TIVO TIVO TIVO

5d_skotlogoOh yeah!! My Tivo arrived yesterday after a long wait, and I spent most of last night surrounded by cables and manuals, trying to hook it up and figure out how to make it all work. I finally had it sorted out about midnight and started playing around with it. Its pretty fucking cool!! You can pause and rewind live TV, as you watch it!! Then fast forward back to live TV!! And obviously, you can record hours of TV, to watch whenever you want. Hey - little things please little minds!!! Anyway, I'm really happy with it, and I'm going to hook it up to the studio Wi-Fi network today, which apparently enables you to do a bunch of stuff over broadband. I know - I'm just a Tech Head at heart.

Anyway - I just got carried away with work yesterday, and then the Tivo arrived late afternoon, and before I knew it, I hadnt posted on the Blog. Naughty Billy. Bad Billy. Apologies - I just forgot!! So here I am with an update.
The Modern Guitars interview came out really good - its feature length, and has a bunch of great pics in it. I am waiting for a URL and I will post up the link when I get it. And I am doing another interview tomorrow night for Sky TV - its a thing called Authentic TV. I know nothing about it, but I will be doing the interview from the Vintage section of Guitar Center. If anyone knows what Authentic TV is, let me know. I'll find out when it airs in the UK.

We're still working on a final date for the free Camp Freddy show. We settled on one yesterday, and then found out that Matt is coming back for a week or two, so we want to move it, so that Matt can do the show. I'm going to work on it today - as soon as we know, I will let you know. And Pony - The LIT dates are not happening for Doheny. But there will be new dates for early 2005 announced as soon as we have them in stone. A pity, that one - I felt the LIT/Doheny bill would have rocked. Maybe next year.

What about Motley Crue? Well, the whole night was a mad one. WAY too many people trying to get in to both the Palladium and then the aftershow at the Whiskey A Go Go. I was lucky enough to have what I needed, but still had to wade through a sea of disgruntled Crue fans to get in!! The set was short - Five songs (one new one, and Feelgood, Girls, Shout and one I cant remember). Vince's make over was not that dramatic. He's still Vince, with the voice, punching the air, and running all over the place. Tommy Lee is just amazing. His kit sounded HUGE and he didnt miss a beat. It was cool to see Nikki and Mick Mars onstage with them doing the Crue thing. Outfront sound was a little.....lacking, and most people there felt they should have played a couple more - just to make the madness of actually getting in the building worth it!! But fun was had by all. The Whiskey aftershow was a LOT of fun. Tommy DJ'd, and I spent a couple of hours talking to loads of people I hadnt seen in a long while. Thank you Motley.

Today is phone and email day. Just work from home and catch up on all the stuff I've been putting off (and there is a LOT of it!!) How about an end of year chat in the chat room with Doheny? What about Sunday 19th Dec from 6.00pm - 7.00pm West Coast Time? I'll let the other guys know. It was fun last time so lets do it again. I wanna leave you with a thought - What are you going to say to Santa when he comes down your chimney? (Apart from the obvious....'Oi Santa. Get out of my fucking chimney!!) Best answers will win.........oh I dont know. Just give me some funnies!!

Have a great day.

Peace

Billy

mr Tech Head at heart....
if I saw santa coming out of the chimney, I'd give my head a shake, (insert scooby doo head shaking sound effects here) and say to him, buddy you're not even real!(i thought), yet here you are, ....its the miracle of Christmas!....+ I always wanted to know how he shrunk his jolly fat self down to fit into a chimney, so I'd ask that as well.
laydah.

I think I'd be asking Santa why he didn't bring me that pony I wanted when I was eight. I mean really, if HE can fit down the chimney, so can the pony!!

The funniest Christmas joke I've seen so far has Santa at Timmy's house drinking the milk that was left out for him, and reading a note that says: Dear Santa, if you leave a new bike under the tree, I will give you the antidote to the poison I put in the milk. Timmy

Now that's some creative thinkin! (And thanks for the laugh ZenTam)

"Santa, aren't you feeling 'claus'trophobic?"

hohoho...jezzi's cheesy joke du jour!!!

I haven't got a chimney so I'd be asking him where the chimney came from.

After that I'd want to know why he hasn't been bringing my kids presents every year because it's been costing me a fortune. Bastard.

Billy, I would look him in the eyes and say “Look..... I am not trying to player hate here and wreck your night but I asked you for a “Marshall” last year not a bag of “Marsh-mellows” how I am supposed to rock with those things?

TIVO is the greatest thing ever! You will quickly come to wonder how you ever lived without it and you will get addicted to it. You can input your favorite directors, actors, musicians, etc. and the TIVO will record any program/movie that they are on. I definitely love mine.

If Billy has been naughty, does that mean it's spanking time again? :D

You know Father Christmas will be putting coal in your stocking if you're naughty, Billy. Behave yourself. :P

I'd say..."Hey there big fella, how 'bout I show you what to really do with a candy-cane." Then his cheeks would get rosier and I'd get whatever I wanted.

Billy-hey, so, I'm back in town (after a LONG time away), turn on CF to find you & Dave discussing which is the best 'Star Wars' movie. Umm, dorks. Only in L.A.!!!

My love,
Pony

i hafta agree with everyone on the wonders of tivo. i don't have it myself, but my best bud does and i hijack it all the damn time.

hmm. . .i would ask santa for a doheny tour in a town near me. or for tivo.

i have yet to experience the wonders of TiVo, but i just bought a new toy for myself yesterday that i loooove -> iTrip...It's gloooorious (except in my car, in my car the reception is all fuzzy and just plain sucks). no more dealing with cds and my tendency to scratch them! i guess what i would ask for would then be the ability to get Doheny tracks onto my iPod...

Posted by: Natalie at December 8, 2004 06:12 PM

Yes Yes Yes!!!! Doheny traks on ipod. now that's what i'd ask Santa for.....

so billy when can we expect to see a Doneny cd.. I can't wait any longer.....need Doheny music...

Allright...so if Santa Claus came down my chimney I would first scold him for getting soot all over the floor...I'd tell him we're Jewish and don't celebrate Christmas and to head next door...at which point he'd curse himself...I'd say, "Why are you upset?" and he'd say, "Because now I have to haul ass back up the chimney..."

Can I see your Jingle bells?

Posted by: ylais at December 8, 2004 09:17 PM

Father Christmas gets left mince pies, they have brandy in them; and a glass of sherry here. So he gets quite merrie.

Cookies and milk ~ it's all sooooo innocent.

I'm not sure what Authentic TV is, might be a channel that's yet to be released on the Sky broadcasting system.

I'm in shock over the shooting at the Damage Plan gig. RIP Dimebag Darrell, a guitar great.

I'm with you Kim...still in shock!

Posted by: Abby at December 9, 2004 01:20 AM

Shock doesnt cover it I think.. I went to see Velvet Revolver tonight in Orlando, the place was complete mayhem..You kind of take the group madness in stride at rock shows, but to think some maniac could change everything in seconds, makes ya step back a bit.

Posted by: electric mayhem at December 9, 2004 01:26 AM

Definitely. You go to a show anticipating a little danger, but you expect to get out alive & unharmed. Could have been any one of us in that club. Like the Rhode Island fire, it hits too close to home. Senseless & unbelievably sad. RIP.

Posted by: Alchemy at December 9, 2004 06:28 AM

Horrible news about the Damageplan gig. Absolutely horrific. Poor guy goes up onstage moments later his life ends. You hear about accidents that happen at gigs from time to time but cold blooded murder - ONSTAGE no less - is something else. RIP Dimebag.

Posted by: bobbi O at December 9, 2004 07:39 AM

I just don't understand. I do realize we are living in a world with no personal responsiblilty. Where you can blame whatever you want on someone else or the media and whatnot. This guy murdered people because a band broke up. This is pure insanity. I love music, and if the deftones broke up I would be crushed, but I would get over it. I am sure this guy had some sort of mental disorder or a drug problem or something because this just is to terrible to believe.

My prayers are with him.

A total fucking sad day in rock and roll that will be remebered forever. Dime-Bag your are loved and you will be missed, but never forgotten! My heart goes out to the family and fans all over the world. A guitar genious dead by a stupid fucking bullet. I am just in shock!

Dime-Bag RIP!
