ABOUT F#@*KING TIME!!

sex_pistols.jpg

First of all, I would like us all to pay massive respect to the greatest Rock And Roll band of all time. The announcement that The Sex Pistols will FINALLY be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame next year is a huge achievement for those guys. Its been long overdue, and quite frankly, very few bands have changed the face of popular music like The Pistols. When you have The Clash and The Ramones in that thing, its almost impossible to ignore the glaring ommision, and I am truly happy to see that will be rectified now. Well done guys - bet you never thought that would happen when you were trying to learn how to play Roadrunner in Denmark Street 30 years ago!!!

I have an Asian Cuisine hangover this morning. A very rare condition, it comes from eating way to much blackened cod and edamame, and I believe that the cure is known to be an hour of cardio and an hour of Pilates!! The last few days have been a little dull, and I haven't really had much to say, but I am feeling rejuvenated this morning and wanted to get back into the swing of things. So here I am. The coming weekend should be a lot of fun. An all new Camp Freddy Radio with Navarro on Saturday, which always wakes me up and has me laughing hysterically, and the Vegas Camp Freddy gig on the Sunday. Sounds like a perfect weekend to me.

While I remember - I will be at the Namm show in January, at the Gibson booth, doing some signings and pictures. I am not sure of the details just yet, but I will be doing it on the Saturday. The show runs for a few days, but I will be down there on the same day as Dave (at the PRS booth) so that makes the journey down a little easier, as I am sure we will ride together and make each other laugh. So if you are going to Namm to check out all the latest equipment, stop by the Gibson booth and say hi.

I am still waiting for my next web lesson (which I think is tomorrow) and I am looking forward to it. I actually fired the studio computer up yesterday (after about two weeks of inactivity!) and started work on an idea I have to do a few obscure cover songs from my youth that I want to put up on a page on this site as a free EP. I will play and sing everything, and the reason is simple. Because I enjoy it. Eventually I would like to make the free music thing a regular feature, and have original tunes, with artwork and videos, all downloadable from here. But I intend to start off with a few covers of some songs from when I was in the UK growing up. So far I have decided on a Wasted Youth B-Side (no - not the American band, Wasted Youth, but the UK early 80's Goth/Glam band) and a Flesh For Lulu track. I'll do five or six songs, some computer artwork, and a video, and put them all up here for download. Sounds like a good idea to me. Whaddya think?

All the 'alternative' Thanksgiving foods were funny, but I have to say that Trip Tip shook my soul!! Isnt that artificial Turkey??!! Personally, I vote for a good Sushi platter and some flourless chocolate cake with green tea ice cream. Think I can make the whole country change its ways? And the sandal thing obviously touched hearts and minds everywhere! There is a slight misunderstanding, however. Cool flip flops work well. Adidas, Nike, Gucci, Chanel .... even Puma - all do great summer footwear. Its not the open toe thing that bugs me. Its the 'all terrain', brown colored, velcro fastening, hiking type things - that they then INSIST on wearing white socks with!!!! THATS what has to die! So go down to the sports shop, get a nice simple pair of 'straight across' Adidas or Nike flops, and BURN the rest!! OK - thats enough about footwear ..... unless we start on the Dunks!

I have rambled for long enough. Its great to get my thoughts down in a post again, and I appreciate everyone who passes by this site. I have another couple of meetings today, and I might go shooting this afternoon. Now thats turning into another full blown addiction for me. Hmm - shooting and scuba diving. If you had told me I would be interested in those things when I was lying in an alleyway, stoned out of my mind, 10 years ago, I would have called you crazy!! Weird how life changes subtly and one day you wake up, things are totally different, and you didnt even notice the changes. Wonder what will be happening for me 10 years from now? We shall see, I suppose. Have a fantastic day everyone - I invite all questions and comments, ideas for things to do with this site, artwork, banners, buttons - whatever you guys want. Its your site.

Til next time.

Billy

All hail the Sex Pistols!

Hi Billy! What an interesting, busy life. I wish I could go shooting, but I think I'd turn it into something illegal, so big no-no for me.. :)

Alternative Thanksgiving? Not for me.. I could see eating healthy and organic all year, but Thanksgiving I need the sausage stuffing, juicy dark meat with gravy, whipped potatoes with cream cheese, you get my drift hee hee..

Thank you very much for all that you've done for us here.. I love it.. have a great rest of the day!

I love to shoot (not kill) stuff!!! Probably why my Nephews have gotten me playing paintball with them...it's a rush, for sure.

Every tried it Billy? (Paintball, that is)

Have a beautiful day :D

Billy,

Agreed, great to hear about The Pistols. Very exciting news indeed, can't wait to hear Lydon up at the podium assuming he won't shun the entire thing altogether that is.

Staying on the subject, any ideas how much input the band will have on who introduces them? God fucking forbid the powers that be roll out Billy Joe Armstrong or Chris Martin, either one would be puke inducing. I would love to see someone who was actually there and witnessed the impact that band had at that point in time do the honors.

Any insight on the process or who you'd like see
handle the intro/induction would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jay

Ugh...if Bill Joe Introduces them I will vomit. How 'bout Billy Duffy. The story he told about seeing The Pistols with the Buzzcocks in Manchester in 1976 on the 9/26 CFR was very cool.

Gotta agree with Cori - Paintball kicks ass. One word of advice though...wear a cup!

Hey Billy, just left this on Dave's site as well, but here is a link to a very interesting UFO story outta Canada.

I've had this curiousity to see how RSS feeds actually work. Researching on exactly how RSS feeds can be used has been on the back burner for sometime now, until last week. I found a way to put RSS feeds to use. On dohenymedia.com on the news page there is now an RSS feed of your blog. When any of the links are clicked on it brings the user back here to Billy Morrison's Blog. So far I've only been able to customize the font, and font color but not the size. The font is HUGE!!

I'm off to continue to bury my head in webdesign. I've been working on about a 75 page website.

Have a wonderful day!!

Also very excited about the idea of the EP. You just keep giving and giving Billy. Thank You!!

I've got a question, did you ever get into Sonic Youth? If you do like them, what's your fav. album?

Posted by: amy at November 30, 2005 06:16 PM

Sounds like you've got a couple of things goin on, sounds pretty nice...scuba diving... I'm so jealous, I sooo wish I could go with you, that would be so much fun... ahh, only if I was a rockstar and had enough time to do all those fun things....

I dig the EP idea, quite novel and it's free (at least for site visitors, I'm sure it costs you, at least, some time)! You should go back on Spread Radio Live and debut your covers when your done recording, etc. I am pretty sure I hate ALL open toed footwear though. I especially despise capri pants on guys with the open toed.
I'd like to say good job on the blog, you and Dave both tend to provide some good amusement!
Any one whom thinks this blog shit is super easy should try it themselves!
Peace!

Billy

Good news about the Pistols. But i bet Jonsey couldn't give a F#@k in typical Pistols style. The covers E.P sounds like an excellent idea can't wait to hear it. Thats the way the net should work, posting Demos to let people hear get a feel.

Have a Great weekend

G'day to you, Billy!!
Next time you're on the computer during Spread Radio Live, you should pop over in the chat room with us. It's usually a pretty lively group. And we'd love to have you add to the hysteria!!

Again I ask:
What's on your wish list this Christmas, and have you been good enough to get it?

Have a great day,

Good morning family,
I just wanted to pop in here and send a shout out to the lovely Julianna, who sent me a cd of my guest host gig on CFR all the way from Virginia!!
I have not been having very happy days lately, and to make me smile is no small feat. Thank you, Julianna, you are my angel! And thank you, Billy, for the love and warmth that you bring out in your fans.

hiya! i'm back! i'm in a new house. it's a mess.
only because the movers were jerks and randomly created piles of stuff up to the ceiling, then left.
i think they couldn't read kitchen, and bedroom, and living room on the boxes. that is couldn't read at all. it's an obstacle course in here. fortunately ntl came on time today and hooked up the tv. broadband, and phone.
just checked in to say hi! i'm so exhausted.

Billy, I love the cover ep thang!!!

I think nog comes from noggin as in 'use yer noggin'
ie your head. and there's a head on the beer.

Posted by: ylais at December 2, 2005 03:34 PM

furthermore (Oo) a noggin was a wooden mug used in taverns that those milk and egg drinks were served in. and when we say 'touch wood' we tap our head. let's play how many links can you find to a word.
my family usually make egg nog with whisky. or brandy. not beer. yuck.
