ALL QUIET AROUND HERE
Well the Camp Freddy show at the weekend was a strange one. We played at the Rock N Republic fashion show - while the models walked!! Dave was unable to make it so we asked Steve Jones, Billy Duffy and Jerry Cantrell to cover Stage Right, and had the Cypress Hill guys, Mark McGrath and Josh Todd as guest vocals. It was a short set - five songs while the actual fashion show happened, and then immediately afterwards, another four. The event was held at the Sony Pictures lot in Culver City on one of the huge soundstages they have there. And the runway for the models was a huge X shaped thing, with the band onstage at one end and a massive screen behind us showing the models as they walked. We opened with Love Removal, with Jerry, Billy and myself playing guitar, and Josh singing. The sound was great, and the band sounded tight. We had to fill the gaps between the songs with noise (so that the models werent out on the runway in silence!) and we kept them really short, so we went right into Man In The Box, God Save The Queen .... it seemed to be over before it had begun!! After the models had finished, we did Ballroom, Rock Superstar, Pretty Vacant and Sedated - and that was that. Home James!!! I missed doing the Radio Show, and I listened to Dave and Steve do a wonderful job while I was in the trailer at the gig.
It seems like its 'Back To The Future' with the gigs this week - Motley Crue tomorrow, and Billy Idol on Friday. Both gigs will be a LOT of fun. Steve Jones is getting up and playing with Idol at The Roxy - so if you are in town, get some tickets. And the whole Motley thing is great - Ive already seen them on this tour, but there are a bunch of us going down to the show tomorrow night, so maybe I'll do a full Motley report afterwards!! Now where are my spandex pants? And can we stop at the market and get a cucumber or two?
OK - not a lot to report, so Im gonna ask a question and see if there are any of you lot left out there!!
In fact I'm going to ask two questions. The first is a simple one - but the answers will be very telling ...... The Beatles? Or The Rolling Stones? Easy. Lets see what you think. And the second is a fun one, but I am probably leaving myself open to some abuse!! You are walking around the Sav-On store, and you run right into me, pushing a cart and searching for the weekly supplies. What's the first thing you say to me? I'm basing that one on something that happened to me once. I'll tell you after I see what you guys say.
I am off - I have rambled on enough - I am spent - I am done - I am absolutely finished!! Cant wait for rehearsals later - I need to turn up and play!! See you guys soon.
Peace
Billy

Billy,
Easy on the first question. Stones. Last time I checked, Keith Richards was never a Beatle....
How 'bout a "Clash or Pistols" question??
Second question is a bit tougher, hopefully
I'd just intro myself, shake hands and go about my business, not try to draw you into some inane conversation about the relevence of the punk rock movement and it's affect on British culture in 1977..
Thanks,
Jay

Stones all the way!
You're just scaring me with that second one, Billy, 'cause it's gonna happen! When you were outside the Adidas party last week, did you happen to see a flatbed tow truck drive by with an orange VW bus on it? That was me, my friend, and my bedroom set which broke his van!! :(
Me (leaning over him & gawking out the window): Hey, that's Billy Morrison!
Him: Who's Billy Morrison?
Me: I told you yesterday (he doesn't listen). He's in Camp Freddy...
Classic! LOL

Beatles definitely, the only other person I love as much as Duffy was Lennon, brilliant.
If you really want to know the truth billy, if I ran into you in an aisle, I'd blush a thousand shades and would basically walk away. I'm extremely shy in real life and would never walk up to people. I'm also very private and would never intrude on anyone else.
hugs,
tina

I have no preference regarding the Beatles or Stones, I am a musical leper. My Dad used to throw stones at Ringo Starr whenever he went down their street. So he used to throw Stones at a Beatle [get it]. Anyway he really liked his book of postcards for a Christmas present.
I had that bumping into kind of thing. For the 'Not-Final' gig of Pitchshifter at the Astoria the wife, brother and I had booked into this hotel. We come downstairs to make our way to the gig early, and pick up some food along the way and who should walk into reception but J.S. Clayden. I'm like "what are you doing here in our hotel" I thought it was some wind up, it was so bizarre. We left a note with reception when we left in the morning, and missed our plane home, the wife was seriously pissed off!
So I'd probably not be able to register why you are in such an ordinary place, probably why I have a facination about you musicians doing your own ironing [do you?]. I'd also try not to crash the car trolley my son is riding into your shins. I'm not very good with trolley control.

The Stones, even though I don't think I own any music by either of them.
If I ran into to you at Sav-On... I would either casually start a brief conversation and then go about my business. Or, maybe not say anything at all.
I've had similar things like that happen and I always give people their space and go on with my business. I've passed up opportunities to meet a lot of people.

A big welcome to my good buddy Leon who's joined our little community. From months of lurking to an offcial post, a fine addition to the Doheny family.
Leon is (in)famous around here for one of the greatest lyric miscues of all time, that of the "Sex with her makes my back burn" variety...
Please give him a shout out...

somedays i am beatles, somedays i am stones. today i am beatles.
Posted by: bobbi O at March 22, 2005 04:11 PM
you know, i've gotta say the beatles based solely on the fact that i have more beatles albums than stones albums. but keith richards is my hero.
my answer to that second question is a little smarmy and embarrassing. the best kind, right? i would probably intentionally drop everything in my purse on the ground to see if you'd help me clean my shit up.

Beatles all the way.
If I ran into you at savon, I would probably mumble to myself these rockstars think they own the isle, just cause he has pretty blue eyes was in the cult and is in camp freddy….
Nah just kidding. I don’t know I would probably just mention how incredibly cool you are, blush hope I’m not buying something incredibly embarrassing and move on.
After that I would kick myself for being too embarrassed to ask you to take a picture cause I’m a picture whore and then I would laugh at how teeny boppersish I acted.
(I’m just a big dork with a heart of a teeny bopper that loves the Beatles)

Stones. Pre-"Start Me Up", if I get to narrow my choice.
And if I literally ran into you at the grocery store, I'd apologize for the banging of the carts, and if I could muster the words while keeping from peeing my pants, say Hi and introduce myself, & then go on my way. But all the while I was being shy & apologetic, I'd probably also be checking out, on the sly of course, what you were buying. Because I do that to everyone.

First question...no contest...The Stones.
If I ran into you in Sav-On...hmmmmm...what are you wearing? haha Actually, what am I wearing is the more appropriate question...I'd be thinking something like "how's my hair" and wondering if I need to be running the other way before you see me... ;-)

Beatles
I'd think I would say hello to you and hope that by saying "I'm Matt from your blog" you wouldn't get scared.
Thanks,
Matt

1) Yes, please. Please do a full-on Motley Crue report as seen from YOUR eyes. I suspect that whole LA hairband era passed you by seeing you were in the UK at the time. So I'd like to read what you think.
2) Beatles. John Lennon. That's all.
3) Sav-On. Depending on what time of day it was and whether I could muster up enough courage to intrude on your personal space in a public place I may or may not say a thing. However, if it were late at night and I've been out having a few cocktails and realized I needed something at Sav-On, then yeah I'd pop a breath mint and walk over and introduce myself. Liquid courage can be quite helpful in those awkward moments. ;-)

Stones without a doubt, I do like the Beatles music, but to be honest I prefer it when done by another band or singer.
As for bumping into you in the shopping isle, after figuring out whether it is you or not, I would have to say Hi (Lisa would be with me as well) so I would probably let Lisa do all the talking (She usually does anyhow) oops!! I am in trouble again:)
Lisa will have to answer this question really before you get my answer, whatever she says goes, she is the boss.

Dave~What a suck up! :P You are so full of it!
I'd bet you'd tell some silly story about Great Yarmouth to Billy, and then ask him where to get tobacco cheap!
The Stones.
Without a doubt. Although, I liked the Beatles when I was very young too. George Harrison was so sweet, and he never got the
recognition he deserved. Yeah he got it I know, he deserves more! My Mum sewed some things for his home, near Reading, just before he died. I was so sad about him. But I grew up on the Stones. It's in my blood. My Dad was pals with Brian Jones, and followed the Stones around in the very early days, around Reading area/London. Brian lived just outside Reading. Okay. Yadda yadda.
The Stones are sexy.
If I bumped into you Billy,( and I hope I do! :D ) I know what I'd really do is scream really loudly, "Billy!!!! Oh my god!" and start jumping up and down. I'd probably scare the shit out of you by hugging you, and you'd be like who the hell is this!!! Oo
So I guess I better practice saying, "Hi, I'm Lisa" (Lisa who?) "You know from your blog" etc. Bla bla. Conversation. Starbucks Billy? Sure Lisa.
Love and hugs
Lisa

Oh yeah! One more little thing. Last couple of days, I've had google alerts saying Anthony Keidis got in a fight with 8 security guards at the LA Fashion Show. Is that who you helped?
Hey, the story is all in the net press already about Keidis!

Now i know what i will be doing if I met you, Hiding somewhere in embarassment coz Lisa will be jumping around like a nutter,
Posted by: DaveC at March 23, 2005 08:52 AM
The real question is..Do you like the Blues or Skiffle? :D
Posted by: ylais at March 23, 2005 12:09 PM
BEATLES. That whole big huge lips thing really just kind of freaks me out.
If I saw you at the grocery store, I probably wouldn't say anything to you, except maybe smile and say hi if you looked in my direction. I would probably not be sure if it was you or not.
Posted by: zannebee at March 23, 2005 01:03 PM
Billy~Get two cucumbers, and put one on each side! :D
Posted by: ylais at March 23, 2005 02:21 PM
Lisa, a cucumber on each side????? Boy that would certainly get Billy some odd looks. ROFL
Posted by: tina at March 23, 2005 02:40 PM
Psst, hey Billy. Meet me in the produce aisle of Gelson's in a half hour & we'll take some photos for tomorrow's blog...kidding, kidding...well, sort of...lol.
