OSCAR FEVER

California_stormsff_la113_20050222223535Hollywood gets a little feverish at this time of year. Its collective brow starts to sweat, its inhabitants start running around giving lots of free shit away to anyone they can find, money changes hands, parties rage for days, and Johnny Depp and Scorsese get ready to be disrespected again. I'm talking about the Oscars. That once a year event that shows just how corrupt and injust the movie making business actually is - did anyone see Depp's performance in The Pirates Of The Caribbean? How much brilliance do you actually need to display before winning one of these little statues? But I'm not complaining - I get to go to all the run-up parties and events that they hold the week before the ceremony. Yesterday was a 'Beauty Buffet' - a huge building full of different vendors (video game companies, food, clothing, aftershave, silverware.....anything you can think of, short of a car!!) and people wander through it with a shopping bag being given stuff. ONLY in Hollywood!! I got a few nice things (some new John Varvatos aftershave, some Ugg's for the wife, and and a 30 day skincare program in a swanky Beverly Hills spa!!) but the highlight was a gorgeous grey puppy that just loved me!! I spent more time playing with him than anything else!! Oh, and some guy asked me to drive a Lamborghini from LA to Vegas as part of a 'Cannonball Run' type thing - we'll see if it actually happens!!
Billy_and_puppy

More rehearsals today - and I hope we sound better than last time!! I have brushed up on my memory of our songs, and I'm hoping the rest of the guys have too!! Its always a shock when you take a few weeks off, and then you come back and cant remember how the damn songs go!! But I'm looking forward to getting it all back and sounding as tight as we did at the end of last year. Later this evening, I will be attending Martin Scorsese's party here in LA.

The pic I've used today was from the recent storms in LA. Can you believe that shit!? Thats taken from Venice Beach, CA!!! Somethings up people - remember Bush saying that Global Warming didn't exist? Someone needs to show George this pic - this is Southern California, George......shit like that doesn't happen here!!! But it seems to be a little calmer today. The sun is out - time to bust the convertible out again and re-capture the 'I moved to LA to hang out and eat salad' feeling!!!

Bobbi-O - What are you doing to me?! Those dunks are unavailable in LA and now I'm obsessing!! Thanks for the link - and thanks for adding yet another pair to my everlasting list of 'Dunks I Want'!!

OK - I'm outta here. Seems as if I need to play some Steve Jones on Saturday, so all requests have been noted and I will do what I can. Dave is not available again this Saturday - dont really understand why....I mean he's chosen playing cards with Shannon Elizabeth over hanging out with me in a small, dark radio station. Just dont understand it.......!!!!! Good luck to him, and I know he'll be back next week - we all miss him. I'll be back at the weekend - have a great day everyone and see ya soon.

Peace

Billy

HA - props to you if you can score pair of the pigeon dunks...though getting a pair might be akin to winning a small lottery. i want a pair myself, if i see 'em around i'll drop you a line.

Billy,

Just received the CF Key Club gig limited edition t shirt and autographed promo poster I won last week on CF Radio.

Big ups to you, Dono and the crew at Indie.

Very cool.

Thank you,
Jay

What am i thinking? some of the nyc dunks are going for well over $600 on ebay...wear a pair of those on the subway and i'll get jumped real quick, might as well wear a bullseye on each foot.

Billy if your still taking requests, how 'bout some old Killing Joke. Eighties sounds nice.

I think I'd play with a puppy most of the day too. Those big convention centre type places bother me, especially when you get jumped on by any company rep that's an eyelash away.

I've had a pretty good week with my brother in Brighton; I think it was sunnier there at times then in LA! Still, we had snow, but not as bad as the rest of the country. Oh, and also, I've found my dream course and am thinking of going back into education to study Sound Engineering and Tour Management. Not only that, but the college manager is Jon's bro! Tres cool, no?

Billy, I got a bit of a favour to ask. You're really cool in reading our replies and doing requests as best you can on Camp Freddy Radio (one of the best things about CFR is the fact you and Dave get to play what you want, even unsigned stuff). My friend's band are about to take the plunge and release an album nationally, and I was wondering if it'd be cool to send you a copy of the album to check out, and if you dig it play one of the tracks off it sometime on a CFR show. It'd mean a lot to me, and hell, it'd make up for the phone fiasco I had with Indie a couple weeks back! lol Anyway up to you (the band's site is in the URL field I entered for this comment) :)

Take it easy (as best a hard working rocker can)

All I have to say is god, how adorably sweet. You look like you're totally in love. A perfect match. What a great photo. I hope you get to have a puppy someday.

hey billy, the weather has been freaky as of late.

LOVE LOVE LOVE that puppy pic. Heck I just love the puppy in general. Did you take it home? ;) I'm a huge animal lover, prefer them over most people. I don't have any pets myself. My apartment isn't even big enough for me let alone a pet who would have to stay home all day alone.

A few years ago I had a cat, had her from 6 weeks old till she was about 3, but she went a bit crazy, I think from being alone all day and never going out. At the end she was attacking people who visited, which I didn't really mind LOL but I'd wake up with my arms all scratched. I can sleep through anything. Anyway, a friend took her to live in the country where she wouldn't always be alone and could get out.

I miss her though, her name is pookie. ;b hehehe I named her after my friend's husband. I call him pookiebear and when I got pookie, told him he owed me child support, but somehow he just laughed and ignored me. ;)

Well ta for now and Lisa, BEHAVE!!!!!!

hugs,
tina

ps. oh yes, Jules, WELCOME BACK. We missed ya!

Fabulous job on CFR tonight Billy! The Two Billys show never disappoints. You can sing Cult songs any time you like - Rain was smashing! And Duffy's just always great. A girl can never have too much Duffy.

Did anyone get tonights CFR recorded? If not, what was that other site where they replay it? Thanks! :-)

Billy thanks for jumping off the cliff and singing Rain for us. I know it was a daunting task, ac/dc acoustic was priceless.

Billy, awesome show and way to keep it a secret. What a great surprise to hear Duffy was guest-hosting with you.

And thanks letting me talk... you KNEW I was going to call in. LOL

Both live songs you did were awesome. And nothing to apologize for with Rain, you did a fantastic job on it... a very pretty version, i love it.

Last night's cfr was one of the best I've heard. The 2 hours just flew by, didn't even seem like it was that long.

Karen you know I recorded it, email me hon I also have something else you may want.

big hugs to everyone,
tina

Welp, the bitch is back. Hey all! Nice to be back in the good old U S of A....really, it is. Was eating way too much good food over in France. Didn't buy much of anything since the dollar is way down and the Euro is way up. Phew...tired. Traveling is SO tired. Just getting over my jet lag and back to normal eating habits. But it's good to be back to my old friends here and of course, the good reading of the blog here.

Academy awards~ What's going on? I don't recognise any of the movies! Oo I wish they'd stop yelling at us from the red carpet. OUCH!

I'm out of it though, I don't even know who Shannon Elizabeth is. I didn't know who Paris Hilton was until a couple of months ago.

I loved CFR last night. It was great! Rain was a real treat. Thank you!

hugs

Hey Billy,

Cool CF show with you and Mr Duffy 26/2/05. I listenned today on the Panic Channel Online Archive.

I missed BD performing at the recent Gathering in Wales - but it was great to hear you guys chat and play the AC/DC track, but best of all was the cool rendition of Rain. Thanks for keeping a Cult fan happy.

Respect from a Wintery North Wales, UK.

True story.
Damn..I could be very rude now..I think I better zip my mouth up. :X
