MORNING MEDITATION

NikeselectionFirst of all, I'm glad you all seem to like the movie clips. The Key Club was a great show, and I'm happy that we managed to get a few minutes of video up for you to see. Oh, and the address for Doheny is.....
Doheny
8581 Santa Monica Blvd
#149
LA, CA, 90069
USA

So I woke up a little thoughtful today. I realized that another year has gone by, and it has been a fantastic one at that. But how did it fly by so quickly? It seems like a few weeks ago that Doheny were just starting to play live, and here we are at the end of our first year of gigs. And then I started to think about how I have been concentrating so hard on both bands, that I feel like I am coming up for air - like I've been underwater all year, holding my breath, and I just managed to reach the surface. Now I can breath fresh air and look around. A lot of the past 12 months have been pretty hectic, with my schedule (of my own making) getting crammed with one thing after another. Have I missed the beauty of certain things because I have been blinkered? Have I had my head down so much that the world passed me by? A little dramatic perhaps, but I woke up early this morning and sat on my balcony watching the most amazing sunrise, thinking about these things. I dont have a point to all this - I just felt the need to put it down. Make of it what you will.

ANYWAY.....Eric asked how I was liking the Tivo.....and its AWESOME!! I turned it on last night and it was just full of stuff I never normally get to see - watched a killer documentary on the Tomb Of Imhotep (the guy from the Mummy films). The search for his Tomb in Egypt continues and they took cameras underneath the Pyramids and showed the chambers, tombs, mummies.....very cool.

BIg Up to Jezi and Jay who just keep spreading the International Word Of Doheny. And Amber - the Escort Girls segment of CFR was part of the Xmas Day Special. It'll air at the usual time on Sat 25th Dec. I'll try to get some audio from the show and post it, for those of you who wont be able to tune in.
And Linda - your re-write of Santa, Baby was absolute pure Genius!! Its too long to post here, but everyone needs to know that Linda deserves a well-stuffed stocking this year!!

Spent the day with Jon in our studio yesterday, working on some new Doheny ideas. Its always fun starting new tunes and working it all out. I am sure that we'll be back in Jan with a few great new ideas and some more shows. Today I am going to continue working on what we laid down and see if I can sort it all out into a full song.

Finally, I wanna remind everyone that we are doing another live chat, this coming Sunday 19th December, from 7pm - 8pm Pacific Time. It was a lot of fun last time, so hopefully some of you can join us in there. Thats it from me - there's always room for more artwork or Rogues Gallery pics if you find yourself at work, bored, and looking for something to do!! I couldnt think of anything to put up as a picture and I have been browsing the sneaker sites this morning, so todays pic is a selection of my Nike Dunks.....dunno why I chose that - my mind is elsewhere this morning! Take care everyone and see you soon.

Peace

Billy

I think everyone needs to take a step back from what they're doing every now and again. We can easily submerge ourselves in work, especially if we're passionate about what we do, but in doing so we can often miss out on the little things we used to take for granted (like the beauty of a sunrise). Something to be said for a day of rest after all; time to reflect and appreciate.

Just my take on things :)

My sleeping pattern is so whack right now. I usually go to sleep around 5am, then wake up at 2pm.

I haven't seen a sunset since I was in Las Vegas this summer for the DEFCON convention, and that was definately different.

It's a hard thing to see unless you drive out of the city, and you're out in the desert. But God, it was so amazing. The sky turns this amazing sherbert orangey-pink color.

I also emailed Dave about clips of the Christmas show, because I'm going to be way, way up north, in 3 feet of snow, in a cabin, with my relatives. Should be interesting though.

P.S - You sounded mortally offended when I made the 'stuff my stocking' comment; I thought it was cute :P

Billy,

Who has more shoes, you or your wife?

Just curious...

Aww, thanks Billy - glad you liked my goofy little song. If it made you smile, I'll consider it mission accomplished.

Awww LiNda, I would love to see your genious revamped version of Santa, Baby.
Maybe one of these days you'll share (on one of those rare occasions we end up online together...or you can just sing it to me in the next dream of yours that I appear in...and maybe this time your cell phone will get through to Billy!)
I was just in fact reflecting on some strange dreams I had recently....Does anyone else have as messed up dreams as I do??? I had a dream lately that it was the apocalypse and I was the only one left on earth....Last night I had a dream in which Jim Carrey, Kevin Spacey and Christopher Knight (Brady Bunch) appeared..Chris huddled in what looked like a chicken coop cage...Oh well..weird...and off topic as usual...

Ummm Jules...I think it might be time to reassess whatever you're eating for dinner sweetie...lol

And Billy, don't worry to much about the world passing you by. Life is what you make of it, and from the sounds of it you've had a great year. All of those things that have been keeping you busy ARE life...they aren't the things that are making you "miss life", ya know? Maybe take a little more time to smell the flowers etc, but as long as you're enjoying yourself, it's ALL good.

;-)

Oh I have CRAZY dreams ALL the time...I dream vividly, and I dream often (and i usually remember them!!) I love it, its great to know that my mind is at work at least sometimes (too bad its when I'm sleeping!). Oh well, I find that for me they usually end up having some sort of meaning... "deja vous" is like an everyday occurance for me...If I was smart, I'd write it all down...but I'm not, so its all lost for all time lol ;)

And Billy, I second what heidi (flamingheart) wrote... life isn't passing you buy, maybe you don't notice everything, but it's not passing... you're definitely living the life you've chosen for yourself.

I'm always being accused of not noticing stuff by friends, they're pretty much disgusted with me most of the time. ;)

hugs,
tina

hey billy,

I see that the Sex Pistols did not make it into the R&R Hall of Fame. If any one band has made an impact on music it has to be them. Don't see how they could be bypassed.
