SITTING IN THE SUN
So I made it into the desert for a few days. And its gorgeous out here. I went to Best Buy this morning and bought a wireless network hub for our laptops here, so I (of course) have a wireless DSL connection. Trust me to figure out an online situation WHEREVER I go!! I'm sitting on the sunloungers at the golf course, watching them play while I relax with coffee, cigarettes and a computer. I have ten movies on the shelf inside waiting to be watched - (If you havent seen Shaun Of The Dead yet....GO SEE IT NOW!!)
I spoke to Dave this morning who had a great idea to help in the relief for South East Asia. I think we are going to change the show on 27th Jan at The Key Club from being free, to being $10 to get in. That way, we can actually generate some help where it is needed, and the show still remains an open show for all you guys. We just want to try and give something if we can. I'll confirm this soon, but it seems like a good idea. Its still a really cheap show, and Camp Freddy get to play to a 'non-corporate' audience....the REAL people!!
I got some interesting news this morning. It seems I will be beta-testing the new Digital Les Paul for Gibson in January. It can be played as a real Les Paul, or can also be used as an 'individual string' digital guitar. Looks like I will be taking one to the Vegas show, and maybe use it at a Doheny show or two as well. And of course I will give the guitar a workout in the studio when Jon and I start work on these new tunes. Seems like it could be an interesting instrument. More news when I get my grubby little paws on it.
Oh and while I remember - Jezebel.....thats the only pic I recieved!! Thats why I didnt put it up straight away...cos I couldnt find you in the pic! Send me the other one again and I'll get it up!! If you want the kids to stay up there, let me know - I think its cool - we are hitting the pre-teen market already!!
Thats it for now - I think its time for a massage. Its cool to be relaxing finally, but equally as nice that I can stay in touch with the Doheny vibe while I'm here. I read on the main site's message board, that the UK Metal Hammer Interview I did a month or so ago is out. If anyone in the UK fancies sending me a copy of the issue, I would appreciate it. hey billy,
Glad to see you're finally resting and good job on the wireless dsl. ;)
I think changing the CF show to $10 to help out is excellent. I myself made my own small contribution today and I know no one will quibble about $10. As you say it's still cheap but will go a long way to help out where it's needed.
I finally ventured outside today, several days after our big snow storm. Of course my landlord hasn't been in to shovel and the young people who live in the other 2 apts wouldn't even think about it. ;) I miss the older gentlement who lived upstairs last year. He always had a pathway shovelled to both the steps and the laundry room and even out to the road so I could get easily in my cabs in the morning. Ah well, that's life. ;)
Tomorrow is new year's eve so everybody who's going out, play safe and don't drink and drive. ;) We want you all back here next year with us!
hugs,
tina

I'll see if I can get a copy sent your way Billy.
Awesome idea about the $10 show, I think most people would be up for it in light of the tragedy in South East Asia. It's up to 120 thousands people now; that's crazy. It's bad enough that it happened, but especially when a lot of people have gone on holiday there for this time of year. Everyone is affected, and any relief in financial aid is needed.
Not too sure on the digital les paul, really depends on the sound you get out of it and if it gels with Doheny's "LIVE" style :) Be interesting to see what you think anyway.
Take it easy and have a great New Year

OOPS,,,sorry, Billy, what a dunce I am, yes, I completely agree, I love the pic of ALL my cherubs, especially the smiling girl in the middle, and the fact they are showing each other such affection....
Wonderful idea about CF show!!!
Pony, sorry to hear about you and gf, give it a bit of time, peeps are especially emotional around holidays, if it still doesn't sort itself out, remember when a door closes, there usually is another one that opens..
love to you and yours

(stands up and applauds)
Billy, I think it's a GREAT idea for the CF show. I know no one will mind knowing what the money is going towards.
(HUGE SMILE)
THANK YOU! :-)
Now, if I could only find the funds to get myself there... lolol

Billy, hide any golf balls yet??? LOL!
I can just imagine the look on some of the "old-timers" when they round the corner and see Billy laying there kicked back, cold beverage in hand and looking guilty as sin as they search for the missing ball!!
(Linda, its so nice to see your classroom and all the kids. You know your doing them a lot of good...I can tell are a fun teacher to have....I know I always liked the creative ones...tricked me into learning AND having fun at the same time!!! Sneaky sneaky...)
I'm hoping I can still get the time off to go to the show...fingers crossed!!!!
And here ends the 4am ramblings of me =)

WOW, you got the digital Gibson. Are you a purist Billy or are you totally into stuff like this? I think this is a genius invention myself...what people can create with this is going to be off the hook. If i had that guitar i don't think i would ever leave my house - the possibilities would be endless.
