BACK IN BUSINESS.

Billy_solo_2

Wow. As quickly as that, its all over. Paradise does exist and its called Wailea in Maui! But we are back in LA, feeling refreshed and relaxed, and its back to business. It was fun to post the pics of the diving - oh, and I have to give a HUGE shout out to Lisa, who sent me some water wings!! I got them when I came home, which is a shame as I could have used them when I was diving with the sharks!! Thank you so much Lisa. I had a big smile when I opened the package! Very sweet of you.

So, whats happening in LA? Well, apart from Jackson being aquitted on all charges (Jesus!! What's next?) its back to life as I know it. Doheny are taking a break from the rehearsal room, to write some new tracks, and to give our management some time to get this fucking deal in place. Its a nightmare out there - no one is signing anything, and while we have had a lot of interest, trying to get someone to actually make a decision, and put pen to paper is very, very hard. But we have irons in fires, and we know we have a great record ready to make, so we will keep doing what we do. Rest assured we will let you know of any movement when we have news.
Camp Freddy are getting ready to go up to San Francisco in a couple of weeks to play a corporate show up there, and there is a rumour that we might be going to London to play a party. Cant say too much, but I will post all the details once its locked in.
I am also busy here in my studio, working on more cues for the Being Bonaduce reality show on VH-1 that I have been involved with - I love doing it. 30 second pieces of instrumental music, locked to picture. Its very challenging and the people that I am involved with are all very cool. So I have one to get started on today.

Camp Freddy Radio has been nominated for an LA Weekly award - Best Radio Show - and the awards are tonight. So fingers crossed everyone -

Bonita - You know what? I have an unexplainable fear of wasps!! Not bees or flies, just the vicious looking wasps. I know they wont kill me, or even sting me if I dont antagonize them. And its kind of stupid, as I have no problem swimming with sharks!! But the look of a wasp gives me shivers!!

Kim - GREAT website. And thanks a lot. Now I have another toy to obsess about, research, and eventually drop a ton of cash on ...... just what I needed!!

Dave C - Some of the pics were shot by the guy that we dived with, and some were taken on a cheap, waterproof snap camera. Its better to have a guy with you who has the real deal camera, as flash is very important underwater.

OK - So I am back in business. Good to be here - Its looking like June will be a quiet month for Doheny (which is just as well, as the last 18 months have been HARD work!!). Freddy will see a bit of action, which is always nice, the CF album will have more work done on it, and I will continue working on a couple of other projects I have in the pipeline. Not to mention getting ready to shoot my first role in a movie in July!! No - its not the lead in a $50 million Hollywood blockbuster! But it is a speaking role, nonetheless, and I am very proud of myself of having got the audition!! Again, more details once I have shot the scenes.

For now its See Ya Later. Gonna fire up the studio and get started on that cue. Thanks to you all for sticking around, and I'll be back in a day or two. Hmmmm......The Caymen Islands look nice.....maybe I could find a week or so in July.......

Peace

Billy

Billy,

You mentioned Freddy possibly going to London and I was wondering how that would affect your guest selection. Will you guys load up the regulars or focus mainly on artists that are based in the UK? (Adam Ant anyone?)

Or maybe a bit of both?

Thank you,
Jay

Welcome back, Billy!

Camp Freddy in San Francisco in a couple of weeks? How about a week and a half - can you pull that off? I'm going to SF (as well as a mini trip to LA) next week, it would be crazy lucky if you guys were playing a show while I was there.

Looking forward to new tracks!

I'd deffinitely be interested in a London show. I just hope it's not an exclusive one I wont be able to get to.

Actually, do you handle Camp Freddy bookings, or do you leave that all to management? Something I'm helping put together you might be interested in for summer next year in England. Should I email you about it? dohenymusic@hotmail.com ?

thanks

Welcome home Billy & Jen...not missing any bits & pieces either - well scuba'd!

It blows my mind & pisses me off that you're having a hard time signing a deal - you're soooo great! Sad news for other bands out there.
There is so little respect for art in this country - you can't imagine how precious an art/music/drama etc class has become in the public school system. I remember having them all every week (back in the day). We're(a bunch of parents & educators, rebels all!)so aggravated by the school system, we're opening an elementary charter school (Aug'05) with a focus on the arts. Otherwise, in 20 yrs musicians/artists/actors etc will all be endangered species!
I'm happy you're Livin' The Dream!

Hey, the 'rumoured' CF UK gig....wouldn't be in Hyde Park around July 2 would it?
That would ROCK!

Hey All,

I know you're not allowed to say anything about the film Billy.....buuuuuuut: Just tell us if you're going to be a token "baddie with an English accent"!

London gig......oooooh, like everyone else I hope it's not going to be an exclusive affair...

Glad you're both home safe and sound. And relaxed and refreshed. *crosses fingers for the award*

ps. The same fear as my husband. He's not afraid of much, but a wasp will send him running.

Awww, Hi Billy, and you're welcome! :D
I'm glad you and Jen had a great holiday; but I confess I'm also very happy to have you back too. It was a treat having you check in during your holiday, and share it with us.
Thank you to you and Jen.

Getting myself geared up for Camp Freddy in the UK! lol. Starting early. How about you RP? !!!
And the movie part, I with you on that Brit bad boy thing, maybe a Spike type character (we all know he's based on Billy Idol!)
Congratulations on CFR being nominated. That's awesome!

love and hugs Lisa xxxx

Billy, I saw this on the telly flicking through channels. While you were on holiday, Posh Spice Victoria and David Beckham were in LA. It was on about 2-3 days ago..they may still be there. I thought of you because Robbie Williams was at one of the parties, with Posh. (ermm..watch out, I can see her wanting to do Camp Freddy!!! lmao. And you just must have a pair of her jeans with gemstone crown motifs on the pockets darling. ...I'm just being silly. Robbie has the best sense of humour it seems. He always makes me giggle.)

Hi Billy!

Glad you're back and well rested! I know you said Doheny is on break from the rehearsal room, but will you guys being playing any local gigs?

Posted by: Junebug at June 16, 2005 09:21 AM

Sooo, Billy, are we being treated to a new CFR tonight? Any special guests? Any in-studio music?

Oh, I have an idea for a new segment on the show - instead of calling the girls from the weekly, we could e-mail OUR phone #'s to the station, and you & Dave could pick a number at random and call one of US. Since you're men of the people & all! ;)

Have a good weekend everyone
