THE CURE FOR THE BLUES

As some of you said in your posts, the cure for the 'general malaise syndrome' is absolutely to go and do a selfless act. Do something to be of service, and the Universe will respond. I wake up this morning feeling like we actually made a difference yesterday. The whole Indie 103.1 Marathon has raised over $60,000 so far, with all the top dollar items, like The Beatles lyrics and Ozzy's glasses still to come. They all went onto ebay to raise as much as we could for The American Red Cross. But with the auctions and pledges, we are already over $60k. That is just amazing. Thank you to all of you who were listening and bidding. I know that a lot of you and the 6767'ers were helping out. Simon called in from Australia and pledged $100. Nancy bought Duffy's jeans. Kate won the Sunset Strip Ticket package. Erics Dad was pushing hard for the weekend with Sorum in Vegas (and although he didn't win it, he made sure that the winner paid $2600 for the pleasure! And the winner turns out to be our very own Bobbi-O!! Dude, you are in for one hell of a ride, my friend. That Sorum character knows how to roll!!! Enjoy - and thank you.) It really was an incredible show, and we were all sad that Dave was unable to be there. I feel that we might do a small, mini Freddy auction next week, to add to the grand total, and to bring Dave into the fold. We'll see what happens.

Its been a great weekend so far. I attended a Celebrity Poker Party on Friday night, at one of the sickest mansions I have ever seen!! Cantrell was playing, along with a few other friends, and the whole party was just insane. Games everywhere, models walking around in lingerie, remote controlled powerboat racing in the enormous swimming pool. Craziness of the highest order!! I also have a copy of the last Star Wars movie on DVD (no names mentioned, but thank you very much! You know who you are!!) so I watched that as well. And the strange funk that had enveloped me for a few days there seems to have lifted, and its life as we know it again! If ever you needed proof that the Universe takes note of your behaviour, then last nights CFR was it for me. Put out the good, be nice, do stuff for others, and you will be taken care of - try it. You might like it.

That whole idea I had of wrapping up the week, doing a caption photo etc?........Forget it!! I am shattered. Gonna enjoy the new lease of life I have, and take my wife to lunch. (After Pilates, of course!!) Have a great Sunday, put some goodness back into this world, and I'll see you all next week. Thank you again for an incredible day of radio.

Peace

Billy

Hey Billy, glad you're over your funk. Do you think you might take up some sort of humanitarian work on a semi-regular basis? I remember someone once saying there is nothing greater then the gift of contribution to the betterment of the world we share.

I've not been responding to your blog recently, but I have been reading it. Trying to find a place to live at the moment, as I'm between places.

Have a good sunday, and take it easy ...

Billy, I can't find Ozzy's glasses, lol? I was the first, and now it seems, only bidder, before you moved it to ebay.

could you post the link when it goes up?
I called back and pledged 50 dollars, and told the sweet girl that was answering the phone to spank you for referring to me as a 'bloke'!

Thanks to Kate, who not only was the high bidder on the Sunset Strip package, but also donated two of her own Camp Freddy tickets to the efforts, that's my girl!!

anyway, love to all,
jezzi

Thanks Jezzi. I was glad to be of service. Whether it's giving blood, clothing, time, money, your ear or a smile, it does and can make a difference. Practicing those wonderful random acts of kindness each and every day makes it all worthwhile.

I'm meeting the promotions dude down by the radio station this afternoon to pass over the goodies.

Last night's show was amazing!! Glad you're feeling better. We have a few thousand people here in Hot Springs taking refuge. It was so overwhelming to walk into the convention center last week and be able to put human faces and names to the tragedy we have all watched unfold on the television. I listened as several families recounted the event that changed their lives (I was told letting them tell me their story would be part of their healing process), watched my young son interact with children his age who were trying to make sense of their new routine and circumstances, and watched with awe as our church managed to feed hundreds of people on a moments notice. This storm not only changed a city, but lives. I know it's put a new perspective on mine. I wish everyone a good Sunday and a beautiful week.
Peace-

Hi Billy,
FYI I posted in the VR site about the posibility of a mini CFR auction. There is interest in some more Matt stuff. Anyhow, many of the members there also read your blog. With enough notice I think the bids might be a little higher :D

I'm just saying...

Hey Billy, it was my pleasure, haven't heard from the people yet though to take my details. As far as I see it though, there are people out there who need the money more than I do.

Awesome, congrats to all of you!

Love the pics, Billy (and those glasses)!

Billy, my boyfriend's mother went to China over the summer and bought Star Wars 1-3 for my boyfriend for $8. She didn't realize that they were probably bootlegged, she didn't know that the third episode wasn't out on DVD yet. But anyway, it's in English with the option of English subtitles. However, the subtitles are from another movie! We think they are from "The Piano". It's pretty funny to watch with the subtitles on.

How does Camp Freddy feel about profitors on Charity? The show at the Key Club is a charity show, yet there are people on EBAY and Craig's list selling these tickets for profit? How does Camp Freddy feel about that and do you plan on doing anything about that? It's very disappointing that people who really enjoy Camp Freddy cannot go because of people like this. Just wondered what your thoughts were!

keep up the good work!

No one's called me to take my money yet.... sniff. I have my money, Red Cross, come & get it!

Posted by: Kate at September 13, 2005 10:42 AM

Me either Kate....hopefully 2morrow!

Hey simon - I found a website that streams the tests!...On the 5th day of the 5th test so I could watch us lose but....it was cricket! I could only listen before.
Bloody poms! ( No offence Billy but, you know, it's the Ashes!)
Cheers!

Got my phone call, and looks like I'll be able to pick up my Sunset Strip package next week. Whoo hoooo!

Is anyone else going CRAZY waiting for the show on the 29th???

Posted by: Kate at September 15, 2005 09:49 AM

Billy,

Following up on the "Breaking Bonaduce" discussion, did we hear any of your work on the debut?

And you were right on the money, the show is off the scale INTENSE. It's absolutely gripping television, a must watch.

More reality fodder, it's down to 3 on Rockstar INXS, smart money's still on Mig here even though he's a bit light in the loafers. Much like Jordis, Marty's better off not getting the gig and JD should pop up on the Surreal Life at some point..

Thoughts on the above?

Thanks,
Jay
