WORLDS END
I tend to have weeks of relative calm and then suddenly a phone call will throw it all out of the window. I can stay out of the madness for a while, and then a quick, harmless browse on Ebay suddenly wakes the monster inside, and I am off and running. I am talking about shopping, people! Retail fever, the 'gotta have it' syndrome!! And its been fine for ages. But yesterday, my friend who manages Vivienne Westwoods store in Chelsea, London called and left a message. Now I know that he's not calling to see how the weather is doing in LA!! No way people. He's calling me to tell me that she has done some limited, must have item, and he knows I'm gonna want it. And sure enough, when I called him this morning, it turns out that Vivienne has reissued the cream and red squiggle boots from her Apache/Pirate collection. He knows me well. Of course I had to have them. So one credit card conversation later and there is a pair winging their way over the atlantic as we speak. For those of you not familiar with the collection or the boots, check out the pic. The ones I have bought are on the very hunky looking guy far left. Now if anyone has one of those blue and gold squiggle tops that the girl next to him is wearing.........
What about Brandon on Rock Star? Out!! Well, I suppose he really was a southern rock singer and wasnt right for their band, ....INXS! But it was sad to see him go. Who's voting for who? My money is on Mig, but then again, they could go for Jordis if they really wanna make over. Either way, its all fun and games, and I love the show. We watch it religiously.
Camp Freddy are starting to plan a show in LA sometime in October that will be open admission - another show that everyone can come to. We said we would, and I will give you more details when we have them. It will take a couple of weeks to figure out where, when, and how, but I promise we will be doing it, and as usual we will make it a great show. We just want to do another show that isnt a corporate or private affair. The last one at the Key Club was insane, so we are up for another one. Once the details are in stone, I'll tell you all about it.
I am still writing songs with a couple of friends and it is going really well. I think we'll demo a couple in a studio soon, and see how they sound. I am singing in the project and its fun to be writing lyrics, and leaving the guitars to other people. Again, I dont wanna give too much away. I am taking it nice and easy with this, and if it turns into something, then of course I will let you all know.
There will be a new CFR for sure this weekend. Last week was a crazy misunderstanding, and Dave and I thought we'd been fired!! But we have NOT been fired, and it is all good over at Indie 103.1. Dave and I will be back in the studio on Saturday and you can be assured that we will be ready for a good show. Its been a while since I was in there, so bring it on!!!
Kim - Actually, Camp Freddy do Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak all the time. In fact that track is one of the first from the album to be finished. Jerry Cantrell sings the lead vocal, and Billy Duffy plays lead guitar.
Jay - I play on Hello Again, and Say Goodbye on the new Tommyland album from Tommy Lee.
Laurie - Yeah. My guys name is Todd, and he is the fucking BEST!! He gets in there, with both cameras and just gets the shot!! He is part of the Camp Freddy Family.
Junebug - Doheny are taking a break from the insanity of deal getting. Everyone just got really busy with other stuff, and sometines its best to come up for air. The songs are out there in 'business land' and we decided to just chill for a while. We'll see.
Ylais - Funnily enough, there is something Freddy being planned for October but its LA, not NYC, and I dont know that its the Vanity Fair thing. But the 19th springs to mind randomly!!!
OK - thats it - I am outta here. Have a great day and speak soon.
Peace
Billy

i turn 30 today. and i am bummed! please tell me life in your 30s can be just as fun as life in your 20s (actually, if i just have have half the fun i did in my 20s, then i am set)
oh can you give me satan's phone number, i'm convinced that you and your mates like navarro, cantrell, sorum, duffy, kiedis, etc, have made a deal with the devil. you all have full heads of hair and generally seem somewhat fit. i see some dudes in or close to the age of 40 and they look like they got hit and dragged by a truck.

bobbi O...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
I can tell you, from personal experience, that the older I get, the sweeter life is. Hope you enjoy your day and don't fret...30 is a great, great age to be!
Billy...I'm voting for Mig, JD and Jordis. I believe Mig is the front runner, JD's talent cannot be overlooked no matter how big a jerk he is and Jordis is not right for INXS at all, but will have an amazing solo career. I just keep voting for her as a show of respect.
Are you going to find time in your hectic schedule to pop in on the Rock Star Poker event that Dave is playing at in Las Vegas later this month???
How is Harry Potter coming??? From the sounds of it...you've probably had no time to read. Have you heard spoilers...do you know how it ends???
Have a beautiful Thursday, Billy!

Mig's definitely got my vote as well. He's consistently good, and an easy fit for the band. Jordis, while excellent, would be a harder sell for INXS (just my opinion). Marty is a close second in my book. Either could work.
October, eh? Bwahahahahahahha. So do I get my mates from the UK, Germany and Romania to pop over for this one Billy? Can't Wait!
Kick-a%% boots btw...

Happy Birthday, bobbi O! I cried on my 30th (from what I remember) try 37 (2 weeks!)
So Billy, when you receive your boots, you have to post a pic! (BTW, I had emailed a pic for the Rogues Gallery..)
Have a great day..

Billy.
Mig all the way here, he's the right guy with the right voice, look etc. Jordis and Marty are obviously the most talented, it would serve them better in the long run if they didn't get the job, the exposure alone will get them a shot at the big time.
JD belongs on "The Real World", he's just playing a character..
Thanks,
Jay

Billy,
One more thing, about the boots, I'm down. I think you should throw on a puffy shirt and play a continuous loop of Adam and the Ants for old time sake.
Could pirate chic be in vogue once again?
Sweet..
A good Thursday to all,
Jay

Jay, you should be over here now, we've got some kind of revamped gypsy pirate thing going on in fashion.
(I keep seeing things, and going damn I had that in the 80's, way back..when I was 14, 15, 16...)
Billy, I remember those boots too!
So cool you got them. :D
Did someone in Bow Wow Wow wear them? I'm not sure if it was them, or someone else..well the obvious would be Adam and the Ants. I swear I remember one of the guys wearing those. (breaking into song.."Memories" a song which I can't stand, but it's bloody stuck permanently in my brain)
I had the cheaper copies of those boots. Same boots, all red. Damn, did they take the piss out of me in the States wearing those. I almost got expelled for wearing black suede pirate ankle boots to school. And my classmates even told me I'd gone too far, when I showed up in school with feathers plaited in my hair. Oh the joy! My boyfriend wouldn't go to the Ants concert with me because I'd taken up face painting, he was too embarrassed to be seen with me in public. Must have been just not the right guy for me! :D
Yo Ho Ho!
October, LA..hmm...thanks Billy!
Love to all
Lisa

Happy Birthday Bobbi O!
I was fine on my 30th. I had too much to think about I guess back then.
I'm crying now. 39 in October.
I know the feeling though.
Numbers. I dunno. Let's be rid of the number thing. If I didn't know what age I was. I'd be happier I'm sure!
So, er, drink and be merrie, and forget your age. (I cannot believe I just advised someone to go have a drink! :D I'd drink coke myself)

if you do wear the kilt and the boots.. we think you may as well dive all the way in and get the squiggle eye patch too.
Posted by: sonicgeisha at August 11, 2005 07:56 PM
LOL put me in line for that show too, I love a man in a kilt. yummy!!! ;)
El and heidi, didn't I tell you both to behave before I went to bed last night? ;b

Don't mean to be pessimistic but when we kind of expected some Doheny news, based on the July 23rd blog and today it's everyones taking a break, my confidence is not, shall we say inspired.
I just get the feeling things are going too hot, I see it is totally not within the bands hands to make or break themselves but it sounds a real bummer. It's great Billy that you have so much to do to keep you busy. I just wish for you guys that is was just Dohenyand it becomes what you want it to be, and not 'what it could have been'.

I think the world would be a *much* better place if we all wore scrunchy boots & lacy pirate shirts!! I don't know that the kilt thing translates to everyday wear all that well, but if certain musicians (who shall remain nameless) decide that the kilt is their new look, I'd be ok with that. As long as they don't cut their hair!!
Have a good weekend everyone - we're escaping to the mountains to get out of the heat here in PA. It's downright unbearable!

I hope MiG is the next vocalist for INXS. I like Jordis too, but I think they should stick to having a male lead vocalist. I think a lot of them would be very good in their own band and should pursue a career in singing, but they aren't right for fronting INXS.

Just called Tower Records in Costa Mesa (closest Tower to Npt Bch) & they said no they don't have Camp Freddy t-shirts.
In fact "Who are they?" was the response.
D'OH!!!

Hey Billy.Do you know if CF or Doheny will be in San Diego anytime soon? thanks bro
Posted by: Kefer at August 13, 2005 07:18 PM
Hi Billy,
I think you are right on with the INXS picks.
Is it hard to get into a CF performance?
Are people waiting outside for hours? or can you get tickets in advance?
Thanks,
Matt s.

(laughing at Linda)
It's always about the hair, isn't it?
:-P

Why are labels being so stupid?
Doheny needs music out.
ok, let me rephrase that....
i need to be able to buy Doheny music.
Ever considered going the DIY route, building your own little studio in your basement, and just doing any entire album that way? Labels have to love when they don't need to sink any money into anything.

Sorry about the tower records news bit. I should have checked the source.... I just took it for granted that it was true, didn't question it. I guess I was just excited.
Billy the Rock Star taping was definitely interesting to say the least...
It was nice to see you and Jen there.
