SUNDAY SIESTA

FlametopYesterdays CFR was great fun. With Dave off the nicotine for a few days, he had energy to burn, and we both bounced off the walls for a couple of hours!! We started the Gibson Giveaway with the first question, so if you have the answer, write it down and listen to next weeks show for the second question. And we played a bunch of great songs – I managed to squeeze in a little Pitchshifter, for our very own Mr Clayden. A song called Whats In It For Me, which I actually performed with the band on a few occasions. I love the song and wanted to give people who haven’t heard of ‘Shifter, a taste of what they sounded like.

Today is a fully fledged ‘Day Off’! Nothing to do at all. Which feels great. A little Shadow Of Rome on the PS2 – might go and buy a new cellphone – you know, a general ‘fuck it, lets go spend some money’ kind of day. And as next week is full of fashion shows, Doheny rehearsals, and a Camp Freddy show (private fashion show appearance, I’m afraid), I think I’ll make the most of the quiet time today.

Lets have a little fun here – I wanna see how everyone thinks a whole day off should be spent. What do you lot do when you don’t have to go to work, there are no errands to run, and no one is demanding any of your time? Is it a good book on the couch? Is it shopping? See who can come up with the most interesting way to spend a whole free day.
I think going to see Constantine should definitely be a part of it – so maybe I’ll do that today. Although Dave attributes that movie to helping him quit smoking……. I’m not ready yet!! Help!!

Ylais – A showcase is kinda like a small, 6 song gig, with an audience of about four people!! You set up, and play a few songs as if you are performing live, but there are only your management, and a few business types watching you. Very difficult to find a vibe!!!
And more Doheny merch will be around in a few months.

Bonita – I don’t know when or how the Gibson SG bidding starts, but I will find out from Gibson and let you know.

Kim – Sorry about the lack of Skindred. I tried to find the song but had no luck. But MASSIVE respect to you for staying off the cancer sticks. Its hard, I know.

I’m outta here – just wanted to check in and say hi. Todays pic is another from the Native Instruments shoot. Have a nice, relaxing Sunday.

Peace

Billy

I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I'd check in.
That's a really nice pic of you B-mo, I love it! A handsome man holding a handsome guitar.
That's my new name for you now: B-mo.

you know I enjoy CFR and yesterday's show was no exception. It won't be the same without you next weekend!

Ah, don't you love days off? For me it usually consists of doing chores.. cleaning, laundry, groceries, bills, etc. But when there are no chores to be done (seems like there always are) depending on the weather I also play computer games, rollerblade, swim, hike up in one of the canyons, and go out to Lake Shrine. If I had money to spend I'd definitely shop, too!
If there was snow in L.A. snowball fights would be on the list for sure. Always did that when I was younger and living in Chicago and I gotta say I miss it.

hey billy, love the pic today, she's an awesome photographer.

For me a day off means not talking to or seeing people. I'm really a loner and having to deal with people all day at work is difficult at times. I know when I get home from work I don't answer my phone or the door for the most part. If someone wants me they can leave a message and I'll get back to them.

My favourite thing to do on a day off is to read. I can remember a few years ago taking a week off and I never left my apartment, I spent the week reading a 5-novel series by Brian Lumley. LOL sorry I've always felt more alone around people than by myself. The people I work with tell me I'm weird and think there's something wrong with me and don't mind telling me so frequently. ;b

I'm off next week and though I'd love to spend it reading, I've got to look for a new place to live, so my hunt begins.

hugs,
tina

Day off ... well, everyday is a day off for me at the mo, which is pretty neat. So in my days off next week I'll be doing the following:

Wednesday: Train to London to see gig at Camden Underworld, then train back to Brighton to stay with my brother.

Thursday: Being half Irish, St Patricks Day in Brighton, copious amounts of alcohol will be consumed with my brother ... hopefully he'll be in a stable state for his last University exam of the term on Friday.

Friday: Back to home town for my friend's Album launch party + show, which will be filmed for DVD.

Saturday: Back up to London for a drinking meet with fans of the Hiding Place messageboard.

Sunday: Recovering from acumalitive hang overs while playing GTA San Andreas, and probably watching a film like Shaun of the Dead, or maybe a couple of episodes of Spaced.

My actual days off usually consist of household chores and laundry. I'm too lazy during the week to do anything, so unfortunately it all gets left for Saturday or Sunday.

My ideal day off would be spending the morning on my back deck in the sunshine with a cup of coffee and a book. I'd take the dogs for a walk/swim at the lake in the afternoon. Someone else would make me dinner (ha ha), and I would get a good movie or two and veg out on the couch for the evening. That just might relax me...

All my days are technically days off now pretty much. (not counting things like chores, bill paying, etc) So can I count them as days off for real? I don't go to a regular job that's all, or have a career thing going, anymore. And I live in a holiday place, by a castle, and beaches, and woods, and ancient ruins, and animals (wild and domesticated). So I have that
there all the time. I love going out for a slow drive in the middle of the night on the backroads, lanes. Saw a badger out there in the wild a couple of days ago, nightcruising. :) I love that..spotting wild animals. So I'd choose to sit out at night by a badger sett waiting for the badgers to appear. (Night time off) Had a day off today, and bought a 1971 Sindy Doll. Same one I had when I was a child; but lost mine in a bad flood in NJ.
I'd see my son too if I could. Take him out badger watching. :D

Love and hugs, Lisa xxxx

A great day off for me when I have a bit of cash is getting a new tat, or get something pierced. If I low on cash I go for a hike, hit the climbing gym, or just head out to the hookah bar sit in the sun by the ocean smoke drink my coffee and read a good book. Wish I could go shopping. I've lost a lot of weight (went from a 14 down to a 7) and all my clothes are HUGE on me now.

For me ... my day off with nothing to do would be a normal work day for billy. I did nothing saturday, but sit around play guitar, mess with amp settings, and dream that i had a band. Well billy you don't have to do that last part.

I do enjoy to sit around an whoop everyone I know at Tiger Woods 2005 on the xbox. I'll challenge anyone at that game... and i haven't lost yet.

Well i am back to my bs day job... fun!

Hey Billy,
That PWEI song is titled "Theres is no love between us anymore" It starts out with Nat King Cole singing "When I fall in love" then goes into this guitar riff. I

I found the CD on ebay.

Thanks for the reply back,

Matt

Dang.

This contest is so-californian only?

I'm jonesin' for a Les Paul so badly, and I knew the first question off the top of my head.

Would I be able to fly in if I won?

haha.

Billy,

Since the next CF gig is private, how 'bout a sneak preview of guests for the faithful?

Thanks,
Jay

I thought I had a day off on Sunday, only the rabbit to clean out, but then I started mowing the lawn, beat the mother-in-law again this year. I don't know what it is about gardening I hate it, but as soon as you start doing it it becomes really rewarding to see the improvement. Sadly the darn thing starts growing again and your back to square one, just like hair and nails!
I also like painting the fence which in itself should be a trauma thanks to my grand-parents forcing me to do it as a child in the Summer holidays. This was creosote though and you had to wear woolen mittens and plastic bags to stop getting a rash when the stuff splashed on you.
Add to that a quick snooze in the nippers pop-up tent and that could be a perfect day [just minus the rabbit poop.

Do you garden Billy amongst the caffeine and guitars? Show us a picture of your yard, if its not too personal.

Incidentally with a private Camp Freddy gig, that must be expensive for a band of your stature. I mean there are bound to be bigger bands but you have so many 'names', does that make you guys more expensive? I don't mean to be crude and talk about cash and you don't have to answer. There's really no way to compare you to another band anyway, but I just thought about it and wondered. I'm not even quite sure what it is I mean but how about someone shells out a load of cash for you guys, do they get to have a say in who plays [that's part of it]. And if they didn't get the 'names they expected could they be saying we could have got so-and-so cheaper?

I know that sounds totally tactless but as I say it's difficult to explain. Basically amongst the bands of a similar level [of which there are none really] do you cost more, less or about the same?

Billy,

Besides the obvious Les Pauls... what other guitars are you using to record the album. I know sean uses ESP's... Just curious to what you guys use together for tracking.

Thanks man,
Pony

A day off...what's that? ;-) I get a day off about once every two or three months. My days off consist of being on the computer and catching up on all my sleep. I only get about 5hrs. of sleep a night. And, not answering the phone, or the door. But, that's the one day every two or three months that I actually listen to my voicemail messages. I know that sounds terrible to only check voicemail about once every two months. :-)

I would like for my days off to consist of going to concerts. I could definitely handle seeing a concert about every two or three months!

I've posted the chat transcripts.

Have a great day everyone!

Billy~thanks for explaining about a showcase. I see TPC have just done one. What I really want to know is what is the actual point, or goal(s) of doing a showcase? Is it a bit like a dress rehearsal for a play? Or is it showing it to record companies and executives to see if they're interested? To get their input?
If I went to Doheny's or TPC's showcase, I'd make a fool out of myself yelling out Billy!!! and such, (Dave!!! at a TPC one)

love to all
