COULDNT THINK OF A TITLE!!

Billymorrison_live_campfreddy16Oh my GOD!!! I am sitting in the middle of what used to be the studio, and it is completely empty. I am sitting cross legged on the floor with my laptop, waiting for ‘The Men’ to arrive and lay the new carpet. Isn’t it funny that whenever you have work done, or maybe the phone company is putting a line in, or sometimes you have some trouble with the plumbing, its always the faceless ‘men’ that come round. “What are you doing this morning Billy?”……”Oh I’m just waiting for ‘The Men’ to come round and and fix my…..” – You get the picture. Just a thought – show’s me that I need to drink another coffee before actually speaking!!

So today, I doubt I will get any work done. I got as far as I could last night, re-working our track, ‘So Right’ before I had to dismantle the whole studio and have it moved out. (‘The Men’ need a completely blank canvas to work from, apparently) It was sounding so good. Never mind – when the floor is done, I intend to put the studio back together in a far better way – all the cables will be top quality, and everything will make sense ergonomically. It won’t make the songs sound any better, but it’ll make me happier about sitting in there for hours on end.

I want to let you guys know of a great photography exhibition that takes place on January 29th at the 319 Gallery, 319 Wilshire Blvd in Santa Monica. It is by photographer Robert Knight, and one of the prints - a HUGE 30" print of yours truly, will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to the Grammy's Music Cares program. It helps musicians in need. The print in question will be the picture I have posted for todays blog entry, and I will sign it. I will be at the exhibition from 9pm onwards on the 29th and there are wonderful photos on display of everyone from Navarro to Jimmy Page.

Work continues on the benefit CF show. We will be selling limited edition Posters and Tee Shirts at the show to supplement the $10 door fee. I think we can raise a decent amount for the charity, and any merch that’s left over will be sold on the site and again, all proceeds will go to the Tsunami Relief Fund at The American Red Cross. I think the poster is going to be the one I posted as yesterdays pic. I heard they are silk screening them and having the artist and the band sign them all. Nice!!

Questions -
Bobbi-O - I use Emagic's Logic 7. An amazing program and I find it to be the best (and logical!) music program out there. And your homemade triggers sound AWESOME!!! Well done!!

Jay - The 'business' side of the Music Business is tougher than ANYONE can imagine. There are thousands of bands out there, trying to get a deal, and most of the guys running the labels are so scared to take a risk that they actually only sign three bands a year!! Convincing them that YOUR band is the one that will make them the most money is the hardest thing to do!!

Abby - ALL the proceeds from the CF show on 27th will be donated to The American Red Cross. They have the quickest route for the funds travelling directly to Asia, and those people need the money NOW.

J.S.- No news on the track as yet. It is finished and its now in the hands of Jeff Greenberg at The Village Studios, who is sorting out actually releasing it. I'll let you know.

Electric Mayhem - Ha!! Great question. When the waters come flooding through the door, I would have my laptop under my arm, my black Les Paul Standard in one hand, and my wife in the other. Everything else can stay........except for maybe the original 1977 Destroy Muslin from Seditionaries.......oh, and what about the limited edition Nike Dunks in Louis Vuitton leather?......ah, and what about the new Chrome Hearts leather trenchcoat?.......oh shit, I'm in trouble!!!

Ylais - EVERY DAY!!! At least once!! A very important part of the day! And by the way, I am size US9 - the best size to get all the rare colors of Dunks.

Anyway – more coffee – waiting for the men – smoke another cigarette – gotta give this shit up. I’m outta here. Have a wonderful day!!

Billy

US9, definately THE best size!!! :D

I'm sitting here drinking a cup of coffee too, and waiting for my guitar teacher, okay that's about an hour away...but I get myself prepared before.

Bagged Bohemian Rhapsody, of course..onto The Darkness now. What a relief.

Everyday!!! WOW! It must be the coffee.

Billy. I actually succumbed to looking a the Dunks when I was on ebay. See what you're doing? I'm looking at sneakers!!!

Posted by: ylais at January 12, 2005 08:43 AM

Billy, if you were getting a phone installed here, you could be waiting for a "woman" instead of "men". We have a few female technicians. One of them I work for, she's a cutiepie and I know my customers love when she comes in to do work. lol Yes I work for a phone company, I take care of all the call centres in the city, one being Xerox. ;b

I am going to hope that there will be a few posters and t-shirts left over because I WANT ONE!!!!! Okay everybody, cross your fingers and toes and whatever else you got that I will be able to get one of each. I'd even settle for at least a poster.

Lisa, when I was in highschool I was trying to learn to play the trumpet. Oh what a joyous day for my music teacher when I finally gave it up. After a year I still could not hit any high notes. lol

Oh wanted to say I got the NME special edition GOTH and Rock Gods in the mail monday. That's amazing as I ordered them last thursday and they came all the way to canada in a few days. The mags are awesome, GOTH really takes me back to my teen years.

Anyhoo, back to work.

hugs,
moi

Okay sorry again, but I forgot to mention, nice picture billy and the person who finally ends up with it will be lucky. I've admired Mr Knight's photography for some time. Sorry for me that I can't get to see it. ;)

Tina~trumpet is very difficult. My friend played and I'd have a try on it..man I am struggling to say this without sounding rude..
lmao...she'd..damn.let me..blow..trumpet...whatever..
forget it..
I couldn't get any sound out of it.

My son started playing trumpet really young, and he's really good at it, the little devil, and at guitar too. He's 15 next month, and he's started teaching a couple of younger kids already. He can figure out songs by ear. Which is fascinating really, because my Nan is like that too, and they say it skips a generation.

Today at "school", we figured I was a natural at singing (!!! :D)Getting the timing right on.. :D and playing the beginning of Paradise City.
And every time I say, "I love that song!" it has "only 3 chords"

Bohemian Rhapsody has, and this was a wee quiz question I gave you all...:P...60 chords in it..okay they aren't all 'real' chords technically..but..no way am I up to that standard yet. I learned about a 3rd of the song, and still had to look at the music for prompting. Oo That song is some Holy Grail here or something.

Huge hugs and cuddles, and thanks for reading my ramblings!
Lisa

if anyone needs someone to keep time for them, i'm your woman!!! :D

Posted by: ylais at January 12, 2005 03:22 PM

Those faceless "men" are usually "guys" to me... like the lawn guy, the phone guy, the cable guy... etc.

Posted by: zannebee at January 12, 2005 03:29 PM

The comic book dude...

Posted by: ylais at January 12, 2005 04:22 PM

the gas man...

Posted by: ylais at January 12, 2005 04:23 PM

Billy~serious question. How much do you think those photos will fetch?

Posted by: ylais at January 12, 2005 04:24 PM

yeah, that is a really nice photo of Billy!
The CF poster is rockin', too!

That photography exhibition sounds like it would bee cool to go to.
Just got my tickets for the Camp Freddy show today! looking forward to it!
Do you have any idea of what songs you'll play?

back here again..got slightly overwhelmed on the TPC boards...bit of squabbling going on over there. I'm hanging here. :D

Posted by: ylais at January 12, 2005 07:12 PM

Egads!! I need to order myself one of those posters! Make TONS extra Billy!! Silk screened? Signed? sigh... :-)

Lisa, I think that new board for TPC is hysterical. The "inappropriate behavior" section is great for a laugh.

I also got a link from there to download a TPC show off the net (thanks again FreAk!) What more can a junkie ask for?

And Billy, limited edition Nike Dunks in Louis Vuitton leather??? Picture please!!

Good morning everybody.

If any of you (I mean canadians) are going to be around a TV tonight, 7-10 (eastern), tune into the CBC for the tusanmi relief concert. Here are some of the scheduled performers:

Tragically Hip, Blue Rodeo, Rush, Bryan Adams, Tom Cochrane, Sloan, Sam Roberts, Barenaked Ladies, Bruce Cockburn, Jann Arden, Molly Johnson (love her), and many more.

There will be a number to call for donations.

hugs,
moi

Tina~I saw your post over on the TPC boards.
Great to see you there. I replied to you. :D

Yeah, "inappropriate behaviour" is pretty much the area I hang out in.

I was trying to post a pic in there, but Dave was on at the same time in the same forum, and I got all flustered, and set off all sorts of programs on my comp.

Posted by: ylais at January 13, 2005 08:02 AM

Lisa, you are an inappropriate behaviour ;b

Posted by: tina at January 13, 2005 10:06 AM

lmao! Tina!!!! :O ssshhh...don't tell anyone. I was trying to keep it a secret.

Posted by: ylais at January 13, 2005 10:15 AM

Lisa, you're too funny! :)

FH, where's your druggie hat?? :P

Posted by: Alchemy at January 13, 2005 10:42 AM

Lisa, you got all flustered when you saw Dave in the same forum as you! How do you think I felt when I called into CFR and got to talk to Billy Duffy? lol

Posted by: tina at January 13, 2005 12:04 PM

Actually, if anyone wants to watch the benefit concert, can do so online here

http://www.cbc.ca/canadaforasia/

scroll down a bit and click on the window's media player.

The concert starts at 7 pm eastern time and look above for some of the acts.

Posted by: tina at January 13, 2005 12:33 PM

Lol. Tina. I can imagine. I think I would have been getting hot under the collar myself...two Billy's. But I know what a great fan you are of Duffy...that must have been such a thrill.
:D

Posted by: ylais at January 13, 2005 05:33 PM

Oh yeah, we were kind of talking about a sexy topic in that forum. Okay, it was outright about sex. I admit it.

Posted by: ylais at January 13, 2005 05:36 PM

I guess I'd better go find my hat and bust it out...lol

Where's the thread of pics with rock stars holding fruit? :-P

Posted by: flamingheart at January 13, 2005 08:19 PM

I spend a few days away from the blog and look what happens...out of the loop again. Well, off to the grind. Gotta get the dough to pay for my trip to France :)

Hi there Billy ,

On the subject of how difficult it is, these days, to actually sign a deal with a record label, would it help or ruin, if a torrent of our e-mails, or a petition, was sent showing them our desire to purchase a Doheny record ??? I'm curious about it...I mean, if, after all, it came down to simply trying to reduce risks, some kind of signal that a band has a good fan base would have to be an important factor in a final decision...

Good old days when talent / musicianship were the starting point,"Damn you're a bunch of talented young men...let's give it a try" . Now, it seems to be "Well, you're talented, but let's run a study to see how many copies would you sell before we go on" if each album is not a platinun seller you get booted and that's it. It's a shame, they are killing creative power that could result in masterpieces.

Hope you guys get a good and decent contract soon, and as much as I want to put my hands on it, I understand you have to be very careful and move slow in order to get a good deal.

Peace,

JRoberto
