THE DAY AFTER YESTERDAY

DohenycheckersHi everyone. Hope all the Doheny Family is good out there. Thanks for your emails and posts. Zannebee has been the next entry into the Rogues Gallery - thank you Zann, we are building the family album slowly but surely. And NhMadness did that really cool bit of artwork that Ive used as todays pic.

Last night I went along to see Velvet Revolver play a show in a parking lot in Hollywood. It was a last minute thing - they only decided to do the show the day before - but it was a lot of fun. People were lined up on the rooftops, in the street, everywhere. The police had to close the street due to the thousands of people hanging out watching the show. The sound was a little weird, due to it being outdoors, but the band were in great form, and Scott sang his ass off. What an amazing frontman he is - climbing the PA stacks and hitting every note perfectly. That band is the real deal. I wish them all success on their US tour.

So as you know, we are playing a couple of shows with Orgy this weekend. Friday is at The Vault 350 in Long Beach, and Saturday is The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills. And I am going to give anyone that emails me directly from this blog a guest list place. All you have to do is click the Email Me link on the front page here, and tell me which show you want to go to, your full name, and make sure it comes from one of the email addresses that you have been using here. That way, I know its a Doheny Family member, and I will put you on our guest list for the show. I need to have the email by tomorrow morning - and I will reply to you, to let you know I have recieved it and that you are on the list. I hope some of you guys (in the LA area at least) decide to come.

Today, I am working on the T.Lee recordings during the day, and then I am down at Doheny rehearsal tonight. It'll be a long one, but I am so blessed that I get to play guitar all day. I'm going to need extra Starbucks today! But before I go, lets do another question - the scary movie thing was cool. Reminded me of a ton of great movies. 28 Days Later, Children Of The Corn, Stephen Kings stuff, The Others (that was just fantastic!). Anyway......let me think.......ok, If time travel was invented and they now had a booth (just like those photobooths) in the corner of Sav-On and Rexall, what event or period would you go back to and why? I know that an easy one for me would be to go back to St Martins College in London in 1976 to see the Sex Pistols first show!! But thinking a little more laterally, I think I would want to Ancient Rome, around the time of Caesar, and check out exactly how decadently those cats lived!!

Thats it from me - have a great day, and let me know if you wanna come to one of the Orgy shows. I'll do a diary over the weekend of the events. Until then, take care.
Peace

Billy

Let's see...go back in time...I'd go back and meet Jesus Christ himself, so he could set the record straight. NO, NO, i have a better, more fulfilling, life-altering idea...go back to the mid-80s so i could invest all my $ in a little known company owned by some guy named Bill Gates so that I could live like a filthy, gluttonous sloth. Yeah.

This one is a difficult one. I remember something like this being asked a couple of years ago, and one response was "September 10th 2001, New York City". Would it have made a difference? Who knows ...

1999 Reading Festival to see pitchshifter on the big stage.

28 AD Israel, just to see what this Jesus of Nazereth bloke was actually like before his name was used and abused by the Roman Empire and the Roman Catholic church that formed in it. I think if you look into it he was one of the first communists or humanists if you like ... I can imagine a statement like that going down well in the USA! Ha!

Ha, we had the same picks, must have posted at same time. Ooo-err

Bill and Ted move on over....my turn in the phone booth!!

I would LOVE to go back in time to have some major questions answered. How did they build things like the pyramids, or Stonehenge? To be there and witness something like that, or just to know the answers and the logic behind it would be fascinating. I also wouldn't mind going back to before the last ice age and checking out just how ferocious those guys like T-Rex really were. I'd have to stay in the phone booth though, cos I wouldn't want to get eaten!! LOL

The Bill Gates answer was great...lol...I'd definately be up for that!

hey all,

what a cool question - really gets the brain working lol.

Now as a funny one i'd like to go back to the moment my parents first met.....what exactly did they see in one another!!!

1966 World Cup Final England vs Germany would have been good to witness.

Love all

Holy Crap... I would totally go if I'd known before about the guest list thingie for Friday. As it is, my whole weekend is already booked up, mostly with family stuff.... sheesh, kids can be a pain! :oP But it's really, really cool of you to do that!!!!!

I don't know exactly when I'd like to go back in time to.... I love history, so really, any period of time that is over 50 or so years ago would be fascinating to see. We learn so much about history, but really, without having been there, we don't know what it was really like.

If I were to choose one place and time, I guess I'd choose Ancient Egypt, during the rule of Akhenaton (aka Amenhotep IV). I have always been fascinated with Egyptian art (when I was a kid and my parents took us to museums, I always wanted to see the mummies) and I learned about Akhenaton in an Art History class in college, and I thought he was fascinating. He was married to Nefertiti and his daughter was married to King Tut. Akhenaton completely changed the Egyptian religion, the style of art and the structure of Egyptian society. But as soon as he died, they changed it all back again.

I'd love to see all of the monolithic buildings & sculpture, and the people, living as they did back then.

Hey billy... get some video of the show so us no LA fan can get a taste of a live doheny show. PWEEEZEE!!!!!!

Hey how are the Tommy Lee recordings going. I loved MOM and his newer album. He is a very underated musician. He is famous, but very underated in my opinion as an overall musician. I am anxious to read his new book coming out... When should we expect to see... "Doheny who?" - a year in the life of Billy Morrision. (This is a working title of course)

Much Love from the land where big ass rocks that block my view of the pacific.

hey billy, the guest list is a nice touch, and i'm sure the people who take you up on the offer appreciate it. I know I would if I lived nearby. ;) Also want to say I am a horror-freak, have been since I was a kid and that was a very long time ago. lol

I love history as well and if I could go back in time one of the places and times would be Scotland (which I have a passion for) during the early 1500's. I love british history especially, it's so varied. Would also love to have been around before christianity came into being. My pagan soul would love to see what types of religion people worshipped.

Good luck in your two show's this weekend billy, they'll be great.

I'm off to write a bit in my myspace blog. Had a horrible day at work and I feel the need to vent. ;)

Hey all! I guess if I were to go back in the time machine I would go first and change a few things from my past. Then, I would go back to England in the early '80's to see some of the Cult and Smiths first performances. I would also have Billy Duffy teach me how to play the guitar. I would also want to go back in time to before the there were immigrants moving to America to see how the Native Americans lived. I think I would also try to avert many of the world's tragedies. Then, maybe I would somehow make it so that my family lived in LA and I could see the Doheny and CF shows!!! I hope everyone has fun at the shows this weekend! Maybe some day there will be some shows in Philly!
Well, I better get some sleep, I had some oral surgery and my mouth is hurting...And, I have to trek downtown and maybe make a stop on South Street. Tina~I sort of started Doheny blog appreciation song. I have to work on it--complete with some lyrics (although I can't sing!)

If I could go back.. I would definately say NO when I said yes...
and I would go back about 12 years and dig thru those jeans to find the phone number I accidently washed.

AWE MAN!!! What an offer Billy!!! I really wish I could just blow off everything I have to do....I was really contemplating being a flake, and going to tomorrows show instead of following through with my commitments, but I'll just have to wait for the next one... =(

Posted by: Abby at October 15, 2004 12:50 AM

Julia, I hope the surgery went alright and you're feeling better today.

AND I can't wait to listen to the song and at least read the lyrics. wooo, go julia ;)

Oh, THANK GOD IT'S THE WEEKEND!!!!!

it would be tempting to go back to london in the 60s, but i would have to go back to the late 1700s to be a pirate. have i mentioned that i'm an 8-year-old boy on the inside?

Posted by: acacia at October 15, 2004 05:34 AM

I would like to go back to the late 1800's or early 1900's back to where my great grandparents came from (Germany) and see what it was like, and why they moved over here to the US. I do old photo resoration, and it's very interesting to see old photos and wonder what it was like back then. Then I'd move up in time to the 80's and go see INXS.

Posted by: Karen at October 15, 2004 06:34 AM

I'd like to go back in time to the days when Santa Monica wasn't overrun by homeless, drunk, indigent folks and when the town was a little *less* politically correct and flaming left wing liberal.

I'd also like to go back to see Hollywood during the "Golden Age", the 20s, 30s, when movies were in their infancy and when LA wasn't quite so built up as it is now.

I'd also like to go back to my hometown about 250 years ago and see if I could find any familiar landmarks, see if I could find my way to the plot of land that would eventually become the house I was raised in.

Then finally I'd like to go back to see each of my parents when they were 5, 6, 7 years old to see what their childhoods were like.

Yeah, I guess I would like to see what my parent's lives were like when they were growing up. Especially my Father's as he's no longer with us and I really don't know much about his side of the family.

He did grow up in the Chicago area during the jazz era and he saw a lot of the old greats, live.

Posted by: Zannebee at October 15, 2004 01:21 PM

I'm with Billy on this one, 76-77 for The Pistols and the 11 months of punk rock.
