BACK IN TOWN - FOR A DAY.

MoombaAs the customs officer at LAX said to me yesterday ...... "Hmm - two days in London? You must have spent more time in the air than on the ground?" Yeah, no shit, Sherlock!!! So I got back late last night, and here I am at 5.30am, wide awake!! Its really weird that you take off from London, spend ten and a half hours in the air, and then land in LA three hours after you took off. Arrgghh - cant get my head around it! But anyway, I'm back safely (thanks all for the sweet 'Welcome Home' posts. It was an unavoidable trip - just needed to take care of a couple of things. But I am glad to be back.

First of all, a HUGE thank you to those who came to The Gig last weekend. (respect to Junebug, Jezzie, Mortisha8, Abby, Rain - from here on in to be officially known as ... The Girls!) It was a fun show - a little rough around the edges (as we havent played a show in months) but it was great to air the new songs we have been rehearsing, and great to get out and play. And Rain? WHY didnt you come and get a pic? I will never feel harrassed or put-upon. I have said many times that I believe a band is strong as its fans, and that's why I spend the time doing this Blog. Without building and maintaining a family feeling amongst the people that like your music, you have nothing. People like you, that bother to leave the house and come and watch us play, are the reason I do this. Period. So PLEASE dont feel weird about saying hello. Next time, its picks and pics all round.

A big welcome to Kefer - nice to have you here, hope you stick around and become a regular. We are a sweet bunch really!! And thanks for the kind words on the radio show - I really do love working with Dave and feel we do have a great chemistry together. You and Cori should write to MTV and request that TV show!!

Jezzi - I heard the 'I love you' loud and clear! Hopefully you heard my response! And Junebug - Clayden is definately a riot - a ONE MAN riot!!

Lisa - Nice to know the guitar is as good as it looks. And the plane flights? Well, I travel with a laptop, an I-Pod, an I-Pod Shuffle and a PSP. I dont even realize we are in the air!! The PSP is amazing for travelling - I finished ATV Off Road Fury and watched XXX and Once Upon A Time In Mexico on that thing!!

Donna and Abby - Nice pics girls. You are gonna be giving David Bailey a run for his money!! (Note to the confused: David Bailey was a very successful Royal family photographer)

Bobbi-O - Great questions. Firstly, I would like to say that Trent is amazing. He is a genius that consistently puts out records that actually mean something and make statements. And With Teeth is no exception. An awesome piece of work. Cant wait to see them in Vegas on Saturday.
Saving humanity by shagging a Desperate Housewife would depend on a couple of things - if it was a one time thing, then Mrs Solise would be the ultimate hot night. If it was a week or two of consistant 'getting to know her' type sex, then Terri Hatcher would probably be my choice. And if a whole relationship was the key to saving the world? ........ well everyone could fuck off!!!
And the Same Setlist thing - well, I do understand it. Both Camp Freddy and Doheny try to play different sets at each show - but neither band is on tour. Once you hit the road, its tough to change it up each night as the lighting guy and the sound guy have their cues and the show is one whole entity. You can throw one new one in every now and again, but it pretty much needs to be a similar set cos all the other people involved need to learn whats going on.

Karen - I see the Doheny Media site is coming on - good work. I promise I will send you a bunch of material once the Vegas and New York trips are over.

And speaking of New York - we are actually going to invite a few people down to that showcase. I'm not sure how we are doing it yet (keep your eyes here) but I know that we plan to have some of you (that are in the New York area) down to hang out for the afternoon. Its going to be next Thursday 5th May so post here if you think you can make it. I wanna get an idea of how many people would come down if we do this. More details to follow.

OK - so I will definately post again tomorrow before we fly to Vegas - I'll let you know about the New York audience thing (I have to see what Gibson say about having people come down - we are doing it in their building). Its great to be back and read all your posts - thanks for sticking around. I now need coffee - LOTS of coffee!! Thought you would enjoy this pic of Dave, Slash and myself from the second ever Camp Freddy show at Moomba in West Hollywood. See you guys tomorrow.

Peace

Billy

Welcome Back Billy!
Have a nice trip, Billy!

hahahhaha, does it seem like the next week is just going to be a pack, unpack, pack kind of gig?

Well, I have decided, since I am now officially one of THE GIRLS (don't forget sweet Willow!), that I must represent at the May 13th gig as well, so look for me there, I promise I won't peek under the curtain THIS time!!!

Lisa, your prize is on it's way, dropped it in the post last night...touched by Morrison hands!!!!

Billy, have fun Saturday! Does this mean CFR is a rerun, if so, can you rerun the FIRST ever CFR? That would be a kick
love

good answers. i'm totally immersed into with teeth and loving it. a different beast than the fragile. had the pleasure of seeing nin a few years back and manson came during the encore to do both manson and nin tunes. which effectively put an end to their very public spat. special moment.

i'm out of town for a few days next week, getting back thursday. i'd be down for the showcase.

Welcome back Billy!
(It feels odd saying that, when you've just been over in the UK, and now you're over in LA; and I'm saying welcome back. Welcome back to the blog!)
Thank you Jez!!! I can't wait. I'll be harrassing my posty.

Billy,

Speaking of the CF LV gig, should we expect
Duffy, Cantrell and the lovely Terri Nunn amongst the lumanaries?

Word has it a certain Mr. Reznor has been invited as well as Geordie "Twiggy Ramirez" White..

This gig has the makings for the best Freddy gig to date.

For those of the faithful not able to attend, how 'bout a preview?

Thank you,
Jay

Have fun in Vegas Billy! I was never able to run down tickets so, I'm eating my heart out! ;)

BTW...I do believe I will write to MTV about that reality show... :D

Lisa is in a huge sulk, coz she cant go see Doheny or Camp Freddy, I really think she would have considered going to the NY gig,she could visit family at the same time, but she has family visiting during May and we need to be here. Ironic thing is, one of the family who may be visiting will be coming from New York. Is that crazy or what.
Oh by the way, I would tag along as well, I don't want to miss out on all the fun. Maybe next time.

Good to have you back Billy.

Billy,

I'm not normally a double post kind of guy but I just saw that The Glitterati will be opening the UK leg of AVRIL LAVIGNE'S tour.

Am I off the mark here or is this nothing less than an odd pairing?

Shed some light on why in the name of John Lydon this has come to be.

Thanks,
Jay

Welcome back Billy.

By the way I’ve been transferring my photos to the site that Mr. Isaacs recommended www.flickr.com. So far I’m loving it! Tons of cool features.

The Camp Freddy pictures from January are finally up. Check them out if you get a chance. The best part about them is that they are in a slide show format; you can set it to super fast speed or slow it down.

-Welcome back . I really dig the songs I've heard from Doheny . Hope to see you guys in NY this summer.

-About the new NIN: I just started listening to Reznor's work last month and I really missed out-great stuff! I just listened to a preview of With Teeth and it's pretty solid.

Hey Billy,

Regarding your flight I don't envy you one bit. With all the advances likes the I-pod and PSP, you'd have though they'd have invented a teleporter by now :) I know if they did I would have seen a Doheny show by now, but I'm sure I will one day. I might even do the live sound for a gig one day, who knows?

Posted by: Kim at April 28, 2005 07:40 PM

Kim, I keep thinking the same thing. Where's my teleporter?
Though the thought of getting my DNA mixed with housefly DNA puts me off a little.

YES! LOVE that pic!

Jezzie! (and Billy!) Thanks so much for the pick! Very nice signature on back.

Indeed we did see you outside, Billy, and now that I think about it, I'm sorry I didn't come over and say hello. I'm really not shy around people and am ALWAYS the first one to go up to anyone even the tiniest bit famous. I guess I wanted to see if the other 2 of us 3 musketeers that were there had the guts... ;)
Honestly, I'm not too big on pics and autographs, so you probably won't see me asking for one. I think we're all equals and don't get why someone's signature, for instance, would mean more or be worth more than someone else's.
There will for sure be a next time, and I promise you that I will say hello and probably rave to you about your shirts.

You should come to the Panic Channel show May 17th.

Have a fabulous time in Vegas!
I love Vegas and fortunately will be going there July 2nd to see a (free) concert.

Awe..."The girls" I looooove it! ;) We felt a little like stalkers as we were standing out there waiting for the valet...and you were talking to the guy taping up his car. That was the first time I think I really got to see your beautiful wife...she's so little! For some reason I thought she was tall. Anyway, thanks for the invite...next time consider yourself "bugged" by us =)

So when's the next show??? (no, not that one....one that I can afford!! ;) )

Posted by: Abby at April 29, 2005 12:52 AM

You know what I think? Me and Tina have got to get together, and meet Billy and Billy. That's my thought for the day.
