A NEW WEEK STARTS RIGHT HERE

Detail_1Monday morning. The sun is shining, the squirrels are running along outside my window. The coffee is freshly brewed ....... and Soundgarden's Superunknown is BLASTING from my studio speakers!!! If Billy's awake, everyones awake!! Here we go again - another week of rehearsals for Doheny. Plus today, I will be getting together with Colin to finish the customization of the Gibson SG for charity. We dont have a lot to do now, but we need to finish all the edges of the metal, sand it all down and make it smooth, and generally tidy it all up. I hope they like it. Todays pic shows in detail the stuff we are doing to the poor guitar!!

Although I did the new banner this morning, I have to give props to Skott for the idea - thanks mate. Hope you like my version of it.

Yesterday was a nice relaxing Sunday - played a lot of Brothers In Arms on the PS2. What an awesome game - WW2 game with a squad of guys running around Europe in a simulation of the D-Day landings. I am definately becoming a geek with this stuff!! Watched that movie, The Core on TV (kinda shit film, but good for staring at and switching off!) and then watched a bunch of Tivo'd Seinfelds later on, after hanging out at the Tattoo Shop for a while. An easy day.

Karen - Deer Karen!! Gotta watch out for those things. I know a few people who have had bad accidents with Deer in the UK. Glad it all worked out ok.

Cori - Glad you like 'Watching It All Burn' - and the CF show is not a private party. I will find out how to get tickets and post the details tomorrow.

Ylais - The SID dolls are the real deal. Very collectable - and made by a friend of mine called Dave from South London. He is another Seditionaries collector and he did the dolls as a limited edition a few years back. Very cool piece, if you ask me. Which you did!

Jezzi - NOW it all makes sense!! The whole Pet thing has been fully explained, thanks to you. Thats funny!! Genius.

The Soundgarden album is finished, and the coffee is dry, so that means its time for Starbucks, and a Venti drip (I have been off the Gingerbread for months now). Keep the artwork and the ideas flowing, and ask any questions you want. I will be back midweek for an update, so until then - have a great week. And thank you all.

Peace

Billy

Billy,

Most of faithful here were made aware of you by your tenure with The Cult. I was wondering about your musical lineage, the things before/after Into A Circle leading up to Stimulator and how long you've been a professional musician.

A Billy Morrison timeline if you will.

Insight?

Thank you,
Jay

I love that soundgarden album, was listening to it again recently. I just love how the bass just drips through My Wave, and of course classics like Spoonman, Fell On Black Days and of course Black Hole Sun.

Was wondering what was happening to the custom Les Paul you were working on :)

billy,

thanks for the funny story about living in st. johns wood i remember my time there being kinda the same.
being a guitar player myself, i was wondering who are some of your idols and how much of an influence if any did playing with billy duffy have on your playing.

thanks,
leon

Great question/idea Jay!

I love Soundgarden..while I was playing with the pic on Photoshop, I was singing "Jesus Christ Pose" to myself. I've been napping most of the day, which I didn't really want to do, but had to succumb to the need for sleep.

Billy, I did ask you about the Sid doll, and thanks for answering. Now I'm going to have to confess to perusing ebay looking at dolls aren't I? I thought it was excellent.

The guitar is looking gorgeous. I like the curvy black tendril design, against the wood. (yummy) It's sumptious.

What is a Venti Drip? If you could have a coffee flavoured with anything at all, like make up your own, what would it be?

Tina, I don't think I can get Paintshop for Mac. Is that the Jasc program?

Over and out,

love and hugs
everyone

I'm such a poser fan, though I am faithful, I listened to the Cult, but never paid attention to who was in it...just like I would hear Jane's Addiction, but not know any of the band members....such a JEZEBEL!!

But, that is a great question Jay, in fact, it's a pretty good question to pose to ALL Doheny members,mmmmmm...Colin....mmmmmm....
ok, being silly myself here, I fell in love with Billy Morrison when I heard him on the radio, I do like my men funny, you know, not funny strange, but funny haha

ok, cheerio then

isn't 'just like suicide' an amazing song? superunknown is one of my all-time favourite albums, and mad props for rocking 'let me drown' on cfr. ;)

If someone is handing out drips from Starbucks, I'll take my Mocha Valencia Frappacino drip NOW please....one can never be too caffienated.

Why do they make their drinks all sound so pretentious? It's ice with coffee, chocolate and orange for pete's sake :-P

Posted by: flamingheart at April 12, 2005 11:08 PM

Maybe because the people who order the coffees are pretentious???? *duck*

hehehe ;b oh heidi, where have you been hiding?

Billy, love the new title and skott, nice idea you had for it.

Lisa, yes it's the Jasc program.

As for soundgarden, not if I've heard any of their music it's been by accident. ;)

I don't have much more to say this morning, I'm not even awake yet really, this is me sleep typing. ;)

hugs,
tina

okay I really am sleep typing, I meant to say I'm not really a fan of soundgarden so if I've heard their music it's been on the radio but I could not even name a song.

sheesh, i need another tea.

Tina, I can't believe you said that out loud, lol.
um, me neither, I mean, I have heard them, but didn't really feel em, you know, except that lead singer/guitarist is easy on the eyes...

Billy, rumors abounding that the Body English has been sold out for a while because of the 10th anniversary thing, what about some CFR giveaways?
Not for me, you understand, I am looking forward to TEN days from now, oh, and one month from now, that's right, the 23rd of April at the Gig, and the 13th of May at the Henry Fonda theatre, I have only been to Vegas once, and I didn't even stay, it was just a drive by, with kids, so I don't know if I could handle it!!!

Have a great day, Doheny family!!!
love to all

i've always been more of a badmotorfinger kind of guy. matt cameron is one of my fave drummers of all time, his drumming on jesus christ pose is off the hook...

speaking of coffee, i tried giving up caffeine for 2 weeks for certain health reasons. i lasted lasted until yesterday. 1 whole day. i was a cranky, nasty bitch. had an unbelievable, foggy headache. but as soon as i had that luscious cup of joe i was literally jumping in the air, clicking my heels. went from an irritable bastard to happy vibrant person in 10 minutes. amazing the effect that java has...

oh jezzi, you know me, usually I speak before my brain even engages ;) As old as I am, it takes awhile for my brain to even start nowadays.

Posted by: tina at April 13, 2005 09:12 AM

good god, bobbi, don't try to quit caffeine cold turkey - that's guaranteed to make you feel terrible!! You've gotta wean yourself of that stuff. Cut back gradually - you can do it in about a week if you have to. I had to do it by mixing decaf with regular coffee, and increasing the amount of decaf in each subsequent cup. It's not so painful that way.

Now when I do have caffeine, I get the pleasure of a really strong buzz.

damn woman, that's a good idea. half and half. i like that. i'll give it a try, thanks for the input :)

Billy-What's up? I hope all is well. Could you take a final pic of the SG when you are finished? Man,.... rock stars have all the fun. They get to break, snap, weld, tag and sand down guitars. How about lighting one on fire? ;)
