ACOUSTIC BENEFIT

Jon2Hi folks.
Today I am playing at a low-key intimate acoustic event at The Falcon in Hollywood, to benefit Help The Homeless. It will be a short 30 minute set with some friends, we'll do a few covers and I think Jon is coming down to do Dust with me. I'll get some pics, and let you know how it goes - I'm really looking forward to it.

Not a lot to report today - spent the day yesterday fielding phone calls and emails, working on the next Camp Freddy show, and the Dec 2nd TPC/Doheny show. And I cant lie - I spent a good portion of the day in PS2 land, running around San Andreas shooting people!! I also did an interview for Metal Hammer magazine in the UK - should be out in January.

A few questions -
Jay. I think you might have something there. Courtney and Duffy doing Sanctuary? Could be a winner. I'll remember it when we do the next show.

B. I am endorsed by Seymour Duncan pick ups and on every guitar that I use live, I replace the pickups with their Jeff Beck/59 combination. The JB goes in the bridge position and the 59 goes in the neck position. They sound nice and raw without being too hi end/hi gain. And the JB is very smooth sounding. Hope that helps.

Seems everyone likes the new logo -phallic overtones and all!!! Its perfect for tee shirts, badges, artwork. Feel free to mess with it and send me the results. We are trying to give you guys more to work with - new pics will be up early next week from Robert Knight as well. So I think thats it from me - let me dream up a question to ask you all................OK. Ive got it. What is the best pick-up line you have ever heard? What works for you - and what line would you use if you were trying to pick someone up?
Dont know why I thought of it, but I'd like to hear your answers. I'm off - see you later. Check out the cool lights on todays pic of Jon from the Rock N Republic fashion show last week.

Hey Billy!

Thanks for the response regarding the creative stuff aside from music. Good luck with publishing something eventually! I was very excited recently to learn there are companies now who do "on demand" publishing. You send them your book in digital format & they store the files & print the books one by one as they are ordered. No more costly minimums, leftover inventory & storage issues, etc. I would like to use one of these companies to publish a book of my photos one of these days.

Anyhow, have a great show tonight!

Oh, btw, how obsessed are you with your blog at this point? I just started one 2 days ago & I keep going on it - like, constantly - to see if anyone has commented. Will this pass? LOL!

Lines that work on me:

---Coffee? Starbucks? My treat.

---Mmmm you smell good!

---You have great taste in footwear.

---You have the most expressive eyes I've ever seen.

Lines that I would contemplate using:

---Mmmm you smell good.

---Coffee? Starbucks? My treat.

I don't know about the best - pick up lines don't really work on me and I don't use them - but the worst one that I heard was "So.... what church do you go to?", said about midnight in a bar on a Saturday night. I said "Hmmm... I'm in a bar on Saturday night, drinking like a fish.... hmmmm.... I don't think I go to church!"

My typing is atrocious today as well...Oo damn.

Obviously, I mean it's been a while since I saw them live.

(since I was them live? lmao conjures up all sorts of weird images)

Pick up lines? They go right over my head...I never catch on.
I take it like ppl are being friendly, and answer them like it's a real question, and get in dumb conversations.. and sometimeds good ones.
Rude ones, I laugh at, thinking they're joking, and say something rude, or ruder back. I don't hang around much in pick up type places..I just know I was oblivious to the whole pick up line deal.
I never thought, "Oh, they're trying to pick me up."
I didn't see someone, and think, "I am going to pick up that person there"

You know, it's much easier for a girl to pick up a boy than vice-versa....If I see a cute guy, I might go up to him and say, excuse me, is your name......? Of course it isn't and you look ALL disappointed, but then smile sweetly, well then, what is your name,

As far as what works for me, you know I have said before that I am an attention whore, pay attention to me, what I am saying, that's the best way...

BILLY!!! You TEASE!!!! What Camp Freddy gig?I am ready to do whatever it takes, I just want to see CF once before I die....or turn 50, whatever comes first
love to you and yours
jezebel(Are your eyes blue with a hint of green, they are MESMERIZING)

Billy, Thanks for answering my question about the pick-ups. I didn't want to seem repeative with asking you twice. I was only asking again becuase I was looking into the seymour duncan thing, and just thought you changed to a different model of SD pick-ups that's all LOl.
Have a great day.

Back in my chemical days, the lines (no pun intended) I threw out and the lines I through out (again, no pun) were usually one and the same...

Damn the 80's were fun...

Posted by: Jay at November 10, 2004 03:20 PM

No pick-up lines here...I always find it kind of awkward...though i guess the "you smell good" or "you have beautiful eyes" are a good start...thgouh it usually just throws me off!! I'm bad at the whole thing, outright compliments catch me off guard and push me into a corner, and cheesy lines are likely to elicit major attitude. Depending on my mood I either smile awkwardly, but sweetly and say thank you to a comment....or my overly expressive face darts the evil back off look. What can I say, i'm hard to please...but I'm not mean....I promise =)

(back me up Jez...lol)

I couldn't think of any lame pick up techniques for a while because while at college, it seems like most people just skip that part...Anyway, I remember some guy trying to use a stupid card trick to pick me up. It was really lame. I would rather some guy just come up to me and say "Hi, I'm (insert name, for example, Ian Astbury, Billy Duffy, Benicio Del Toro...), what's your name? You seem cool, we should hang out sometime"...I am not into fancy elaborate (yet lame) pick up lines/techniques. I'd rather the person just be straightforward. Another thing that doesn't work was this one guy who liked used to work on the same case as me...He started calling me after he quit the case and started prying into my past relationships and although he's nice, he just wouldn't let up! That's also not a good thing...

ok.. um NO..to the Courtney singing Sanctuary thing.. Good luck and sweet dreams and all to Miss Love but Sanctuary is not to be touched! Only one other man is allowed to sing it and I only tolerate that because it's Mike Peters and I love him. (wife? what wife?) lol

BILLY!!! Have you been lucky enough to meet the dear Abby? Abby! I need you to call Ted a loser again, he has confiscated my DTTAH book, solely because it was autographed for his cousin and not him...HELP

Abby was the first girl I met from 6767, and she has never judged me, or anything,
I love her dearly...as well all of you should

Thanks Jez!! ;)

I really don't think there is such a thing as a "good" pick - up line; however my favourite one as it still makes me cringe when I think about it is:

Him: Your father must have been a theif

Her: Why?

Him: Because he stole the stars from the sky and put them in your eyes!

QUICK...PASS THE SICK BUCKET!
