GIVING THANKS TO HARRY POTTER
Ah - Thanksgiving. Just think, if they had brought a roasted cat with them when the Pilgrims came here all those years ago, we would all be eating pussy today!! Which also makes me think - if all the turkeys have bird flu by next year, what will we all be eating?! Lets have a poll - what would be the best replacement for the bird next year if disaster strikes and all the turkeys are exterminated? Am I just deranged today?
I have another thing on my mind - Public Service Announcement. People Of The World. It is my duty to inform you that appearing in public wearing sandals is a blatant affront to all decent minded citizens. It is hereby deemed completely inappropriate and in extremely poor taste to wear sandals at any time, except maybe if you are on a beach!!

I just stood in line at the movies and watched at least five or six people in front of me take their seats, completely oblivious to the heartache and emotional trauma they were causing the other patrons, by wearing .... shorts and sandals (with velcro straps!!!). STOP IT!
The big review of the day is the Harry Potter movie, the Goblet Of Fire. As you regulars will know, I love the books (even though I havent yet got around to finishing 'The Half Blood Prince' yet) and have loved the movies so far. But todays movie left a little to be desired. The big picture is that the 'picture is big' .... HUGE! Massive sets, epic, sweeping vista's, enormous special effects ..... but a very disjointed screenplay and a lot of the book left out of the movie entirely. You know, if you are a Potter fan, you'll like it. As I did. But I also found it very dark (both in lighting, and in tone) and just unsatisfactory in an intangible way. Never mind - it killed a couple of hours on a day when nothing is open, and everyone's scoffing down the turkey. So thanks be to Mr H Potter and the gang for being there.
I'll go up to Dave's later and hang out for a while, but for now I intend to kick back on the sofa, play some PS2, watch The Interpreter with the wife, and indulge in an afternoon nap. Goodnight!
Billy

Quail
.........or perhaps Pheasant.....would make a fine replacement for Turkey. But, these birds are just as wild as Turkeys, so I think there may come a time that Humans no longer eat Birds.
Not a bad idea, actually. Xcept that I like Birds.
Hppy ThxGvng To U & Yours Mr. Morrison.

My family would probably vote for Roast Beef to replace the turkey if it came down to it. We ate well today and then did something kinda "non-traditional"....we took the whole family bowling. We never bowl. And as a group, we suck at it on about the same level. But it was hella-fun!! We were the only people there. We laughed, fell down, dropped the ball, and took lots of pics. The seven children (ages 2-27) thought it was the best idea ever. So see, old traditions can be replaced with new ones. And sometimes they're even better!!!
*Giving thanks for Billy, and everyone here, and sending good wishes to all*

I'd probably cook up a Ham. We do ham for Chritsmas so I suppose I'd do Ham for Thanksgiving then for christmas just order a pizza or have some sort of family pot luck dinner.
Hahaha about the sandals with velcro straps.
I played about 5 mins of husbands Call of Duty. Of course he likes to "show me" how to play and ends up just playing again himself. It's like "Ok, how about we play my Gran Turiso 4, so we both can play!"...lol kids and their games I tell you.
Have a great night!

So...I guess our menu would be the same if the Turkeys all died! rofl

I agree on the whole sandal thing.
If no turkey then I vote for Tommy's Chili Cheese fries.
Giving thanks for Camp Freddy this year.

So Billy, whilst (yep, whilst...hope you're taking note CF listners) sandals are a fashion faux-pas, what is deemed to be acceptable footwear in the warmer months when one is strutting down the street?
It's heading into summer down here in Australia and, my friend, it gets mighty warm. What is deemed to be satisfactory in all manners of foot protection, yet also stylish, without making my toes and soles feel like they're in an oven.
Looking forward to your fashion tips. Maybe this could be a new segment for you and Dave on CFR - clothing advice for the less informed?
Hope those in the US are having fun on your four day weekend.

I am going to Harry Potter tomorrow, still can't wait to see Ralph fiennes and Alan Rickman.

No Turkey? Egads! Assuming the whole bird category is out if we are talking bird flu, I vote for Salmon or Veal. Medallions of Veal...wooooooof!
I'm up here in Seattle with my youngest son who's in college up here. Truly insane,.... I DROVE 1200 miles up here. Absolutely certifiable. I need to look into airfare for Vegas. I don't think I could do another road trip for a while. Except for tomorrow and Sunday, which is 1200 miles BACK. Thank God for my CDs. Long live Bowie.
BTW... tweezers waved in front of hairy, sandal-clad bozos usually does the trick. Enjoy your leftovers all!

Not sure if someone has already mentioned this, but I finally saw Billy on VH1's "I Love the Holidays". It was during the Halloween segment... very funny!

Lisa...Tri Tip is a particular cut of beef that seems to be very popular in California, in particular.
Billy...until last night I was a SRL virgin...I'm glad you were there for my first time, it was a blast ;)

Hmmm... I'd have to say ham to replace the turkey, but I guess that's kind of a x-mas thing though isnt it? I completly agree with you on the hole sandals thing. I'm very proud to say that I don't own one pair, nope not one! Ever see the sox and sandals?? That's the worst! Especially on guys; guys just shouldn't wear sandals period, unless, like you said, you're at the beach.
I really liked the new Harry Potter movie. I'm not a super fan like some people, but I've seen all the movies and read the books up to The Goblet of Fire, and so far, I think this was the best movie. It was really engauging and, for me at least, made me feel as if I was almost in the movie. At the very least, I had forgotten that I was sitting in a movie theatre watching it, it was more like I was right there, but then again, maybe that's just me.
Good luck with the left-overs!

hmmm, what to replace the turkey with? I say....spotted dick!!
jezzi(oh, you HAD to see that coming!)

Hiya!
Today (Saturday, Nov 26th) is Dave C's birthday.
Happy Birthday David!!! Love and hugs! xxxx
Thanks for clearing up the Tri Tip thing Cori. Wierd, I never saw that and I lived in CA for 3 years plus. Though I mostly ate mexican food, and japanese, chinese...so many choices! Making myself hungry now for refried bean burritos, dim sum, and sushi. I'm in a carb-coma, as DN, calls it, over
here in Wales..puddings, pies, bread. I miss sushi!
I love cakes, and pies..I got to stop eating so many.
UC-When you burn those sandles, make sure you video it! That I'd love to see. Those sandles remind me of one guy, some spoiled frat boy, in particular back in the US, and the association they have with that guy is enough for me to feel sick when I see them.
I was going to say ham to replace turkey, but I realised that would mean orthodox, and not-so orthodox Jews wouldn't be able to eat it. So nixed the ham. Can Muslims eat ham? I don't think they can??
Billy has us all beat anyway, with the roasted cat! :D
Love,
Lisa

I know what Billy is on about with GoF, it is as good as Prisoner of Azkaban but the reason it falls short is that this time it's action and growing up, not the all pervading danger of PoA. Sure Harry has to face these dangerous tasks but we all know he's going to get past them and they are 'indirect' attacks, whereas the threat of Sirius Black was very direct.
I believe what has happened was the sutblety and and drama of the last one has been replace by action and massive set pieces of GoF. That's not to say it isn't a good film, it is, but this one is more of a great popcorn flick.
Instead of turkey how about a giant Cornish Pasty, steak and veg at one end, mince pie/christmas pud at the other.
No Lisa, Muslims cannot have ham/pork/pig. They have halal [spelling?] meat which is butchered in a similar way to Kosher. So any kind of animals that root in their own mess are pretty much off the menu, so no rabbit then either...

Hey Billy, I saw Oasis on Saturday night in Bris-vegas. What an amazing show. The two Gallaghers boys where at their all time best, fighting with one another, joking with the crowd, screaming at technicians off stage - all the usual stuff that you get at an Oasis gig. All I can say is the British know how to rock. They played quite a good set and played homage to George Best as well. It really was a brilliant show.
Anyway I'm out of here.
Cheers.

Ok, so now it is gig review #2. I have literally just got back from the Foo Fighters. A-F*CKING-MAZING!!! Awesome set including dave playing drums while taylor sang, a guitar dual between dave and chris from separate sides of arena and so much more. if i get through i will try and call up cfr to give you a more thorough review on both.
I'm off to bed, cheers.

The whole roasted cat thing reminds me of a saying some of my friends have. It's pussy....we all come from there and we all try to get back there as often as possible.....
So happy today. Just found out the Sex Pistols are going to finally be inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame! :D
Posted by: Musemelodic at November 28, 2005 08:47 AM
ok - i'm with the sandal thing.. the only thing worse is when you see people with those sandals on WITH SOCKS!!
It's total birth control when you see people wearing that crap.. cause like, nothing makes you want to have sex less than sandals.
Posted by: redpill at November 28, 2005 11:35 AM
Hi Billy and Everyone,
Well as to your question about what would we eat Billy. I didn't even have turkey, my mother made ham and lamb with yorkshire pudding and other traditional english dishes as I am the only "Yank" as they put it in my family.
I listened to a little of the broadcast on SRL but I went to bed early.
As far as the sandal thing I have never done that and I think it is funny as shit. I mean do these people who wear these actually think it looks good?
Also thanks to everyone who was in the chat on wishing and trying to do a birthday song thing.
I had a really good birthday yesterday and you were all very sweet. Talk to you all later.

Good morning, Billy!!
I'm thinking you must be pretty happy today, since both Ozzy and Jonesy are going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame...I think Camp Freddy should tag along for the festivities..what do you say?
love,

Now that would be one helluva party!
BTW Billy, if you should finish reading HP & the HB Prince, talk about DARK.... goes to a whole new level. These films can't help but get darker. Personally, knowing in advance it was going to be chopped to hell, I still enjoyed it. Two words, Ralph Fiennes... DAMN! Loved what they did with his nose.
Posted by: Kate at November 29, 2005 02:46 PM
I love Ralph Fiennes! He and Alan Rickman are two of my favorite actors.
