RELAPSE ON SPOTTED DICK!!
So I have been aware of a store in Santa Monica for years that sells English foods - things that you cant easily find here. But up until now I have just not thought about seeing what they have and wasn't too bothered. I don't really miss the UK cuisine - especially the stodgy, heavy, carb laden stuff I used to eat!! But on Thursday, we flew out of Santa Monica airport to go to Phoenix and I was a little early. So it seemed like a good idea to check this store out. BIG mistake!! This place had everything that is so wrong, and yet so right about English food! I went crazy in there - I bought packets of biscuits, chocolate, deserts .... I cant believe I lost it like that! And I found these deserts that I used to love when I was lying around, stoned out of my mind. They are called Heinz Puddings, they are kind of a sponge cake the size of a melon, that have things like treacle, and strawberry toppings. You put em in the microwave, and nuke them, and then pour tons of cream over them!! I mean, I used to just sit on the couch, get loaded and eat about 10 of these things. They are SO bad for you! So I bought two - a treacle one, and one that we call Spotted Dick!! Its sponge cake with raisins in it. And I came back from the show late and ate them both!!! I have been eating really well lately, to get maximum effect from the Pilates and Cardio that Ive been doing. So I feel like I have relapsed!!! This shit is like drugs .....I was standing by the microwave, waiting for the things to be cooked, and I poured tons of half and half over them. I mean, who names a desert "Spotted Dick"?????!!!! Just the name alone should be enough warning. NEVER again!!! Its back on the lettuce leaf sandwich without the bread for me!!!
The show was great. Although it was about 107 degrees when Ozzy hit the stage. But the show was sold out, Sabbath played a fantastic set, and he sang note perfect. A good day out (except for the packet of Custard Cream Biscuits that I demolished with a cup of tea on the plane!!). Today will be my last Ozzfest of 2005 - its the Glen Helen Los Angeles show, and this one is always a lot of fun. All my friends go down, so I'll hang out with everyone, and try and do a few phoners during Camp Freddy Radio. Dave will be in the studio with a guest, and I'll provide the 'On the spot location reports' - we'll see if Ozzy will have a quick chat with Dave once we get there.
Kate: FUNNY shit!! That caption had me laughing out loud!! ...."Ah sayd Brother Dayvid-ah ...... Yeaaaya ....... beLIEVE in the Lord, yaaaayes!!"
Dimemax: I can neither confirm nor deny that Mr Cantrell and Mr Duffy will or will not be appearing with Freddy on 29th. But if I were you, I'd look at the CF site, and see that neither have missed a Freddy show in a year!!
Ylais: Eyes off the belly!! And believe me - after my pig out on Thursday, it doesnt look too hot right now!!!
Bobbi-O: Yeah thats Chris in the pic. Chaney is our core guy and is part of the Camp Freddy core band. But he was on holiday at the time we played HOB so Wyse stepped in and played an amazing show. Mr Chaney will be back in action for the Key Club show. Incest? Us? Never!
Jay: No comment.
I am outta here - I have a few things I need to get done before I leave this afternoon. Luckily, I don't have to drive to the Ozzfest, so we leave about 5pm, which gives me some time to work out, get some errands taken care of, and maybe do a bit of work before we leave. Had a great night out last night with Duffy and Jon Ferris from INXS - went to dinner and then to the Whiskey Bar at The Sunset Marquis. Nice to hang out with those guys and their girls. Very adult, very social, I dont do enough of that kinda thing. I tend to work hard during the day and then collapse in front of the TV late at night. So thanks guys for a nice, civilized night out. Have a great weekend everyone, and enjoy Dave on CFR. See ya.
Peace
Billy

Glad you liked my caption, seemed a natural. Yayesssah!
Enjoy Ozzfest. I seriously thought of going, but I hate Glen Helen (takes 3 hours to get of their parking lot). Now am kicking myself since Ozzie said he's not going to perform them anymore. There is still time... it would be lawn, but..hmmm.

Takes 3 hours to get "out" of their parking lot. I do speak English, really. More caffiene required. Have fun Billy!

Kate!!! Not anymore, so much, how long has it been since you went there, they have made some improvements, most of them due to Ozzfest!!!!!
Billy, tsk, tsk, please! it's in the IE!! San Bernardino to be exact, although they try to distance themselves by calling it DEVORE!! The first time I went to a concert at that venue was the first US festival, was it '82?..ah, good times, good times, you could just park your truck or vehicle of choice on a fireroad, and walk in!
not that I was old enough to DRIVE back then, lol
Have a great time, my son was just there a couple weeks ago for Anger Management, his first concert, I have raised him well, don't you think? I am hoping to score some tix for tomorrow nights show there, Tom Petty and the Black Crowes, I feel a bit too old for the metalheads these days
love to you and yours, looking forward to hearing you tonight

Jezzi, the last time I was out at Glen Helen was for Aerosmith/Kiss concert, and yeah, it took that long to get out. That was pre-fire, so at least a year ago. Aerosmith played a shorter set that night too, and the Kiss fans got all the good fan clubs seats. I paid $175 (per ticket for fan club seats that usually got me up within the first 6 rows, and I was like 30 rows back. Grrr and Argh.
To headbang, or not to headbang...that is the question... whether to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous parking conditions...
shutting up now.

i myself had the pleasure of catching ozzfest last week in seattle, and i gotta say. . .it was amazing. particularly iron maiden's set, what with me being named after a maiden song and all. . .;) and seeing sabbath was just unbelievable.

puddings, puddings, puddings..cakes, biscuits, custard, clotted cream...oh god how i've indulged since i got back to the UK.
spotted dick. it never fails to make us giggle. Billy, I've been there, when I was in the States, a madness takes over when you see all those goodies. I'd drive miles to the next state to get them. And suitcases from England were always stuffed with loads of food like that, HP sauce, Branston Pickle, Salad Cream, Ovaltine, Marmite, crisps, chocolate (especially the white mice).. spent a fortune. Anyone who came from England to stay had to bring all that stuff over hidden in their baggage too! :D
Anyway, great to hear you call in to CFR! Was hoping for another call from you at Ozzfest on there, but it was a good CFR, nice new chatroom over at 6767. Torn now, 6767 or Doheny chat!? Be nice if I could be on both at once. Missed my pals from over here! Tina did you stop by there? I was having a hard time typing on it! (mind you I haven't been around for chat lately, so that was a rare treat)
Loads of love and hugs everyone

I was in the chat room too.
I called Dave to say g'day from Simon from Oz who was in the chat room & was trying to call the show & couldn't get thru. Gotta love the www eh?!
Talking to Dave & typing to the chat room at the same time - multi-tasking overload!
@jezzi - US festival-that's where I know you from! ROFL!
Gang of Four, Oingo Boingo, B-52s, Police, English Beat...definitely good times, good times!
Sorry Billy - never really dug the Spotted Dick!
My luggage is full of Milo, Cherry Ripes & Tim Tams coming back from Oz. Thanks to Cost Plus, I can get Vegemite here now - YEAH!!!

That shop in Santa Monica, that's the one the Osbournes went to in their show isn't it? Ozzy did right? I think it was to get English chocolates and stick it in the chocolate drawer in their kitchen, cos it was full of crap sweets and choc. right?! :D I was rofl at that. I so identified with it.
(give our love to Ozzie and co! right everyone?!!)

Hey Wendy... isn't that one of your pictures in Rolling Stone Magazine?
Posted by: Kate at August 21, 2005 10:22 AM
Gotta love something with a name like "spotted dick". *still giggling*
On the Ozzfest note, do you know anything about what happened between the Oz-camp and the Maiden-camp?
Have a relaxing Sunday everyone!!

Billy,
Regarding your "No comment" response to my initial speculations on a Duffy collaboration, when do you as an artist feel it's cool to let the cat out the bag when discussing
projects?
Is there any professional protocol you are guided by or is just a level of comfortability you have to find before going public?
A good Sunday to everyone.
Thanks,
Jay

Hey Billy,
Mcvities chocolate hobnobs?:) Angel delight? hehehe I'm intrigued to know what else you got. Do you love or hate marmite?
Just listening to the CFR with Rachel Hunter and heard you mention the Eagles of Death Metal. They actually sounds nothing like their name implies; it's a Josh Homme project, with Josh on drums, and the singer/guitarist looks like a rock and roll version of Ned Flanders from the Simpsons! Trust me, you'll have to search out a photo to see what I mean :)
Trying to finalise getting a place in Brighton ... why is it so difficult finding somewhere to live, when it's such an essential part of life!

Billy!!! I thought MY weekend was eventful, but NO!! you got to go to Ozzfest, see the drama between the Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath camps unfold, and then go to the Rockstar mansion and hang with the kiddles!!
How fun was that!
love to you and yours, and all my doheny goddesses!!
