CFR SATURDAY

Guitar_rig_sizedThe weekend is here again and tonight's CFR should be a lot of fun. Steve Issacs from The Panic Channel, and Doheny's Jon Clayden will be our guests, and I am sure that, as in recent weeks, acoustics will be present, and songs will be sung!! Looking forward to that.

Yesterday I did a very cool photoshoot for a company called Native Instruments (see todays pic). NI make a bunch of really cool virtual instruments and software for those of us that make music with computers. So we did a shoot at Doheny's rehearsal room yesterday, and the photographer turned all the lights off!! I thought she was joking, until she brought out a huge flashlight and wandered around, shining the light on different parts of me and the equipment. The results, as you can see, make for very stark lighting, and a very cool vibe. Check out NI's website - http://www.native-instruments.com - and get yourself some sweet programs. Tweak out for hours!!! Oh, and check out the brand new Raiders Dunks I'm wearing - got them yesterday (the rare Black/Silver combo that I have been searching out for a couple of years!!) The search for the Purple and White Dunks, as well as the Black and Yellow ones still continues.

Things are quiet around here right now (which I suppose I should be greatful for - there are many times when I am complaining that I have too much going on!!). But in true Billy Morrison style, when its quiet, I get bored. And boredom is damaging for me. Doheny are waiting for our lawyer to report in with news of progress on the deal front, and although I was booking a couple of shows yesterday, they aren't for a while. Camp Freddy might be playing in April, but again, its not confirmed and not for a while, so I cant get stuck into that either. There are a couple of unrelated projects also out there in the 'ether' of life, but it seems that everything is taking its time, so I suppose I need to just kick back and relax. Get into the battle for the swamplands in Killzone - maybe start racing the secondhand Mitsubishi 3000GT that I have in the garage in Grand Turismo 4 - and maybe, JUST maybe, finish the videos that I have had half finished in the studio computer for months!!!

Jay - Actually, I do see CF releasing a single to radio. We have no idea what, until all songs are finished, but yes, I believe we would put a song out to radio and see what happens. Maybe we'll even make a video as well!

WP - Aaahh, the old Aviator stricks back!! Yeah, I used to rock the Aviator style (HAS to be the OG Rayban) but these days, I prefer the slimmer design. Chanel and Dita do great glasses.

Jezzi - Great question! My favourite childhood book would be Stig Of The Dump. They dont have it here in America - its a UK thing. I always wanted to be Stig!!!

Sue - That is pure GENIUS. Tasting musical notes??!! What I wanna know is.....what notes constitute Strawberries And Cream? I'll write a 10 minute song that ONLY has those notes in them. Or maybe the chorus will be notes that taste like Mixed Vegetable Curry from Flavor Of India on Santa Monica Blvd!!

Lisa - Jesus!! I know hundreds of songs on acoustic. The problem is remembering what songs I know when I actually go to play one!!

The chat is on for tomorrow at 7pm LA time. I hope some of you can make it - its usually very hectic, very funny and very informative. I know that Jon, Sean and myself will be there. Tony and Colin are computerless, so dont expect the rhythm section!! I'm off - see you on Indie 103.1 tonight. I believe Jon and I are going to attempt to do an acoustic version of our new Doheny song, Part Of The Machine. Hmmm.......how does that one go again??????

Peace

Billy

Billy!! Thanks for answering my question, I am off to discover who the heck STIG is!!
I love, love, love the photo, very nice lighting. Now, is it the camera angle or what, but your feet look awfully large, not that it's a BAD thing, if it's not too personal a question, what size shoe DO you wear?

jezzi(no, I wasn't even thinking THAT!)

Hey you're a Stig fan too!! Actually thats what I call my daughter when she doesnt tidy her room.

I'm listening to CFR as I type, Part of the Machine is just blowing me away. Makes me wish those dates you were talking about were a little closer.

Posted by: Donna at March 5, 2005 07:22 PM

Yeah me too...wishing those dates were a little closer. What am I talking about? I got so pumped up listening to that CFR show, I don't even know what I'm talking about (sorry Donna) I mean I wish to see DH live soon!
The new song is brilliant. You and Jon just finished writing it, did you say yesterday?!! You guys amaze me. That's why I asked how many songs you know. Amazement that you go 'oh yeah that song', and play it.
Great show tonight in loads of ways, you and Dave and your banter, Steve, Jon..Jon has won me over. That was pretty easy! :D I heard he was funny, had a good sense of humour. He does! The Mike Patton story, and FNM.(I love FNM) The Deep Purple video. (I'm going to be hunting that down now). Mars Volta. (love that song) and ze finale "Submission" Thank you Billy!
Billy~you were all so funny figuring out what questions to ask for the guitar prize, but you didn't ask a question? Or did I miss it? Oo
The interviewing Steve, and Jon was great too. Oh yeah, and The Glitterati. Very cool.

Being nosey~What did you guys do after the show?
Hugs

Didn't make the chat, forgot about it.

I'm bummed out that Tommy Vance has passed away.

DJ Tommy Vance dies after stroke

Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Tommy Vance has died in hospital three days after suffering a stroke.

Vance, 63, died at Darent Valley Hospital near Dartford, Kent, early on Sunday morning, his agent said.

The DJ, famous for his gravelly voice, started out on US radio before working at Radio Caroline and Radio 1.

First John Peel, now Tommy ... and the great musicians we've lost in recent years (Johnny Cash, Dimebag Darell, Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone). It sucks.

So I tryed to call into the show on Sat. while getting my Labret pierced, but I got put on hold then my phone cut out.

I had to miss the chat due to my f-ing job! Wish I could have been there. Oh well I went out for a drink with a friend to make my self feel better. Glad to hear it went well.

hey billy, very good chat. It was really fun, enjoyed myself.

Love the pic, very nice. Love the lighting.

Also must say CFR was excellent. Love the new song you and Jon sang. For a first time acoustically I thought you guys did fantastic. Steve and Dave were also very good, all 4 of you were a riot. Had me in stitches.

Everybody, have a good day!

hugs,
tina
