URANUS IS ACTING UP!!!

Dh19bseantonyYesterday was a crazy day! The planets must have been right up Uranus or something!! It started with a gash in my front tyre, which meant two hours in the shop getting a new one, and having them align the steering etc. And it ended with rehearsals being cancelled due to Sean being stranded on the side of the street with his car broken down!!! In between these two events, lots of strange things, both good and bad, kept sliding into the day for me to deal with - for every bad thing that happened, a good thing would follow. So weird. Its pointless to go into details, but do you ever have those kind of days? I would get a phone call, saying that we have to change the time of something we are doing on Friday (which means contacting 8 other people and having them change their schedules to match) and then I would get a call asking me to do a cool TV thing. Then I'd get an email cancelling a studio session I have been looking forward to, followed by a voicemail informing me of another CF show being offered. Just crazy opposites all day long.

Oh well - its a new day and I intend to embrace it, whatever comes along. I have no animosity to anyone today and thats a good feeling. Even the Haters out there (of which I am sure there are many!!) - I wish everyone nothing but a good day. Life can throw curve balls at us all day long, but its just life. It happens and I really dont believe we are in control of it. I think we have a choice of how we react to things, and thats the part I concentrate on.

Jay - Its all a bunch of Heroin-induced playtime up to Stimulator, really. Fire On Ice, In2AO, Quick Gas Gang, another band I cant remember the name of, Stimulator, King Mob (One gig!!), The Cult, Camp Freddy, Doheny. I'll get around to doing a proper one at some point.

Kim - Do you mean the SG I am customizing for Breast Cancer? Its nearly finished - should be done by this weekend. And yes, I'll take final pics of it and post them up here.

Leon - Good question. Actually, Duffy influenced my tone more than my playing. His live tone in The Cult made me realize how important a quality sound is, and I spent a year getting the right sounding gear together to give me the tone that I was looking for - his playing is awesome, and of course, I learnt a few tasty Cult solo's along the way!! My idols have always been Jonesy (for his simplicity), Cantrell (for his songwriting) and Steve Stevens (for his absolutely amazing ability).

Bobbi-O - Yeah, trying to give up the caffeine is a tough one. I dont even bother - just dont wanna turn into a two headed monster!!

Brett - Yes, pics will be taken of the finished SG. And I already caught the thing on fire when I was branding the back of it. Left the brand on there too long and the whole thing caught fire!!!

So lets see what today brings. I'm looking forward to the weekend - CFR with Dave, followed by some Velvet Revolver at The Pond. But before that, we have a full day of Doheny rehearsal tomorrow, with some biz type people coming down to talk about a few things. So today should be relatively easy - but then again, thats what I thought about yesterday. Whatever happens, I hope that everyone has a great day, and I'll be back soon, with more inane ramblings. Check out todays pic of Sean and Tony - what could they be doing? What are they saying to each other? Best entires on a postcard to the usual address!!!

Peace

Billy

Hi Billy! I'm going to see VR too, I hope I don't get smooshed.

Posted by: amy at April 14, 2005 06:43 PM

it's too early for me to think of a caption but Lisa love your cucumber one ;)

Billy, if you're taking requests for CFR, I would love to hear "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" by Sophie B Hawkins. Ever since we mentioned her last week I can't get that song out of my head.

hugs,
tina

"I think we have a choice of how we react to things, and thats the part I concentrate on."

Well said. I wish that more people would adopt that perspective.

Hi Billy~ If you are taking requests for CFR, I'd like to hear "Ever Fallen in Love" by The Buzzcocks please.
Can you jump around a lot and/or pogo too and sneer please while it's on!?

Or "Into the Valley" by The Skids. That would be great. I had that tape and my Dad spilled a gallon of paint all over my tapes in the back of my car. Okay that was years ago but I'm still traumatised! :P He broke my stereo too, and jammed my Adam and the Ants tape permanently in there..trying to push his Eric Clapton tape in.

Love and hugs
Lisa

Sean~ "Yeah cool man...that song fucking rocks!!!"

Hey Billy! Love how you think of a bad day.. good inspiration! My car broke down yesterday also, completely shut down, I cried all the way home in the tow truck, thinking tranny, can't afford to fix that, and my neighbor checked it out and it was the alternator, so not bad and what made my day was sitting there watching my 2 yr old neighbor giggling and chasing bubbles.. love it..

Ditto on the Sophie B. Hawkins request ;)

Tony: "Hey Sean, why do those girls over there keep asking me if I know where your bedroom is?"

Posted by: linda at April 15, 2005 01:38 PM

Tony to Sean: "Psst... your fly is down".

Posted by: zannebee at April 15, 2005 02:19 PM

Sean~ "I'm waiting for these guys to put Spinal Tap lines in our mouths"
Tony~ "Shhh...don't encourage them"

Tony ~ "I think therefore I am"
Sean ~ "Essence comes before Existence"
Tony ~ "Au contraire, Sean, Existence comes before Essence"
Sean ~ "Imagine if this were all only a dream."
Tony ~ "Based on the principle of utility which proposes that if in a situation where one is faced with a moral choice one should do that which results in the greatest number's happiness..."
ad infinitum

Here's a question that is open to anyone who may know the answer...

What is whispered right after "conver-sation" in Drive Me?

http://www.dohenymusic.com/media/audio.html (54 seconds in)

I've listened to it over and over, but I still can't make it out.

Sue (where's my coffee?)

Oh, ylais... nice twist on my post. =)
