STAYING UNDER THE RADAR
Hi guys. I've surfaced briefly to check in here (cos I LOVE it!!) but I'm going back into studio mode after this. Its really hard to stay focused hour after hour - when I started playing music, I didnt think I would be staring at waveforms on computer screens all day long!! But these days, thats how you do it. So I have been trying to concentrate ob getting some new tunes demoed. I think they are sounding ok - its hard to tell at the moment. We cancelled rehearsal yesterday, as the rains in LA just made it too hard to get anywhere!! I also needed the time in the studio. But the sun is out this morning, so I I think the mad weather is over. Crazy shit going on here - houses sliding into the road, boulders blocking major highways.....I think, on reflection, I'm better off in front of the monitors right now!!
Wanted to post this pic of a poster thats being done for the Tsunami Benefit show on 27th. I think it looks really cool. We are still working on getting an address, or a method of being able to donate if you are not coming to the show. I think it'll be Indie 103.1FM's address but we have to confirm that. I will let you know.
Apologies if my posts have been less than enthralling recently - I really am having to concentrate on work right now. And Doheny are not booking any shows until we have the new demo's done. Its very important to us that we nail a deal in the first half of this year - we are ready to make the record, and we need to concentrate on the business side of 'music business'. So be patient, and all will be wonderful. Thats it - I'm gonna fire up the ol' G5 and see if I can get the bassline down that I was working on yesterday. Have a great day, and I'll be back soon.
Peace
Billy

Hey Billy,
I think you may have answered this in the past - but what software do you use in the studio? ProTools? Emagic? I used Emagic a few years back - definately found the learning curve a bit steep at first.
One of my new year's resolutions is to conquer Reason 2.5 and Cubase SX. I made these DIY electronic drum triggers from coffee cans and Radio Shack parts...hooked them up to a friends module, then into my computer and presto! They work awesome. Now i just need to invest in the proper module and i'll be set...nothing like making stuff on the cheap

Hi Billy,
Quick question, for a musician/group trying to "nail a deal", how tough is the process of dealing with "business side of the music business"?
Some insight please.
Thank you,
Jay

hey billy, you sound a busy but we all understand. And we're very forgiveable as we all too want more than anything for you guys to get a deal this year as well. And I know it takes a lot of work so good luck!
The poster is fantastic, I love it. If they make any extras maybe they could put them up on the Camp Freddy site along with t-shirts (maybe) to sell as well. I'd love to get my mitts on one.
You're right about the weather, it's really crazy this year. Even here we should be full-blown into freeze and snow but one day it's cold, the next it's really warm and rainy, it plays havoc with my health. I'm either dressed to warm or not warm enough and I'm starting to get a cold. It's the last thing I need, i've already had pneumonia 3 times in the past couple years and it's hell to live through.
Anyway time for us all to get back to work. ;) RP love the whip sound ;)
hugs,
me

Got my tickets for the 27th!!!!! See you there :D
Billy do you know what organization the donations will go to...just curious. The company I work for is matching any contributions we give through them 3 to one...so while I would normally donate to one that I know 100% is going to the disaster...this time I will donate to the red cross, since GAP, inc is tripling it I guess I'm actually giving more this way! (Hope so anyway!!!)

Hi Billy,
Any news on when and where we will be able to hear the new version of "Eve of Destruction" with MDB on vocals?

Have you started collecting animals two by two yet? Man you guys are having some nasty weather. Just wondering Billy, other than your wife and guitars..what would you save first if the house started flooding?
stamp collection?..favorite pair of 9 year old socks?..velvet pic of Steve Jones?
btw.. Js.. nice MDB page...:)

Stamp collection...lol And that velvet pic of Jonesy had better glow under a black light...
I'd guess his Nike Dunks collection would be right up there with the guitars. ;-)

Hiya! "Daddy's Girl" here. I totally empathise, I've been madly involved with making some money lately too. It's that New Year thing.
Been trying to think of a question you would refuse to answer Billy! :D I thought of a couple, but some things to me are off limits to ask. I'm a weirdo. I usually wait for people to tell me stuff when they are comfortable telling me.
But anyway, so Billy how often do you masturbate? :P
Love
Lisa

I'm the one who sat on 6767 pouting until Dave answered my repeated questions about how he met you. That was me, and I'm proud of it!!! :D

Tina~Don't eat the yellow snow!

Did Dave actually answer that question about how they met Lisa? What did he say?
When you ask Billy how they met, he says ask Dave...when you ask Dave, he says ask Billy...lmao
Conspiracy? tee hee Me thinks they're hiding something juicy...lol

Lisa, we don't have yellow snow in NB ;)
I agree, billy you're having some nasty weather out there. Saw it on tv last night, wowzers. They're calling for some nasty weather here tonight, snow, freezing rain, then a drop to -14C, i'm not looking forward to going outside tomorrow in all that ice and mess. ;b
oh lisa, my lil pookiebear, whatcha up to today?
hugs,
moi

me again, just wanted to say i agree with MissHeidi, billy would save his Nike's after Jen and his guitars. ;)
Posted by: tina at January 12, 2005 05:35 AM
Billy~I posted a pic of you on the new TPC forum. :D
I got all giddy, cos Dave was on there the same time as me in the inappropriate behaviour section.
Tina~No dogs pissing on the snow where you are?!!! :O shocking!
Yeah, Dave said, he didn't remember that's why he hadn't answered me before. But Billy did answer on here. Billy said Dave remembered it differently, so I asked Dave, but he's keeping it quiet.
I may resort to some more pouting!
Hugs!!!

Speaking of Nike Dunks...has Billy told us what shoe size he is?
Posted by: ylais at January 12, 2005 06:50 AM
LISA!! I forgot to give you props for that...and I agree, that there must be some deep dark secret...involving PORN...behind Billy and Dave's first meeting....lol
I love the pic of Billy in the Celebrities I 'd like to nail thread at the Panic Community, just wish it was bigger...or that another button was undone....
Billy!!! Great Poster, can't wait to see you in person....
