STUDIO TAN
Good morning people. Ever heard of the studio tan? It’s the suntan that you don’t get when you are in the recording studio all the time!! You can tell the guys who are ‘in the studio’ cos they start to get this translucent white color!! I think I’m getting a studio tan! Another day of recording – this time with Jon, doing more vocals on that new song. I think we’ll get all the rest of the vocals done today, which would be killer – I know he has the lyric finished …. Just a matter of nailing the performance (which Jon seems to do most times!). Yesterdays Camp Freddy recording stuff went really smoothly and Mike and I are back in there on Wednesday and Friday of this week, with more guests and more editing.
The phone has been ringing off the hook and the emails have been flooding in since that Tsunami announcement. I don’t really know much more than what I have posted already. The show is on Friday 18th Feb at The Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, and features The Crystal Method, Story Of The Year, Jurassic 5, Blink 182, Linkin Park with Jay Z, No Doubt and Camp Freddy. We know that Ozzy Osbourne will be performing with us, and we are in the process of putting the rest of the show together. All proceeds go to Music For Relief.
The Grammys are coming up this weekend and the whole of Hollywood starts racing around trying to hold the best party, the most glamorous event or give the most famous person the most expensive gift. Its pretty wild here at this time of year, and I am sure that I will be out and about for a night or two – if the recording schedule between Doheny’s new demos and the Camp Freddy album permits (for those of you who sent birthday cards to me – a HUGE thank you, and also …… its too late to tell me not to work on my birthday – we are already booked to do some editing and record another guest on Wednesday!!)
So who do you think deserves the Grammy? Cast your votes here and see if anyone can predict the winners. Obviously, my vote is for the Velvet Revolver guys, but who else do we want to win? Who deserves the recognition this year? Who made the biggest splash – and do they really deserve the attention? And who should be winning a Grammy but isn’t nominated? All opinions welcome.
Alright folks – enough of me – Dave has some new fun Doheny art up in the 'Your Artwork 4' page. I am gonna down the caffeine and get to work. I want to have the track sounding perfect when Jon gets here. I want to make it as easy and painless as possible. So check back soon – and have a great day. Oh – and check out the ‘Tabloid Magazine’ artwork for today. I LOVE it.
Peace
Billy

without the evergreen scent,
what does a doheny air freshener smell like?
...studio sweat?,
to go with
that
studio tan? ( Zappa/1978 )
well thats my coffee-fuelled-air fresh'ner-artwrk-inspired poem for today

I can't stand the Grammys, hate that stuff with a passion. But I'll play along...
I'm with most of Jay's predictions. Green Day will win big. Though I'll take PJ Harvey over Franz Ferdinand and Slipknot over VR.
Franz Ferdinand - i've tried and tried, but damn, they are overrated.
Let me say this about VR...Contraband is a good album, they put on a good live show, i love their former bands but ultimately...i hate to say this...but i do think they are a tad overrated. I expect the next VR album to be much better than Contraband...don't get me wrong, i like it, but i see it as like, larvae. Just a start...I expect the next album to be like a butterfly. Corny analogy but perhaps you get my point.

I love Franz Ferdinand. :D
It's my only child's, my son Miles, 15th birthday today. And he's in NJ; and I'm
in the UK. Feeling a bit out of sorts.
Got a bit wrapped up in that.
I was going to be cheeky yesterday, and ask you to do a shout out to my son on here for his birthday; then I realised he probably wouldn't be on the net. Oh. I'm just grumpy forgive me.
Billy, you're the greatest! :D Hope you had a wonderful birthday!
Love and hugs
Lisa

Happy Birthday Billy :)
I loved U2 for the longest time and I believe they still make great music. I'm a little saddened by the cost of their forth-coming tour. I say give it to the new guys.
Velvet Revolver Green Day and The Killers I think I like them. They have a good 80's sound.

Billy,
As an addendum to my previous Grammified post...
The Pistols were rocked at the gym tonight in your honor.
An homage if you will.
Much love and respect on your birthday.

Hahahaha ... do you and Dave get in trouble for hijacking Indie 103, ahead of schedule? Loved the A-team mix, and thanks for clearing up the phoneline thing :) CFR was hillarious as usual, and some great tunes.
I'm not that keen on the Grammy's, especially when they gave an award to Bett Midler over Barry White. Just seems bullshit to me.

Happy Birthday Billy, and since you didn't listen to my advice, at least make it a short day. ;)
Heidi, love the birthday suit, good job El ;)
As for the grammy's, I usually don't watch them because they rarely have anyone on I want to see. I'll usually watch the beginning to see who'll be performing and if there is anyone, I'll try to flip back and forth and catch them, I usually end up missing though. I hope VR do win though. ;)
I'm on course this week, learning how to program high-speed internet for my customers so back at it.
hugs,
tina

i'm actually excited about the grammys this year because i'm headed to a NARAS viewing party with !free sushi! i am, like most everyone else here, pulling for VR. those boys totally deserve it, though it looks like green day and u2 are the ones to beat.
and i hope you have an amazing and productive birthday, billy! let the starbucks giftcards roll in.
