TECHNOLOGY SUCKS (BUT I STILL NEED MORE!!)

Billy_and_Macy.jpg
In the last week, I have gradually dug a huge hole for myself (out of choice, no less) and jumped in headfirst. I am talking about the amount of technology in my life and my insane decision to change it all at once. First of all, the decision to completely tear down all my internet stuff and rebuild on a different server in the same week as a Camp Freddy show was not, perhaps, the brightest decision in the world. This meant that emails went missing, blogs looked weird, and suddenly I realized that I just didnt know enough about what I was doing. On top of this, I have had the Camp Freddy video drive go down. I have a bunch of drives dedicated to different stuff, all rackmounted in my studio, and all of a sudden, the one that contains every piece of Camp Freddy video footage just decided to make some weird noises. So that involves buying a new drive and taking both to the Drive Doctors, paying serious money, and hoping they can rescue the files from the dead drive. Was it backed up? No.

I then decide (without too much thought) that my cellphone needs to be upgraded. I spend an hour on the phone convincing my cellphone company to send me the latest Treo 650. They finally agree, and I feel like I have won a small victory for the common people. Until the handset arrives. I send my old Treo back, start using the 650 ..... and discover that no one can hear me when I speak on it!! "Hello?......Hello? ...... can you hear me? ......If you can hear me, call me back on my land line...."
Oh yeah - and the bedroom Tivo stopped recording shit for no apparent reason.

Treo.jpg

Not a great week so far!! But the irony is that with all this techno stuff finding a life of its own (and not the life it was intended for) I still find myself thinking about how much more I could incorporate into my life!! "If I just buy that new piece of studio gear, then my life will be complete".....There HAS to be a lesson in all this somewhere. But I am just not willing to learn it right now!!

Welcome to UncleCreepy - hope you have some fun around here. And Dave, the link didn't work for me. Maybe I have to adjust the blog and allow html in the posts. I'll check it out. Ylais - I was in Camden around the early 90's, and yes ... I probably know the guy you mention!
I am continuing to work on the blog - font colors, archive posts, size of columns etc. Shouldn't be too much longer and we'll start to get some content in here. The photo galleries should be first. And then maybe we'll get King Mob TV going - some streaming video would be nice, right?

Its ALL about the show tomorrow. It will be a long day, but a very worthwhile one. I look forward to getting back onstage and playing - but today will be final phone calls, emails, etc. Except that the emails are down and the cellphone doesnt work. GREAT!!!!!

See you guys soon.

Billy, well, it looks like my son will be coming with me, look for the tall blond man/child, looking incredibly embarrassed at his mother's behaviour, and give him a wink, will ya?

LOL...sounds so familiar. Bottom line Billy... BREATHE! (and then run outside and yell "BLOODY HELL!")

The show is gonna kick ass and then some.
The internet sites will get there, maybe not in your time line, but they will get there...

Just know that we'll be there tomorrow night, ready to rock and have a kickin' time! I, for one, can't wait! I need to buy some boots tho... must have new boots. Time to shop!

Billy,

Blog looks f'ing great, looking forward to watching it evolve.

Which leads me to this question:

Will it be possible to post some CF footage?
I'd love to see Isaacs rockin' "Sanctuary" or the lovely Terri Nunn rocking whatever the hell she pleases (me likey Terri!)..

Site related, it's been tough posting. Haven't been able to scroll down past the "URL" portion of the comments section of late. Working OK now it seems...

Thanks,
Jay

Posted by: Jay at September 28, 2005 05:10 PM

woohoo i can finally see the comments box. Lisa, you don't need to do me that favour now as you can see.

Just watched Lost, it was okay but ended good and the previews from next week's show look awesome. Can't wait.

And David, I see nothing wrong with Lisa dancing around with teddy bear slippers to a cult song. After all I do it all the time, but only in bunny slippers. ;)

smooches,
tina

To see the clip you have to make sure you copy the whole link, even the two marks/stars at the end that look like quotations. Here you go:

Posted by: Simon at September 29, 2005 12:11 AM

I can post on PC =) Good job Billy, but yeah, a little bit of bad timing to start it this week! Well its coming along, and I know it will be great. Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!!!!

lol, Tina. I watched Lost last night and I'm well..lost...I've figured out a few, well not a theory exactly, more like relationship between things like names, and other stuff. I'm staying away from the more regularly used in movies theories, like it's purgatory. I've got a feeling it has something to do with nuclear testing, (global warming, radiation, nuclear weapons n war...) There's tons of different philosophies packed in there so.. Since it's a Camp Teddy, Camp Freddy show tonight; we can get into that some other time. You guys got to focus on the show!!!
hugs, Lisa xxxx

Jeebus, I'm gone a couple of weeks and all kinds of stuff happen.

I don't envy you one bit about the new technologies. Don't get me wrong, I like using all kinds of new gadgets and gizmos ... as long as they don't give me a headache. Like Dreamweaver ... that gives me a headache. So I don't envy you with all your site re-designs and stuff. Good luck!

I'm just starting University next week, and JS / Jon's brother Mark will be one of my business teachers, which is pretty cool. Have you heard any of his This Is Menace album? What do you think?

Without the internet at my new place, wont be posting here so much, but like to think I'm here in spirit ... or something.

Kim :)

Billy,
Just had a similar experience with the new computer I bought. My brother (the geek genius) said it was a "bad-ass" computer and I was excited at the prospect of all I would be able to do with it. So the first time I sit down and push the button to open the door for the disc drive, the front panel pops off and lands in the floor. Not two minutes into it and I broke the damn thing. Freekin' technology hell we're in. *puts on shades and applies the sunscreen*
Have a great show!!!

Wow, just saw on the news that massive fires are burning in LA. Everyone ok?

How was the CF show all?

Posted by: Simon at September 29, 2005 11:37 PM

Did anyone else notice what was going on with that shark in Lost??? Ylais? Tina?

Posted by: flamingheart at September 29, 2005 11:57 PM

Show kicked ASS!!!! Loved it Billy! THANK YOU so much! I have no voice and, my neck is thrashed. Life is GOOD!

Simon, the fires are in the northwestern part of Los Angeles in an area that is largely uninhabited. When I left for the show tonight, only one home had been lost at the time. It's primarily in canyons and valleys, hopefully it's not moved and threatening any more homes. The smoke however is horrendous and goes for miles. I live a good thirty miles away from all the fires, and I can easily smell the smoke if I go outside. Hopefully they get them all under control soon.

Posted by: Kate at September 30, 2005 01:09 AM

hey bro,

you're singing voice is superb. it's much better than the singer in your band doheney. i play in 2 bands, both of which have been playing search & destroy live every single gig for the past 5 years. tonight you sang the best version of that song ever. great show.

Posted by: chris at September 30, 2005 02:25 AM

Hey Billy, awesome show! I must say, the pilates...whew those abs my friend!! I wanna be your dog!! heh, one of my faves, as always. You should be proud of your young students, Camp Teddy, as well. They really pulled it off. Good job boys!

Posted by: Abby at September 30, 2005 03:43 AM

flamingheart, i did notice the shark, i think it was after them because of sawyer's gunshot wound, probably blood in the water but I think the other guy shot it

Posted by: tina at September 30, 2005 04:22 AM

What Abby said! Your shirt went off and we both were like"dammmmnnnn" thank you for coming to sing I Wanna Be Your Dog to us, and the damn cell phone DIDN'T get the pic, but the image will stay in my mind! (Nice Dunks)

You guys rocked it, Billy, would like to hear you sing more often, you rocked Search and Destroy!

A pleasure meeting you, Kate, Laurie Tuttle and Theresa!(homegirl)! Off to daydream about men who do Pilates...

Posted by: Junebug at September 30, 2005 08:53 AM

Tina my little bunny slipper... there is something ELSE up with the shark. I will hit you on MSN so as to not ruin it for you know who.

Watch carefully Billy!
