SHE CRIED....MORE, MORE, MORE!!!
So Mr Billy Idol ROCKED the hizzy last night at The Roxy. Pretty much a scene on the Strip last night, there was a line of people outside the club that stretched all the way down Sunset. Indie 103.1 were broadcasting the event so TK and Steele were wandering around outside. I met a few people that I knew and made my way inside and up to my table. Down went the lights, and they hit the stage. Crystal clear sound, great lights, and the intimacy of a small venue made it all seem like a very special event. He played all the hits, and a bunch of songs from the new record (which all sounded great - perfectly at home next to the classic Idol tracks) and Steve Stevens ....... well, what can I say about my boy Steve? He is THE most amazing guitarist to watch - NO mistakes, an incredible tone, and mind-bending solos that seem impossible to play, and yet, are still VERY tasteful. No Vai or Satriani here - Steve is the master of playing JUST the right thing at JUST the right time. What a great show - I had a blast.
Today is our Camp Freddy Radio day - and Dave will be there with me. I'm excited to see him, cos it feels like ages since we did a show together. So I will get my playlist together and try to pull out some great music for you all.
Bobbi-O - Yeah I think you are right. My love of the Pistols extends beyond the music. Its because I saw first hand, how they upset SO many people. I mean the Royal Fucking Family were speaking out against them. Thats pretty impressive when you are 12 years old and watching the Prime Minister of the country getting all upset about a BAND!!!!
Eric - I did get a PSP but its not arrived yet!! I am on the edge of my seat waiting for it. I have friends who already have one, and those things are pure genius. I think I'll get mine next week, so expect days of silence from me while I stare at yet another screen!!!
Ylais - I was blown away when I read Steve's post on his site. Thank you for posting that link and alerting me to what he had written. I had no idea. But he is a wonderful guy, and I emailed him straight away to thank him.
Zannebee - I love that 'Peace, Pot, Microdot' thing!! Not my bag - I'll take the Sex Drugs and Rock and Roll - but I smiled when I read it. Microdots always left me foaming at the mouth, hidden under a couch somewhere, convinced the hamsters were coming to get me!!
Matt - Yes, I am extremely busy most of the time. But what you have to understand is that I believe in doing as much as possible for the people that come to shows, buy records and support a band. I GENUINELY love everyone who stays around here and posts. You all make me want to continue making music. Its not easy - Doheny would love to be signed and making a record right now. But this business is tough - we will get it done, but the long process of getting there is made SO much easier by having people like you guys supporting us. RESPEC' to the Doheny Family.
Flaming Heart and Electric Mayhem - A bit of the old 'liner never hurt anyone, right? I have been known to indulge!!!
OK people - I have drivelled on enough for today. Time to fire up my I-Tunes and put a playlist for tonights show together. I feel a little Crue, a little Idol, and a little Doheny coming on!!! Todays pic is from Jenni Kaynes fashion show - and the cute french bulldog is her dog, Mr Jack. Isn't he the BEST!!
Have a great weekend everyone, and I'll see ya soon.
Peace
Billy

Would it be possible to post a playlist after a CFR show? Not to give you an added task, but it would give me a shopping list for my music searches.

Aww Billy, you always get so enthusiastic about everything!
It's so cute, and so is Mr. Jack :)
I haven't heard the 'new Idol' yet, but I saw a Star TV interview with him and that man still looks as handsome as ever!

BILLY!!!!! (oops, there I go, shouting and stuff)
Please tell me more about Mel's Diner-Napster thingy, I have looked at Indie site, and your news site, and see nothing, is it just me? Is it March 30th, is it April 30th, how do I get there? Do I need tix, what, what, what?
Sorry to get so excited, but I actually know where Mel's Diner is, which is quite the accomplishment for my backwoods self. They make a great turkey sandwich, and it's a nice place to kick back and read the Times.
love,
jezzi(oh, and that radio promo....wicked sexy voice you had going on there, all serious and stuff...ahhhhhhh....)

Billy,
Without stepping on any toes, I was wondering your opinion on the whole DJ thing. I had a conversation/argument with a local spinner, he was talking about being a "musician" and I took exception to the characterization. This wasn't an DJ in a band mind you, just a human jukebox at a club spinning tunes.
Thoughts?
Thank you,
Jay

Billy, I think I know where you're coming from on guitar playing. Vai and Satriani are without doubt technically sound, but at the end of the day a lot of their stuff comes across as Fret Wanking to me.
My brother's doing guitar at college and he's really jaded that all they seem to do is heavy metal guitar noodling. He's very much a blues man, and in my opinion can convey more emotion and passion in 12 well placed notes then these guys that churn out 50 in 5 seconds. More proof that "less is more" in this instance.
Oh, about the PSP, rumour has it a new Grand Theft Auto game is on the cards for late April / May time. Keep your eyes peeled! :)

Well...I wish there were some contests for us East-coasters. Nice to be back here. Been a while. Been so busy with work and then I had to go to a funeral today. I must be almost as busy as our Billy here (almost...)
Hope everyone is well and had a happy holiday.
