggage JUST got to my house at 11:30 tonight.

Not sure if anyone's asked or suggested this before but is there any chance of bringing Camp Freddy to Canada? Us Canadians are feeling neglected...

I gotta say bro, as many others probably have, I was introduced to you through the Cult (am I'm sure many others have been too) but dude, you have impressed me (as a fan) to no end through your open-ness to us fans and your accessability. Kudus to ya bro. Thank you.

Btw, did you get that 360 for Christmas?

Center mass... ;)

Hi Billy
I hope you and your wife had a great holiday weekend and Happy New Years! May 2006 be the best for you both! I was wondering, do you have a myspace page? Okay, maybe I'm lame, but I am trying to pimp you on my page! I hope you don't mind links to your stuff???

Peace and Love all!

Posted by: Stardreme at December 29, 2005 05:21 AM

Stardreme, welcome honey! Billy doesn't have a myspace page, but Caffeinated Sue and Uncle Creepy have both made banners on their page that pimp THIS site, maybe you could be his myspace hostess...

Happy Thursday to you all, Billy, new CFR this Saturday, or is the Giant Village on Wilshire going to make parking impossible?

love,
jezzi

Posted by: jezebel at December 29, 2005 08:25 AM

I'm a new myspace whore... I'll be sure to add a link to here tonight.

Nice shot!
Note to me: Do NOT make Billy angry.

Posted by: beth at December 29, 2005 09:15 AM

Hopefully a dumb question, but one I need to pose nonetheless.

NAMM tickets. Does ticketmaster sell them? Do I need to knock over a record store and grab theirs? Inquiring minds need to know.

Posted by: Kate at December 29, 2005 10:47 AM

Kate,
You have to be a member of NAMM to get in, or know someone who can get you a pass. It is not a ticket sold to the public.

Posted by: beth at December 29, 2005 09:05 PM

Booo... Don't know anyone that's a member of NAMM.... I would love to go :(
