SEE DOHENY IN NEW YORK

Nyc_dohenyToday we are off to Las Vegas to play at the Hard Rock Hotel's 10th Anniversary Party. Very exciting. The show is tomorrow, but we are all flying out today so that we can be a part of the various other gigs, dinners and parties that are happening over the weekend. I'll do a full report Monday.

So my big news is that we have decided to have a few friends at the showcase in New York next week. We will be doing an 'up close and personal' show in Manhattan on Thursday May 5th during the day. The venue is very small and private, so it wont be a full on gig - just a few people hanging out with us and a few business types watching what we do. Details will be emailed to the winners (and I am not sure if there is anyone even reading this on the East Coast!!) but here's what we are going to do. Email me why you should be there! Tell us the reason why it should be you that comes to see us. The best five entries will be able to bring themselves and a friend to see Doheny's first performance in New York. Email me at -

dohenymusic@hotmail.com

and I will reply on Monday when I am back from Vegas with the address and the time. We will put you plus one on the security list ...... and that will be that. Come down, hang out with us, and watch us play.

OK - so thats that. Looking forward to seeing if we have anyone reading this over on the East Coast!!
I'm off to pack a bag ...... oh ...... that's right, I dont have to. I never unpacked the UK bag!! Oh well, then I am off to frantically learn a couple of the tunes that we are playing tomorrow. Have a great weekend, and I'll be back soon.

Peace

BACK IN TOWN - FOR A DAY.

MoombaAs the customs officer at LAX said to me yesterday ...... "Hmm - two days in London? You must have spent more time in the air than on the ground?" Yeah, no shit, Sherlock!!! So I got back late last night, and here I am at 5.30am, wide awake!! Its really weird that you take off from London, spend ten and a half hours in the air, and then land in LA three hours after you took off. Arrgghh - cant get my head around it! But anyway, I'm back safely (thanks all for the sweet 'Welcome Home' posts. It was an unavoidable trip - just needed to take care of a couple of things. But I am glad to be back.

First of all, a HUGE thank you to those who came to The Gig last weekend. (respect to Junebug, Jezzie, Mortisha8, Abby, Rain - from here on in to be officially known as ... The Girls!) It was a fun show - a little rough around the edges (as we havent played a show in months) but it was great to air the new songs we have been rehearsing, and great to get out and play. And Rain? WHY didnt you come and get a pic? I will never feel harrassed or put-upon. I have said many times that I believe a band is strong as its fans, and that's why I spend the time doing this Blog. Without building and maintaining a family feeling amongst the people that like your music, you have nothing. People like you, that bother to leave the house and come and watch us play, are the reason I do this. Period. So PLEASE dont feel weird about saying hello. Next time, its picks and pics all round.

A big welcome to Kefer - nice to have you here, hope you stick around and become a regular. We are a sweet bunch really!! And thanks for the kind words on the radio show - I really do love working with Dave and feel we do have a great chemistry together. You and Cori should write to MTV and request that TV show!!

Jezzi - I heard the 'I love you' loud and clear! Hopefully you heard my response! And Junebug - Clayden is definately a riot - a ONE MAN riot!!

Lisa - Nice to know the guitar is as good as it looks. And the plane flights? Well, I travel with a laptop, an I-Pod, an I-Pod Shuffle and a PSP. I dont even realize we are in the air!! The PSP is amazing for travelling - I finished ATV Off Road Fury and watched XXX and Once Upon A Time In Mexico on that thing!!

Donna and Abby - Nice pics girls. You are gonna be giving David Bailey a run for his money!! (Note to the confused: David Bailey was a very successful Royal family photographer)

Bobbi-O - Great questions. Firstly, I would like to say that Trent is amazing. He is a genius that consistently puts out records that actually mean something and make statements. And With Teeth is no exception. An awesome piece of work. Cant wait to see them in Vegas on Saturday.
Saving humanity by shagging a Desperate Housewife would depend on a couple of things - if it was a one time thing, then Mrs Solise would be the ultimate hot night. If it was a week or two of consistant 'getting to know her' type sex, then Terri Hatcher would probably be my choice. And if a whole relationship was the key to saving the world? ........ well everyone could fuck off!!!
And the Same Setlist thing - well, I do understand it. Both Camp Freddy and Doheny try to play different sets at each show - but neither band is on tour. Once you hit the road, its tough to change it up each night as the lighting guy and the sound guy have their cues and the show is one whole entity. You can throw one new one in every now and again, but it pretty much needs to be a similar set cos all the other people involved need to learn whats going on.

Karen - I see the Doheny Media site is coming on - good work. I promise I will send you a bunch of material once the Vegas and New York trips are over.

And speaking of New York - we are actually going to invite a few people down to that showcase. I'm not sure how we are doing it yet (keep your eyes here) but I know that we plan to have some of you (that are in the New York area) down to hang out for the afternoon. Its going to be next Thursday 5th May so post here if you think you can make it. I wanna get an idea of how many people would come down if we do this. More details to follow.

OK - so I will definately post again tomorrow before we fly to Vegas - I'll let you know about the New York audience thing (I have to see what Gibson say about having people come down - we are doing it in their building). Its great to be back and read all your posts - thanks for sticking around. I now need coffee - LOTS of coffee!! Thought you would enjoy this pic of Dave, Slash and myself from the second ever Camp Freddy show at Moomba in West Hollywood. See you guys tomorrow.

Peace

FEEL LIKE CA CA!

Davedoheny2_1Aaaargh. Too early. Cant think, cant type, 3 hours sleep. Leaving for London ...... wanted to thank everyone that came last night. It was a hectic show for us - havent played in four months and it felt like it!! Hope it sounded ok out front. Played California (my guitar was out of tune), another new one, By My Own Design (which sounded pretty good) and opened with Does It Really Matter (couldnt hear anything except feedback the first two songs!!). Whatever, it was good to play again. Wanna get out on the road so badly!!

Gotta stop typing and get ready to leave - I am so tired, it hurts! But I'm back Wednesday night, so make yourselves at home here, gimme some questions to answer when I get back, and I'll post again on Thursday (probably at 4.00am cos I'll be ruined with the Jetlag!!!)

Peace

END OF THE WEEK - AGAIN.

Psp_red_carpetIt cant be friday already can it? This week has just flown by. Doheny rehearsals, the VH-1 thing, Camp Freddy album stuff, a couple of evening things and here we are at the end of the week again!! And we play The Gig tomorrow. Hooray!! At last Doheny get out there again. Its been too long.

Yesterday was a fantastic day for me. Being a huge Pistols fan, its been exciting to record God Save The Queen for the Camp Freddy album. But yesterday I moved into real 'lead guitar' territory!! I would say that I am a pretty good rhythm guitar player, but I'm not fantastic at playing lead. Certainly no Navarro, Duffy or Slash!!! So I tend to stay away from doing all the flash bits, and keep with what I'm good at - laying down solid, tight rhythm guitar with a great tone. But yesterday, I actually got to do ALL the lead guitar on God Save The Queen. And it sounds really amazing!! I told Mike that I wanted to have a go at doing it, but it needed to be good, if it was going to be on that record. And he worked me hard - but we did it. So I now have my first proper lead guitar credit!!! On the song that changed my life!!

The VH-1 thing was a fun afternoon as well. They just film you for two or three hours talking about the 70's, 80's etc and take the best two or three minutes of it. I had no idea about some of the questions, because not only am I English (and therefore wasnt in America at the time) I was also completely wasted for all of the Eighties!! Very hard to pay attention to the invention of the Post-It note when you're lying face down in some club in London, wondering how you got there!! But I did my best and hopefully some of the good answers will make the final edit.

I am off to London for a couple of days on Sunday, so I wont be updating the Blog till I get back on Thursday. I'll do a full report then, and fill you in on the details of that weekends upcoming Camp Freddy show. It seems there are no tickets for sale, but if you are in Vegas, just wander down to Body English and look like you are invited and you'll get in!!! Its always unorganized madness there, and just walking straight up to the door always seems to work. Dont tell em I sent you!!

Jay - That Evisu jacket is the two pocket, tight fit style thats hard to get - with a huge painted logo across the back. I got it in Tokyo, but you can always keep your eye on E-Bay.

Kim - I would think that the amount of metal we've put on that SG has drastically changed the sound. I didnt even think to plug it in when we were finished!! Hope it still sounds good!!

WendyBird - Yeah, just put a camera in your bag. We dont mind cameras, although I dont know what the venues policy is - but the club is tiny, so I doubt if they care.

Karen - Thanks for the props with the photo. Its just a digi pic that my wife took of me with the finished guitar. Dont think it would look any good blown up to poster size. But I will put the hi-res version on the CD I send you with all the stuff for your new DohenyMedia site.

Ylais - NICE guitar!! Very Devil-like. Looks like you need to learn all the ACDC songs with that thing around your neck!! Did you get a red one?

So I have had to brush up on my knowledge of movie scenes recently - both for the VH-1 thing earlier in the week, and for something else that I have to do on Saturday afternoon. So I was wondering what your favourite scene in a movie would be?.......would it be the Raging Bull - "You Fuck my wife? You fuck my wife?" Or what about Spies Like Us - "Doctor....Doctor.....Doctor....Doctor......Doctor" No matter how many times I watch the dressing room scene in Spinal Tap - "and who lives in here? No One!!!" - I piss myself laughing. What scene does it for you every time?

Thats it from me. I'll drop back in tomorrow morning before I have to leave for soundcheck - I hope that some of you make it down to the show tomorrow, and I hope you get some pics to share with the rest who cant make it. Put the positive vibes back out there in the Universe, and you will be rewarded richly. And here endeth the sermon!!! And what the fuck am I sucking on in todays pic? Mental note - stop eating sweets when you're walking a red carpet!!!

Peace

A QUICK ONE BEFORE BREAKFAST

Ozzy_on_camp_freddyWhats up everyone. Wanted to post this pick of Ozzy at the show. We had a great response from that show and I am sure he will come down again at some point. We all had so much fun doing it. Yesterday was a good day - spent the afternoon shooting the VH-1 stuff. They shoot hours of footage and use about two minutes of it in the end! But I had fun with it and hopefully I will make the cut.

Today is Doheny rehearsal day - we are making sure that we can play a bunch of different songs on Saturday. Cant wait to play - and both Ricky Warwick and Owl are well worth seeing - so get there early.

Colin and I finally finished the 'Industrial' SG for the Breast Cancer Auction. Check it out. After weeks of trying to get it all flat and smooth, we finished it at the weekend. Of course, I wanted to do more, and keep going, but there was a deadline to finish it. Probably a good thing cos I would have started trying to mount taps, wash basins, bicycle frames and some garden hose to it!! You really get carried away when you are given free reign to fuck a guitar up!! Anyway - its done. I hope they like it and I hope that someone wants to pay some money for it.

Smfinalsg1

Thanks for all the commiserations with the car thing. Its fixed now, and I will definately be staying away from the railroad in future!!

Kim - I think your idea is genius!! We can play a snippet of the Led Zep track right before we go into our loveline section called ....."Whole Lotta Love with Billy and Dave!!"

Six7Six7 - Thank you for your kind words about Evergreen. Its one of my favourite Doheny tracks. We are trying not to put too many tracks up online, so that we have some fresh material to put on the record when we actually get around to making one. But it wont be the last time we play that track on CFR. So keep listening.

Alchemy - Nice pics from the VR show. And sorry I didnt see you. I was busy chatting away with my friend. But yes - they did, in fact, Rock!!!

Abby - I checked the Henry Fonda site and I think they are a little confused. I have emailed the organizers so I will let you know what they say. But it is, for sure, a Doheny show, and Dave, Matt and Dono will not be performing. Thank you for drawing my attention to the mis-information.

Done. Finished. Outta here. Enjoy your day, be nice to at least one person that you dont know, and stay at peace with the planet. Love you all.

PRINCE OF DARKNESS IN THE HOUSE.

Bpic11Wow!! Last nights radio show was pretty cool - a certain Mr Ozzy Osbourne came down and hung out with Dave and I for most of the show. He was on rare form, taking phone calls and cracking both of us up!! He brought a few unreleased tracks from his covers album, released later this year and we talked about music, Sabbath, Dogs ..... we even called one of the 'Girls From The Weekly' and he had a chat with her as well. Thanks Ozzy for coming down - it was a blast.

I left a little early and drove down to Anaheim to see the VR boys do their thing at the Pond. Big Arena Rock show - lots of energy - LOTS of volume - a fun night out...... until I hit a railroad line at about 60mph on the way home and got a flat AND a buckled rim on my car. Two hours and one AAA visit later and I was limping home on the very unattractive spare wheel and hoping that the buckled rim didnt give way on the 5 freeway as I rumbled along the slow lane, doing about 10mph!!! Guess where Morrison will be this morning? Thats right - back in the shop, getting the wheels and tyres fixed. Its fun owning a BMW - until something needs to be fixed. Then you realize that you better call the bank manager!! Oh well - at least I am ok ..... I suppose.

So it looks like we'll be taking the SUV to the Dodgers game. Its an afternoon game so sunday lunch today will be a ridiculously large bag of popcorn and about 7 Dodger Dogs. For those of you who havent tried a Dodger Dog, its the BEST tasting hot dog in the entire Universe. Bar None. Probably gives you skin cancer or something, but tastes mighty fine!!

Good question Jay - I think that each type of venue holds its own appeal. I have seen most bands in all different types of building, and I enjoy it all. The Arena can be quite sterile, but that is the challenge for the band. I have seen The Stones play in the 100 Club in the UK (about 200 people) and I have seen them at Wembley Stadium (about 90,000 people) and to me, both shows were intimate. More pyro at the Stadium of course. I think that if a band can play a bigger arena, they should. Its fun for everyone to put on the lightshow, the theatrics - and you can always go back and do a few 'secret, intimate' type shows in between records. My vote is - take each show for what it is and enjoy the rock!!

Tomorrow is a busy day - shooting some VH-1 stuff (I Love The .... series, to be aired later in the year) and more work on the upcoming shows. So I'm gonna get this car thing sorted out and enjoy the rest of the day. I think we'll make the captions thing a regular 'bi-weekly' competition. Have to get some more Doheny shirts done and give em away as prizes. Someone remind me I said that in a month from now!! Have a great day everyone, and see you during the week.

Peace

MORE OF THE SAME

VegasSaturday morning again - and that means that its CFR tonight. Listen in if you can - it'll be Dave and I as usual, and we might have a guest popping in - not sure yet. But the usual irreverent talk, stylin' tunes and witty banter will apply!! Doheny rocked rehearsal yesterday - a lot of fun, and I will be giving out some tickets for next Saturdays show at The Gig on the radio show tonight. After the radio show, I'm gonna drive down to The Pond to see the VR boys tear it up Arena Style which should be fun, and tomorrow, I have been given a few choice seats at the Dodgers game. Not a huge baseball fan, but I have been before, and its always an excuse to eat a ton of Hot Dogs and throw up in the parking lot afterwards!!

I've been carrying my PSP around with me and I have to say that thing is pure genius. I am playing the ATV game right now, but I will be making a trip to the games store today to get the Spiderman 2 game for it - that looks right up my street. And you can store TV shows, MP3's, videos - all on the one unit. You can even go online with the thing. With my PSP and a laptop, I'll never have to think about how I actually feel again!!!

The Caption idea is a winner. All your captions are brilliant. Made me laugh out loud while I was reading all your posts! And while I think of it - Sue, the answer is in your question. Listen really carefully, and you will hear the word, 'conversation' whispered. So there you have it! Its a quick post today as I have a fair bit to do and need to get on with it. See what you all make of todays pic - another caption opportunity. I'll post tomorrow and give you a report of tonights Big Rock Show so until then, take it easy, relax and have a great weekend.

Peace

URANUS IS ACTING UP!!!

Dh19bseantonyYesterday was a crazy day! The planets must have been right up Uranus or something!! It started with a gash in my front tyre, which meant two hours in the shop getting a new one, and having them align the steering etc. And it ended with rehearsals being cancelled due to Sean being stranded on the side of the street with his car broken down!!! In between these two events, lots of strange things, both good and bad, kept sliding into the day for me to deal with - for every bad thing that happened, a good thing would follow. So weird. Its pointless to go into details, but do you ever have those kind of days? I would get a phone call, saying that we have to change the time of something we are doing on Friday (which means contacting 8 other people and having them change their schedules to match) and then I would get a call asking me to do a cool TV thing. Then I'd get an email cancelling a studio session I have been looking forward to, followed by a voicemail informing me of another CF show being offered. Just crazy opposites all day long.

Oh well - its a new day and I intend to embrace it, whatever comes along. I have no animosity to anyone today and thats a good feeling. Even the Haters out there (of which I am sure there are many!!) - I wish everyone nothing but a good day. Life can throw curve balls at us all day long, but its just life. It happens and I really dont believe we are in control of it. I think we have a choice of how we react to things, and thats the part I concentrate on.

Jay - Its all a bunch of Heroin-induced playtime up to Stimulator, really. Fire On Ice, In2AO, Quick Gas Gang, another band I cant remember the name of, Stimulator, King Mob (One gig!!), The Cult, Camp Freddy, Doheny. I'll get around to doing a proper one at some point.

Kim - Do you mean the SG I am customizing for Breast Cancer? Its nearly finished - should be done by this weekend. And yes, I'll take final pics of it and post them up here.

Leon - Good question. Actually, Duffy influenced my tone more than my playing. His live tone in The Cult made me realize how important a quality sound is, and I spent a year getting the right sounding gear together to give me the tone that I was looking for - his playing is awesome, and of course, I learnt a few tasty Cult solo's along the way!! My idols have always been Jonesy (for his simplicity), Cantrell (for his songwriting) and Steve Stevens (for his absolutely amazing ability).

Bobbi-O - Yeah, trying to give up the caffeine is a tough one. I dont even bother - just dont wanna turn into a two headed monster!!

Brett - Yes, pics will be taken of the finished SG. And I already caught the thing on fire when I was branding the back of it. Left the brand on there too long and the whole thing caught fire!!!

So lets see what today brings. I'm looking forward to the weekend - CFR with Dave, followed by some Velvet Revolver at The Pond. But before that, we have a full day of Doheny rehearsal tomorrow, with some biz type people coming down to talk about a few things. So today should be relatively easy - but then again, thats what I thought about yesterday. Whatever happens, I hope that everyone has a great day, and I'll be back soon, with more inane ramblings. Check out todays pic of Sean and Tony - what could they be doing? What are they saying to each other? Best entires on a postcard to the usual address!!!

Peace

A NEW WEEK STARTS RIGHT HERE

Detail_1Monday morning. The sun is shining, the squirrels are running along outside my window. The coffee is freshly brewed ....... and Soundgarden's Superunknown is BLASTING from my studio speakers!!! If Billy's awake, everyones awake!! Here we go again - another week of rehearsals for Doheny. Plus today, I will be getting together with Colin to finish the customization of the Gibson SG for charity. We dont have a lot to do now, but we need to finish all the edges of the metal, sand it all down and make it smooth, and generally tidy it all up. I hope they like it. Todays pic shows in detail the stuff we are doing to the poor guitar!!

Although I did the new banner this morning, I have to give props to Skott for the idea - thanks mate. Hope you like my version of it.

Yesterday was a nice relaxing Sunday - played a lot of Brothers In Arms on the PS2. What an awesome game - WW2 game with a squad of guys running around Europe in a simulation of the D-Day landings. I am definately becoming a geek with this stuff!! Watched that movie, The Core on TV (kinda shit film, but good for staring at and switching off!) and then watched a bunch of Tivo'd Seinfelds later on, after hanging out at the Tattoo Shop for a while. An easy day.

Karen - Deer Karen!! Gotta watch out for those things. I know a few people who have had bad accidents with Deer in the UK. Glad it all worked out ok.

Cori - Glad you like 'Watching It All Burn' - and the CF show is not a private party. I will find out how to get tickets and post the details tomorrow.

Ylais - The SID dolls are the real deal. Very collectable - and made by a friend of mine called Dave from South London. He is another Seditionaries collector and he did the dolls as a limited edition a few years back. Very cool piece, if you ask me. Which you did!

Jezzi - NOW it all makes sense!! The whole Pet thing has been fully explained, thanks to you. Thats funny!! Genius.

The Soundgarden album is finished, and the coffee is dry, so that means its time for Starbucks, and a Venti drip (I have been off the Gingerbread for months now). Keep the artwork and the ideas flowing, and ask any questions you want. I will be back midweek for an update, so until then - have a great week. And thank you all.

Peace

BITS AND PIECES

DhaprreminderThe radio show last night was so much fun. Dave was on rare form and we clicked immediately. Took a lot of calls, played some great music and had Brent visit us towards the end. He was joining me on this TV thing we were doing last night - a reality show about a car service in LA that they asked me to take part in. That small room got a little crowded with the three of us, plus TK, and the cameras!! But it was fun to do, and Dave cut out five minutes before the end to let us do our thing. Thanks mate. And big apologies to the Camp Teddy boys - they got through to me on the phone about three minutes before the end of the show!! So we didnt have time to hear them!! But call us next week guys - and call us before 7.57pm!! Oh, and the answer to your question about my Marshall cabs? They are a matched pair of flat fronted vintage grill 4 x 12's with 25watt Greenback celestions in them.

Tina has sent me a couple of cool 'reminder' card artwork things. I think the idea is really cool - a kind of small Doheny flyer thing that street teams can hand out, people can download from the sites and put on their fridge, or their board at college etc. I used the Gig one for todays pic to show you. Clever girl, that Tina!! And Skott has also done a new banner - check out the web banners page - nice choice of tatts, Skott. Any objections if I shove that in Photoshop and tweak about with your idea? Its great when we get art that you guys have done - I love to see your interpretation of the image and the visual message of Doheny. Keep em coming.

Bobbi-O - Nice story about your ex. And I get what you are saying about different hair, different woman. But the answer for me is No. She seems like the same woman I've always loved, but with different colored hair!!!

Cori - A big welcome to you. Thanks for the kind words and hope you enjoy Doheny. Feel free to jump into the madness here anytime you want.

Kim - Thank you for offering to send me the acoustic MP3 but I actually already have it. But I DO have the CD you sent me, and I intend to listen to it in the car this week. Thanks mate.

Ylais - YES!!! What is it with cats??!! Good observation. I am much more of a dog guy. They seem to offer the unconditional love that we want out of pets a lot more freely. And by the way - the accent thing that James was doing is a 'thing' that all the drivers do. His real name was Don. Nice guy.

Matt - Jeff Beck is an absolutely incredible player. What he can do with a guitar just makes my mind explode. My favourite album would probably have to be Guitar Shop ..... or maybe Blow By Blow (a classic).

OK - Sunday. Time to hook up with a few friends, maybe watch Exorcist, The Beginning on DVD - give the new TV a proper spin, and also try out the new PS2 game Brothers In Arms. Looks to be a good one. Next week is all Doheny rehearsals, apart from one day of Camp Freddy album, so I intend to chill today before all that starts. Also have to get my arrangements sorted for a quick trip to London so I'll get that locked in today as well. Thanks to everyone for hanging out here and keeping the faith. Looking forward to playing again - I am .......... gone.

Peace

Billy

PS - What happens in the Torture Garden, stays in the Torture Garden ......... until I write my book!!!

BEDTIME STORIES

SeantonyYesterday was a good day for me. The morning was spent just running around doing errands, and spending some time with my beautiful wife. Then the afternoon was some more Camp Freddy stuff. Another guest vocalist laid down some stuff on one of the tracks and it sounded fantastic. Mike Clink and I were excited - we havent been able to get anything done for a week or two, so it was nice to lock another guest in, and even nicer to have it go so smoothly and so well. We talked about what we need to get the first four or five songs completely done, and suprisingly we dont appear to need to much more. Hopefully we can get the last few bits and pieces recorded on those few songs, and then we will go and mix them, get a track or two on the radio, and start letting people hear some stuff. Once we get to that stage, the rest of the record should fall into place pretty easily.

Matt - Palm Springs does not have to cost an arm and a leg. Its so beautiful out there that you can do it on a dime and still be rested and relaxed. Joshua Tree is so amazing, and costs nothing to drive around. Google a few things and come up with a few days holiday. You wont be disappointed.

Jay - I am just not going to go into any details. Lets just say that for the next four or five weeks, anyone wanting to hear a Doheny record should be putting us in their prayers!! And the CF site just got an update, so check it out. Basically, the Hard Rock 10th Birthday Party is a three day event, and I believe there are tickets available.

Sue - I LOVE the blue background! Cant we get a bigger version and send it to Karen, who is working on a Doheny Multimedia site? Maybe Karen could host a few gifs and movies that you guys come up with ...... whaddya think Karen?

Jezzi - Who is this Sophie? She is performing at the benefit with us. Tell me more. And while I am on the subject, expect one or two 'added extras' that night. A couple of friends might be learning a Doheny song especially for the occasion.

Sherry - I think the Gig is over 21 unfortunately, but call em up and ask. I know I have seen people younger when we played there before, but they might have been doing the 'Fake ID' thing. Now theres an idea......!!!

Junebug - Thats sweet of you to see about donations. These people are really working hard to improve kids lives, and they need all the help they can get. Thank you.

Tina - We all missed you. Welcome back. And remember - DONT let the bastards grind you down. Life is what you make it, and if you stop to smell the flowers every day, your spirit will grow and your life will become larger than you ever dreamed. Glad you are back.

Kim and Ylais - Thanks for checking in and being a part of the Doheny Family here. ALWAYS nice to hear from you two.

And Leon, ...... oh Leon!! Drunken stories you want, huh? Tales of Rock and Roll excess in St Johns Wood? Well, I used to live up there for a while, and the place we lived at was a top floor apartment in a five floor building. About six of us lived there, girls and boys, and a bunch of our friends were always hanging out as well. A full party house always. One night, one of the girls starts screaming that her cat had got out of the window and onto the roof and was stuck. Now I had been relaxing in front of the TV, just taking it easy. You know, consuming ridiculous amounts of booze, pills and dubious powdered substances, and I was pretty much out for the count! But the screaming woke me up. So being the 'Get out of the way and let me fix it' kinda guy, I stumbled over to the window, pushed everyone out of the way, and climbed out onto the roof of the building. Five floors up. Completely wasted. Not a good idea. I made my way along the edge to where the stupid cat was hissing and spitting, and grabbed it. Now you would think that it would have been happy to have seen me. Happy to be saved. But no. This cat went ballistic!! Scratching me all over, twisting, turning. And I am standing on the edge of a roof, a LONG way up, out of my mind on all kinds of stuff!! I hold the cat out at arms length and stumble back over to the window, and get it back in safely. But when I think of what could have happened, it scares the shit out of me. I could hardly walk in a straight line on the sidewalk, let alone on the roof of a building, with a very scared animal in one hand!! The moral of the story? There isnt one!! It just never ceases to amaze me the kind of mad shit we do when we are loaded!! And the first thing I did when I got back inside the window? Get loaded again!!!

OK - enough story telling. On with the day. Logistics for the Camp Freddy show, and running through the Doheny songs to make sure I know my parts 150%. Thank you all for taking time out to be here - lets start a new round of building the Family. Spread the word people. Welcome the newcomers!!! Tomorrow is another fun filled, thrill packed CFR with Dave. Dont miss it!! And check out Sean and Tony in the pic, getting all 'Rock Star!!' Love it. I am outta here.

Peace

MIDWEEK MADNESS

DohenySo its midweek again, and I have been back from Palm Springs less than 24 hours, and its all go again!! We had a great rehearsal last night - played every song we know to our managers who are involved with us in working out the best set to play in New York. We played 18 tracks ( a whole arena set - an hour and three quarters!!) We were all fucked by the end of it!! But the band sounded great and we are all feeling good about the up-coming shows. Lets hope that it translates into a record. We are so ready to get it done!!

Palm Springs was nice and relaxing - I really should get down there more often. Jen and I love it down there, but we both get caught up in our busy lives and forget that its just two hours drive away. But we relaxed and went to the spa and ate good meals. Rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit in three days. I like it!!

Jezzi - The Charity event is NOT the same as the Cantrell/Navarro one. Ours is a benefit for the Friends Of El Faro Charity. Here is a portion of the press release to give you all some details .....

Since November of 2000, Friends of El Faro have been traveling to Tijuana every five to six weeks to spend the weekend with the more then 100 children of “Casa Hogar Sion” orphanage. It is here, where children, who have been abandoned or abused or neglected, have found a home, a place where they are safe and cared for, nourished and loved. It is here, where we do what they can to take care of the children, and Mama Carmen and Papa Jorge and the staff, remarkable people who have created a home for children who did not have one. Everything from cooking meals to building playgrounds, changing diapers, playing, showing outdoor movies, breaking up fights, and most importantly, letting the children know, and showing them that they are loved and cherished and important.

The charity is trying to keep this orphanage alive, and Doheny are proud to help. The show is at The Henry Fonda Theatre on May 13th. More details to follow.

Toby - It was our pleasure to have you down at the show and to give you your prize. And to answer your question, I think I currently own 14 Les Pauls.

Mayhem and FHeart - Look closely at the Freddy pics. I always apply a little 'Mac' when I hit the stage with those guys. I have to - they are all so damn hot!! Especially that Navarro character!!

Got some work to do on the Freddy album this week, and also some more Doheny rehearsal. Plus a bunch of work to do on the CF show in Vegas at the end of this month. So its no rest for the wicked. Have a great day everyone, and thanks for checking in. Hope to see a few of you at the show on Sat 23rd April at The Gig on Melrose. Till next time - adios, amigos. PS - LOVE this pic taken by Michael Muller at the Doheny Key Club show a few months back. Later peeps.

Peace

DESERT SKIES

Morrisonheadshot_3So I am off to Palm Springs for a couple of days after the radio show. Wanna get out and see those amazing Desert night time skies - just sit late at night and stare at the fantastic black sky with millions of stars flashing - so inspirational. I love it out there. And of course, a massage and facial at the spa isnt bad either!!! I'll meet up with Dave as always for the show and then get the hell outta Dodge for a few. Good luck to anyone trying to win the Epiphone Les Paul - the last question will be tonight, so get your speed dial ready!!

I had to post the headshot I did with Michael Muller last week. I really love it - he takes amazing pics, and I needed to have an official headshot (no, I am NOT trying to be the new De Niro!! Just got asked a couple of times if I had any decent shots, so I figured I would get one done). Michael is a genius with cameras - check his site out. I linked it on the links section further down this page.

So Doheny have been asked to play at The Henry Fonda Theater in LA for a charity show on May 13th. We are just tying up some loose ends and then we can put all the details of the show and the charity up on the sites. Nice to be asked - and nice to play the Henry Fonda. Its a great venue to play. Oh, and while I remember, Six7Six7 - Very perceptive.....but wrong! I did the Napster thing cos they paid me!! And I think that they are trying to embrace the digital age, and not fight against it like most of the business. But no, there is no Doheny on Napster.

Thats all I got for ya! Its a nice sunny Saturday here in LA, so I'm gonna take the wife out for a morning Starbucks, check out the new Splinter Cell PS2 game, and generally enjoy life. Have a wonderful weekend and I will probably do the 'mini update from the cellphone' thing from Palm Springs.

Peace
