THE BIG APPLE
Now THAT was a lot of fun. 22 people in one chat room….you guys blew me away. Thank you all so much for making the effort and chatting with us. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. And I hope we cleared up some of the questions, especially about labels, making a record etc. We just want to make the best record we can, and we want to ensure that we have a label that wants to have the band on tour, supporting that record, as much as possible. And all that takes time. Jon, Sean and myself had a blast, and you are a crazy lot…..we’ll do it again next month!!
The Orgy shows were a little weird – confusion with the running order, the onstage times, and the general logistics of the show. But all the bands were cool – Long Beach was hectic for Doheny as we had no soundcheck and no monitors, but Agoura Hills was a way better onstage sound, and I managed to get more than 4 hours sleep the night before, so I actually was able to remember how the songs went!! I played way better the second night, had a lot of fun on the stage with the rest of the band, and cant wait to get to the Roxy on Nov 1st. It’s a Metal Skool night which is always packed, and always a great laugh. We even played Five Miles High, which we stopped playing, for some reason, a while back. STILL no California though – I think we are just lazy with that tune!!
Today, I am off to New York for the Camp Freddy show – (Why do they call it The Big Apple? Why not The Big Peach, or The Big Banana......Someone explain!) - we have a few things going on while we are there, so we fly today, so that we have time to get everything done. I am really looking forward to doing songs with Lou Reed – I took all my drugs to The Velvet Underground’s first album!! I will do the techno-boy thing and post from my phone, in-between all the Starbucks, Nike Store’s and clothes shopping that I intend to do! (By the way NhMadness…..your pic was in a weird format. I couldn’t upload it – maybe send it as a jpg).
Lets just reflect on The Raiders yesterday - we were beaten into submission 31-3. Just painful to watch....What has happened to the team that we had two years ago? A change of head coach, unrest within the team, and a quarterback that a) is injured, and b) just seems to have lost the will to win. Gannon - get back on the field and sort everyone out please. And Rice - ignore what everyone thinks and get on with what you do best. Stop talking transfers and start whipping the rest of them into shape.
OK - football talk over!!
Thats all I got today. Have a great week - I'll check in when I can. If I think of a good question for you all, I'll nip online and post it, cos I love your crazy responses. But right now, I cant think - its too early and I have a lot to do today. Thank you all again for the chat. We will organize another one in November. See you .....
Billy

Lisa, thanks, the chat was great fun and if you can try to catch CFR this weekend, Billy is going to try to get Billy Duffy on as a guest for us. ;) LOL I had to get heidi to ask him about that. You know how shy I am. :)

Thank you so much for the chat last night. It was awesome. Have fun in the big apple. As I said last night I will stand behind the band 100% even if I wait years to hear a full doheny album. You guys deserve the best deal you can get. Do not sell yourself short.
Just one question... most bands just sit around and dream about getting signed. How does it feel for this to be a matter of when, instead of if?
Much love and it was very cool to talk with sean and jon.

"The Big Apple" apparently referred at one time to Adam and Eve and the apple in the garden of Eden (and therefore corruption and sin). However, in the early 1900's, a committee was formed to change the image from negative to positive, so the connotation has since been lost.
Yes, I am chock full of useless information.

Yeah, it was worth getting up just after 4am and re-retiring just before 5 just to pop in and say hi to y'all. I never did really get back to sleep again, except about 7am where I slept for about 30 mins. Oh well, work wasn't too bad :)
Have fun on the east coast

The chat last night was way fun! Thanks to Billy, Jon & Sean for taking the time to answer our questions, and put up with our silliness. Personal highlights -- FH calling J.S. "hon" (lmao), Sean's disappointment in not being able to have "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" on the album, and "Dolce briefs". Plus Heidi remembered to bring the spoon, which made everything that much more official. Can't wait to do it again.
Hey Billy, if you get Duffy on CFR this weekend, I wanna hear him say "Big Banana". Just once. Please?

Damn Raiders..lol They need Chucky back to lead them. They did great under his leadership. And they just need to get rid of Gannon all together. Rice still has some great games in him. He just needs to do what he does best...play the game =)

Funny...I was in the big apple today. I had a pretty good time. Yesterday I won about $300 in the casino (minus the $100 I put in the machine). And I only got carded once. It was funny cause a casino worker thought I was 16 at most...I am sorry I missed the chat. Got to NYC from AC way too late. I can't wait for the next chat, because it just isn't the same without me and Electric Mayhem and it sounds like everyone had a blast. I never got high listening to Velvet Underground...I am sure that would be interesting. We only ever got high to some weird pscyhedelic music (it was insane), gothic stuff my friend listens to like Bella Morte, and to watching tv shows (it didn't even make the Family Guy funny). The worst was being high and watching the movie "Pi"...I don't recommend that...
Anyway...Have fun in NYC Billy!

No, I wouldn't imagine watching "Pi" when high would be any fun at all... it's freaky enough sober. The next worse movie to see high would be "Momento".

Hiya:
Thanks for the CFR info Tina, crossing fingers that Billy Duffy will be a guest.
Karen~thanks for putting the chat transcript up on your site, now I'll be off over there to read it.
Remember when they did the change from positive to negative Big Apple, and had a Big Apple with a worm on it? Anyone? It was in the 80's I think. The Big Apple is rotten thing.
Wait until you hear an English person say "Banana". Years in the USA, and I never got the hang of the American pronunciation. No one knew what I was saying. Especially the women at my school cafeteria, every time I asked for a "Banana" they gave me an orange. My friend went on the radio with me and made fun of the way I said "Banana"...the hilarity just went on and on...Oo
Billy~Have a great time in The Big Banana!
So sorry I missed the chat. :(
Love
Lisa

Hi again~Just read the chat archives. Looked like fun. I think I would have gotten overexcited if I'd been there myself.
Okay, questions now I've read the chat, because in some parts I got lost.
Q's:
Billy Duffy already taped something for CFR?
But Billy Duffy may be in next week to CFR as guest?
Dolce Briefs? Billy what's that all about?
If I give Sean $50 will he make me sing?
OMG, I can't believe I am going to miss TPC and Doheny show in LA in December. But I'm happy that's going to happen.
Cover tunes question again? Who's up for it? What should Doheny cover?
Love
Lisa

Billy.. the Raiders.. who?? THEY SUCK.. LOL. Hopefully Gannon can get over his injury. Chucky has his OWN problems in Tampa.. the team has quit on him. The chat last night was awesome.. since I am somewhat new to this Doheny stuff, I got to keep track of the stuff goings on here too. As I said last in the chat, DRIVE ME ROCKS.. the sound is so AWESOME. I can't wait for the album and a NA Tour including Toronto, Canada. hehe. Nah, I'll be sticking around these part more, cos the vide is soo cool and that's what I like.
Peace and Respect,
Bruce Horne
p.s. I am only joking 'bout the Raidas.. don't need the Nation coming after me.. they'll turn it around.

Lisa - to clear up the Duffy thing...He has already recorded his parts for the CF album...and Billy Mo is going to try and drag him to the mic this Saturday night for CFR at the live broadcast at the Wiltern.
Billy, I think I would DIE laughing if you guys did 'Every Rose Has It's Thorn'...you should do it...just for fun.
And LiNda...in my defense...I CAN'T SPELL! (and come on!...the 'H' and the 'J' are REALLY close together!! LOL)
Posted by: flamingheart at October 19, 2004 07:44 PM
Flamingheart~Thank you for clearing the Duffy questions up.
my head was going in circles for a bit. cool though. hope to hear him live soon on CFR. :D
Posted by: ylais at October 19, 2004 08:28 PM
couldn't spell... yeah.. roight!..lol
So if they do sing Every Rose, who gets to wear the hokey Brett Michaels cowboy hat?
Everyone knows you can't emote properly without the hat.
