LADIES AND GENTLEMEN....ROUND 2!!
My body aches and my mind is mush. We started with Mike Clink yesterday at 11.00am and I got home at 2.30am - a 15 hour day. And we haven't even started on the vocals yet!! So its 8.30am and I am leaving here in an hour or so to go back and do it all again. We WILL finish the track today. But it sounds SO good. The song is a slow, haunting track with acoustic guitars that we have played live a few times, and Mike is doing such a cool job with it. I'm really excited by this one - I always knew it had potential - we just needed to record it properly. And now its sounding exactly like I imagined. Jon will do his thing today, and I will do all the backing vocals, and we will mix it tonight. Hearing it back as we packed up last night (just 6 hours ago actually!) I really think we have a winner with this one. The combination of Drive Me, Evergreen, California, Watching It All Burn, and now Dust gives us some great ammunition in the war to get this album made. Fingers crossed everyone.
Not a lot else to tell you - Sean shut his finger in the studio door last night and the tip of his finger immediately looked like a small table tennis ball.......but dark red!! I think he'll be ok, but I dont think he'll be picking his nose anytime soon!! Tony and Colin did a fantastic job and laid down their tracks in four takes - quick, accurate, professional. And Sean (before he decided to have a fight with the door!) was equally as pro, sitting around all day for 12 hours, and then doing all his bits at midnight. I loved working with those guys yesterday. And I know Jon will nail it today - he always does. Me? I spent two hours with the acoustic guitar, playing the same riff over and over until I was sick of it. Mike knows how to get a performance out of me.
Check out Skotts KILLER hand tattoo pic I posted today. That boy has great ideas and keeps coming up with cool Doheny artwork ideas....I LOVE it. More artwork from everyone please - its great to see everyone's ideas. Oh, and the wrong song lyrics topic is GENIUS!!! PLEASE keep them coming. I laughed out loud in the studio yesterday when I read Linda's sisters take on the Guns And Roses classic.......'Take me down to the very nice city'!!! And Lisa's Dad clinches the championship with that well known Clapton song about a girl that really is doing rather well.........'She's alright, she's alright, she's alright...........she's OK!!!!!' AAaahahhhaaa!!!! And by the way Lisa - I will be letting the band know of our new photoshoot idea immediately. "Right guys, now take all your clothes off and hold this tiny little sign in front of you!!!" Fantastic!
Thats all I got for you today - time to squish my brain into an even musher state. Have a wonderful day everyone. Just one more thing to do.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIA!!!!!!!!!
Peace
Billy

Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday!!! How sweet of everyone. And thank you so much Billy for that special shout out! That made my day! I was a bit disappointed because it's snowing here and the weather is lousy...But when I saw the birthday wishes it just made the day extremely cool. I'm the big 2-3 now...gettin' on in years. Have a good day everyone in hopefully snow-free areas :)

The whole photo shoot idea of Lisa's might not be a bad idea... I remember the first photo I saw of INXS. It was the inside cover of one of their albums, they were all laying in bed with nothing on but a sheet covering their private parts. I've been listening to INXS for 20yrs. now. It definitely got my attention. ;-)

That's hysterical!!!
I like that photo shoot idea too...

I just heard Judy is a Punk on the radio and The Ramones are always good for misheard lyrics. Being of mind that New York is the center of the universe and that punk rockers live precarious lives, I'd always heard it as "they both went down to brooklyn, joined the ice capades, oh i don't know why my friends die". I don't know how many Ramones songs I've mangled over the years, but hey, it's punk rock......

Skot, love the pic, very cool. As much as we'd love another band chat, I think they're a bit busy at this time for one. But that still shouldn't stop the rest of us from having one, to discuss what we can do to get doheny out there, get the forum more active, etc. ;)
Billy I can't wait to hear Dust. On the key club clip of a few songs you put up, there's one where you guys are sitting on stools and I think the song you're singing is Dust. If so, I LOVE what I heard of it so what you've been doing the past few days should be awesome.
Poor Sean. Billy, did anyone kiss it to make it better? LOL Reminds me over summer, coming back from the beach I had a really bad sunburn, so bad my back blistered *ick* but while getting out of the car my sister slammed the door on my hand, made me forget about the sunburn for a bit. lol As you all probably know by now, I'm a walking accident. ;b
anyway, we're in the middle of another storm but I made it to work so I'm off to pack. they're moving us around on tuesday.
hugs,
me

yeah, damn it hurts when you slam you hand/finger in a door! (or someone else does)
Question~How come the "Drive Me" video isn't working for me? On here, or Pony's site?
I'm looking forward to hearing "Dust" too. :D
Chat~YES!!! more active forum~Yes!!! I mean I'm spending time in the Billy appreciation thread in the TPC community...makes sense doesn't it? Oo nope. But then having Dave on there loads in the middle of the night makes it very interesting.
Billy~Is the song "Billy Boy" for you? Was just listening to it in my itunes. If it isn't it should be! :)
hugs
Lisa

Hmm.
I think what Mr. Morrison needs, is a gingerbread latte, some dipping cookies, and a chocolate pretzel stick.

Ooooh Billy...I loooove "Dust" I can't wait to hear what you guys have done with it in the studio!! That one really sticks in my head, glad you had the good sense to work with it until it sounded just right rather than cutting it, because its a great song ;)
