RECIPE FOR DISASTER
Imagine the scene - 2000 of the most beautiful, good looking, important, powerful people in Hollywood....NONE of whom would know an electric guitar if it ran over them. A huge movie studio sound stage, outfitted for a very high-profile fashion show. LOTS of people wearing shirts with words like 'Staff' and 'Crew' written on them, running around looking extremely busy (but who cant tell me where a restroom is!!). A dressing room for Doheny that is being shared with 'ultra cool, hip, slick' DJ's, The Crystal Method, who are absolutely bombed out of their minds on Red Bull and Red Wine (and little Red Pills as well by the looks of it!!).
NOT your normal Doheny show!! As we are walking to the stage, we have a huge stand-up, in-your-face argument with the drunk DJ's (something about the fact that we sat on their couch....I'm not sure) that very nearly comes to blows. We are all pulled apart......and then we are onstage!! You can imagine how weird the show felt! But we played well - actually about the tightest we have been - and our friend Josh Todd (from Buck Cherry) jumps up onstage near the end and does the Sex Pistols classic, God Save The Queen with us. And then its over - the van is packed up and driven away, and I jump into my car and drive home. Weird. Bizarre. But fun.....I suppose. Check out the pics I just added in the new gallery, Doheny Pictures 2.
I have to confess to being an idiot - I saved all the questions that I hadn't answered - (including the 50....yes 50.....questions from Karen and all you monkeys), and intended to answer them all this morning. And then I promptly threw the document away!! So I am officially an idiot. Anything you really want to know - just ask again, and I promise I will answer.
Its the weekend - which means Camp Freddy Radio is Live from The Wiltern again tonight. This time we are doing it from Courtney Love's Halloween show. I believe its just Dave and I doing the show, but I know we have a couple of guests coming on tonight. (Fans of the Two Billy's Tour should definately listen in). We are doing the full two hours, so turn on, tune in.....and listen to the consumate professional radio service that we provide.....NOT!!!
Have a great weekend people -
Peace
Billy

hey billy, the show last night sounded ummmm interesting. ;) I think you guys would have whipped the DJ's if they hadn't pulled you apart. LOL

I am staying up for CFR. I am setting an alarm clock just in case.
I bloody keep tuning in late, and f*&@ing missing stuff.
This week I am prepared!
Billy~a very wierd tale there about the fashion show gig. Were those DJs super pretentious?Or was it just the drink? My mind is boggling. Though in some way it's amusing. Along the lines of Victor Meldrew's "I don't believe it!" :S
Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so what are going to be?
We've got some really bizarre stuff on the telly on over here, which is unusual. We don't normally have anything for Halloween. Mostly it's piss takes about ghosts, and hauntings.
I know you answered most of the questions I asked. :D
Catch you later on CFR!
Love to all
Lisa

Oh DAMN! Like Sandy said, the clocks go back an hour at 2am. Oo now my mind is double boggled....
don't they go back an hour in the States as well, but at 2am USA time? ahhhh..my mind....maths..run run...

Billy,
Remember this when encountering the "Pill Popping Jukebox's" otherwise know as DJ's:
Q - What do you call a failed musician?
A - A critic.

Yes, the clocks go back at 2am US time, too. So the show is at our regular time. It should work out that CFR starts at the "second" UK 1am, or when the time changes from 1:59 back to 1:00. At least I THINK that's how it should work! That is, if you UK folks also change the time at 2am. LMAO - maybe I'm the wrong person to volunteer to give advice - since I'm not ever on time for anything!

Jay - that's funny, I also immediately thought of "Pill Popping Jukebox" when I read Billy's story.

Hi Billy, My friend Eric totally loves Crystal Method, I can't stand the dolts and their "X" ness...stupid trance music!!!
Speaking of stupid, here are a few more jezzi questions
1. Why do you prefer colored over black tattoos, do they take longer to do, or to heal, do you have to look harder for talented colorists?
2.Advice for left-handed wanna be guitarists? I just can't get my mind around looking at chord books upside down and backwards, and can find no teachers with patience for me...Steve I. has told me to just push through...though it sounds like fun, just wanted to know your thoughts?
3. What are YOU going to be for Halloween
4. and to all you overtheoceans, I thought that Daylight Savings time was a strictly American thing, I never knew!!!

LOL Jez, I always wndered whether they do it elsewhere....isn't there a zone here in the states where the time doesn't change??
in other news...
Woo Hooo!! Going to Metal Skool on Monday!!! See ya there! ;)

2 billys and a jonesy.. sweet.

Enjoyed CFR tonight. Thank you. Yes, I missed the first 10 minutes. See? I knew it. I am so predictable, I fell asleep, and it's tough to wake me up when I'm out cold. I sleep through alarms, and even turn them off in my sleep. :D
Jez~Lefty guitarist tips..My first guitar teacher wrote out the chords for me that I was focusing on, sideways, so you see finger positions lengthwise (horizontally) as you would along the fret.
He also did them "backwards" for me. So I have been happily going along like that, and used to it. I also added notes like "up" and "down". That's a big confusion for lefties especially.
Guitar books always show them turned vertical, which is odd really.
Then a couple of months ago I got a new guitar teacher that was into rock. :D Yeah! He writes the chords..now barre chords out for me as well with finger positioning horizontally. BUT he does them in a mirror image, not backwards.
And both sat opposite me, and both said lefties are easier to show things to because the lefty can simply mirror them.
The difference is, the new teacher writes stuff down for me in mirror image, because he's had experience with other lefties, and thought about it, and comes prepared.
But now I got used to the backward upside down thing of the first teacher, and my brain naturally clicks into that mode, even seeing the mirror image. So I have to keep reminding myself. I even have it written at the top "MIRROR IMAGE" :D
The woes of being a lefty. oO It makes my head spin. Up. down, left, right, mirrored. No wonder I feel like an airhead sometimes...
it's a lot from living in a right-handed world.
But here's a book I got which is alright~ 'left-handed guitar the complete method" by Troy Setina. I skipped the front stuff.
Because later in the book are riffs, and barre chords, power chords etc. It's a good reference anyway, and makes me feel better for being lefty, being it's by a lefty. :)
There's also a left handed chord book I've seen on amazon.
But I have a notebook, where I transcribe it into what works for me. And refer to that. The books, teacher notes, I rewrite them in my own notebook. :D
And the songs too, for now anyway. :)

Oh yeah~If you are looking at the usual right handed stuff it's really the MIRROR image you need. I got so desperate I was holding things up to the mirror at times! Thank god for my new teacher!
He's got patience too, and open minded. Let's each person learn at own pace, encourages them, shows them how to do what they want to learn.
Man, some of it isn't easy at first, though.
Anyone else have stuff they struggle with still?
Billy~I think one of my questions was:
Did you struggle with anything learning the guitar?
How did you, or do you handle that?
Love
Lisa

Great CFR...we monkeys went crazy in that chat room. It was nice to finally get closer to a Tour of Two Billys. And how was the Halloween show? From the sounds of CFR, it should have been pretty interesting.
