SPECIAL CFR TODAY

1031_logo

You guys fucking rock!!! Whatever is going on with me right now had a nice ten minute hiatus while I was reading all your advice/support/suggestions/. It's just part of the game, I suppose. It will pass, and I carry on regardless. But thank you for all the posts.

CFR today will be Matt Sorum and myself (as Dave is unable to make it this week) and I will be on air for an extra two hours, from 4pm - 6pm, because Indie are running a 40 hour live radio marathon, to raise money for the Gulf Coast Disaster. So I will be doing an extra two hour stint to help out. Billy Duffy will be joining me at 5pm for an hour, and I have Buck Cherry coming in as well for a little bit. The whole point of this marathon is to raise money, and we will have a lot of cool stuff to auction. Basically, get your wallets out, stand by the telephone, and call in and bid on something you want. The radio station is pulling out all the stops to try and help these people and we should all do the same. And besides, we have great stuff to auction.

I'll do a whole post tomorrow, answer and reply to all your posts, do a caption photo (cos they make me smile!!) and generally catch up on the week. For now, its all about raising money for charity. So I am off to make a playlist, and get my shit together for four hours on the radio. Bring on the coffee!!!

Peace

Billy

Hey Billy,
You are doing what I feel is one of the best antidotes to the funk you're going thru & that's getting out & doing something good for someone else.
These hurricane survivors are going to need so much for a long time.
I think these last 12 days have been depressing for everyone. Not only to see the devistation but to see that 'the emperor has no clothes' in such spectacular fashion day after day -
Truly gobsmacking.
You know, when other people feel like you do, some of them listen to your music & it makes them feel better.
Hope this thought at least cheers your heart a little.
Biggie hugs.

I really like this board and that you are so open about what is going on with yourself....:D

agree with Laurie...best antidote is to sometimes just simply be active. As for making people happy with your music, that's kinda what I was getting at with my post yesterday. Your music has helped me a great deal to get through some tougher times. It's like they say, you always have the music to fall back on. Sometimes you just need to clear your head, dance around the room like a Sufi and fall back to the ground!

It is natural that alot of people lately with everything going on feel the whole "collective consciousness" vibe. We can try to remain and act separate all we want, but when it really comes down to it, we are all connected in some way. It's logical that all this turbulence is affecting us in one way or another.

"Faith is an oasis in the heart which will never be reached by the caravan of thinking" ~Kahlil Gibran

Thankyou also for the heads up about Billy Duffy being on your show with you. His music has helped me a great deal too :) Even though you are raising money, I hope you two get silly at some point. :P I'm kinda with jezzi on the British accent explosion too, lol. Little do you Brits know, sometimes all you have to do is talk and we Yanks are all melting, melting...pretty funny.

Hugs to you Billy,
~Muse :)

i still can't believe what the hell just happened. i really can't.

first of all, this should never have happened. it's saturday night - 99% of the time, i am out getting my boogey on! purely by CHANCE, i was home...purely by CHANCE, i stopped by billy's blog. this is truly insane. the deal they put together - ESPECIALLY after that guy Brent sweetened the deal - it is an absolute steal. are you kidding me?? with ALL of the stuff included - hotel, gigs, club, dinner - you would be blowing close to that amount anyway. bring a friend to split the cost, like the guys at the station were going to do, and it is a STEAL (i know more than a handful of people who will be giving a whole new word to the term 'kissing ass'). i had planned on going to vegas in the spring, and would have dropped quite a bit of $$ anyway. on top of it all...you get to party with Matt the whole friggin time. i was listening, stunned, that no one was bidding...i'm listening over the internet, from new york for christ's sakes. cannot believe it took so long for people to bid.

billy, kudos to you, matt and indie for putting this weekend package together and for your efforts with all of the hurricane relief stuff. and kudos to brent bolthouse for making me lose any sort of rational thinking and putting me over the top! i had planned on giving a weeks worth of salary to the relief efforts regardless of what took place tonight. in all seriousness...bringing in the officer on the show was what really sold me. i work in the news business and on friday i finally spoke with co-workers face to face who were down in the gulf coast providing news coverage. the looks on their faces was undescribable. kind of like a thousand-yard-stare, if you will. we see pictures and video but to truly understand what is going on down there...you can't put into words. so to be able to give $ to these people who so desperately need all the help they can get...while having what will probably be one of the most insane weekends of my life, to me, is a no-brainer.

now, if you excuse me, i have to go sell my car and left kidney to help pay for this. i'll figure i will start riding a bike towards vegas next weekend in the hopes that i make it there in time! vegas, here i come.
