THE WEEKEND OF ROCK

Chopper_3_sized

Not a lot going on right now. My head is in my computers (what a surprise!!) and I am keeping a low profile after a week of Ozzfest and Rock Star:INXS. Saturday was the LA Ozzfest and those of you who listened in to CFR this weekend will have heard my fairly lame broadcast from Ozzfest. I say fairly lame, because when I called in, nothing was going on. Immediately after that, all hell broke loose between the Ozzy Camp and the Maiden Camp. I am sure I dont need to post about it here as it is all over the internet. Suffice to say that it involved eggs, water, comments about Bruce Dickinson being a prick, and a naked man with a huge Stars and Stripes flag!! Lots of rock and roll drama, and your on-the-spot Ozzfest reporter was unable to report on any of it!! I mean, I was there, I saw it all go down ..... but was unable to call in, cos I was too busy dodging eggs and staying out of the way of 10,000 screaming Maiden fans!!! It was a fun day (especially the chopper ride into the venue - the pilot gave me a photocopied picture of the venue, taken from a satellite, and said ....."do me a favor and keep an eye out for something that looks like that!!!".... whatever happened to state-of-the-art navigation systems???!!!!!.

The next day was spent with the cast and crew of the Rock Star show. We went to the taping in the afternoon, and then went up to the Mansion for a night time Jam Session. Acoustics, piano, and lots of singing. It was a nice, laid back affair, and Jen and I had a lot of fun. Mig, Ty, Jordis and Marty are definately the top four, and they were all in fine form, singing and playing in front of an invited audience. We snuck out about midnight and went home, exhausted from the long weekend.

And now its back to work. Phone calls about the CF September 29th and October 19th shows, trying to finish lyrics and vocals on these demo's I've been working on, keeping up with the crazy Pilates schedule I have going on, and generally lazing about. It seems that the rest of this month will be a quiet one. September will be some behind the scenes work, and then October should be a pretty busy month with some CF shows, some of the TV airing that I did earlier in the year, and an announcement or two.
Enjoy the quiet, Billy, cos you know it'll be kicking off soon!!!

And before I go, I need to say a HUGE HAPPY BIRTHDAY for Thursday to Harriet. Have a great birthday and dont do anything I wouldnt do ...... which leaves it WIDE open for ya!!!!
Peace to all, I'll be back soon.

Billy

Hey Billy,

I notice that the Stones haven't announced any of their opening acts for Southern California yet. How about trying to get Camp Freddy on the bill! After all, Ron Wood is an honorary member of Camp Freddy :-)

Hiya!
Now I'm feeling bad for giggling about the Maiden vs. Ozzie fight; but it's your fault Billy! The way you wrote it, had me picturing you in the middle ducking everything. And the chopper pilot giving you the pic! (rofl) Lucky you have perfect eyesight now innit? (or 'tisn't it?' in welsh)
Somehow I stumbled across this top ten death metal pics this A.M. Does this beat the men in sandals? What could beat that?!

Billy and gang, I have a story for you all, it's just too good not to tell.

This past weekend, up camping, the camp grounds were full and people were just hanging out chatting and stuff. A family with a hard top tent comes in and they're put in a field because it's full. So the guy gets out, friendly like, chatting with some people and works on putting up his tent. The kids pester him that they want to go swimming. He's almost done so he finally tells them they can go but to be careful, he'll be down in 10 mins.

So he goes in the trailer and all of a sudden you hear this big crash. Everbody looks over to the hard top tent. The awning thing ripped off and it tipped over, he forgot to brace it. He and the wife are thrown out of the thing stark naked. She's screaming, and tried to scramble back in the way they came out but she can't get in so she has to run around and go in the door. Her and hubby come back out dressed and pack up the trailer, and of course the kids want to know why they're leaving, but she just says they are. She doesn't look at anyone the whole time.

Everyone else just stood around and clapped when it happened and burst out laughing when they left. I feel for her but it was so funny.

Tina~That sounds like "Malcolm in the Middle"! Too funny. Poor things though. I bet that guy got an earful. I would have stayed. Probably taken a bow.
"Thank you. Thank you very much!"

Funny story Tina!

We went camping last year with my (then) 16 year old son. A couple across the way from us apparently had a bit too much to drink and had very loud sex at around 10:00 at night (those canvas tent walls sure are thin!). They too received some applause from fellow campers. However, they didn't seem to care, they carried on the next day like nothing had happened.

I, on the other hand, was totally traumatized by witnessing the event with my 16 year old son.

Ooohh, can't wait for the Camp Freddy shows!! Are they both public??
I had my very own TV-buying dilemma/funnyish story, but the stories today seem to be about camping, so I'll have to think if I can remember of any.....

Classic, Tina! One of those "priceless" moments..

Billy, I have to know your take on this Maiden / Sabbath debacle. From most accounts Sabbath and the osbourne camp were in the wrong and acted in a really disgusting manner.

Never to shy away from your own opinion, what do you have to say about it?

Hey Billy,
Will the be an all ages show??Can't wait to see everyone again....

Hi,

First, congratulations for sticking with the Pilates. I know it can be difficult when you haven't been working or for that matter throwing your body around for awhile. So, have an e-pat on the back...

As for the CF shows coming up...do you know if Billy Duffy will be playing at any of them? Nice to see you all playing out again..hope to be at some of those!

Be well,
Mya :)
