ITS ONLY ROCK N ROLL

Billy_union_jack_jeans2As Jagger once said, "It's only Rock n Roll.....but i LIKE it!!" It was a really nice, quiet weekend, and then come Monday morning, all hell broke loose, the cellphone started ringing off the hook, and things just got really busy again. But I wouldnt have it any other way! I didnt get time to post yesterday (apologies to all) but from your emails and comments, it seems like the chat room is a winner. (Thank you again Karen....sterling effort, go to the top of the class!!!) The next step is to try and get an online chat going while we are doing the radio show. I will be meeting with Indie 103 today and will be talking about how to integrate all the different sites and have a huge online chat with 6767, Doheny etc while we are broadcasting. I'll let you know if we get anywhere.

Yesterdays Doheny rehearsal was great - Sean's new guitar stuff is sounding really good, and Colin is nailing everything and holding it all together nicely. Jon is back tomorrow and I know we are all looking forward to getting back to business proper. Long Beach on friday folks.

Last night, I went to the premier of Team America, World Police, the new movie from the creators of South Park. Oh my God - it is absolutely hilarious. They offend everybody, they get more graphic with puppets than most human actors ever get, and the songs in the movie are just pure genius. All I can say is GO SEE IT. Went to the after party and literally walked in, and straight out the other side and went home. Not my scene at all. Lots of suits discussing marketing strategies for Hollywood Blockbusters over dry martinis and bowls of Japanese rice crackers. I'd rather watch Will And Grace.....which is exactly what I did!!

Which leads me to a quick question for you all. What TV are you watching at the moment? Are you Reality TV friendly? Or is it all about the Discovery Channel? Do you get off with Monster Garage, or is VH-1 on 24 hours a day? Me.....I watch a lot of movies, a lot of sitcoms (old Will And Grace re-runs, Just Shoot Me etc) and I LOVE Cops. I watch open-mouthed, as yet another Mullet-Head tries to out run six Police Cruisers (each with a huge V8, fuel injected motor) in a 1988 Chevy Nova with one flat tyre ......while he's drunk!! That program is pure genius.

Well, its time to get on with my day - I'm really glad that the Chat Room is being used and you are having fun in there. I'll be seeing you in there on Sunday, along with Sean and Jon. We'll come chat with anyone who wants to for an hour or so. For now, have a great day, RIP Christopher Reeve, and see ya tomorrow. By the way - todays pic is of me getting arrested for wearing outrageous jeans in public (made by Keenan Duffty...he's the shit!!) with no shirt on!! Dunno why I picked that picture...must be running out of ideas. More artwork please!!

Peace

Billy

Running out of ideas? No way. That is one of the coolest pics. I laughed when I saw it right away, those Union Jack Jeans stand out a mile. You hooligan! :P

Yeah, Karen, the chat room is excellent, and many thanks for making it mac compatible. It's great chatting with ppl in there.

TV~I'm not watching much regularly. There are shows I watch usually if I catch them. But I am mad on Angel. We're so behind I'm still waiting to see what happened in the last season. So shhh! No spoilers anyone. I'm riveted to it. They leave you cliffhanger so much...waiting for the next one.

Paul O' Grady (Lily Savage) just had his "Eyes Down" sitcom on, which I love. It's hysterically funny. This week he's started a talk show, not as outrageous as the sitcom, because it's on at tea time. But pretty silly.

Johnathan Ross' talk show on Fridays. Great guests, and he comes out with some outrageous statements too.

Just got sky satellite, so I am catching up on stuff like Headbangers Ball. :D
And Kerrang.

Love to all, Lisa xxxx

SCRUBS.

It's hilarious. I also like Monk on USA. Tony Shaloub is awesome.

Other than that, it's mainly CSI and Law & Order (all versions, but I particularly like Vincent D'Onofrio on CI. I don't know why... maybe because he always plays these off the wall characters like Pooh Bear in "The Salton Sea" and the serial killer in "The Cell").

I watch a lot of forensic shows - like New Detectives, Cold Case Files, etc - because I'm morbid like that. I also like City Confidential on A&E and shows about history. So I mainly watch Discovery Channel, the History Channel & A&E.... then they have re-runs of CSI on Spike, and re-runs of Law & Order on USA and TNT.

There's a new show on the Sci-Fi Channel that I haven't yet seen called Proof Positive. It's about the paranormal and looks pretty interesting. I won't get to see it this week either though, because it's on on Wednesday, and I'm going to go see the Presidential Debate on Wednesday in Tempe, AZ. There's a post debate rally and the Foo Fighters will be playing and Kerry will be giving a speech. I'm really excited about that.

I'm such a sheep. I'm on board with 'Lost' and 'Desperate Housewives', as I guess most of America is.

When 'QaF', 'Entourage' and 'The Sopranos' come back, I'll be watching those as well.

And for some odd reason I'm really into those poker shows on The Travel Channel (the professional players) and Bravo (the celebrity players). I hate card games, but find Texas Hold 'Em strangely addictive. To watch. Never to play.

Hey Lisa, want me to tell you how 'Angel' ends??? ;-) Sigh...miss those shows.

Posted by: Holly at October 12, 2004 09:40 AM

I think the last show of Angel is tonight. Then I'll be missing it as well. I'll probably watch the repeats though.

Got some cool news~Marilyn Manson is going to be in "Alice and Wonderland" movie, playing The Queen of Hearts! :D

Now that I really want to see. I'm even excited. :O A movie I want to see is a miracle.

I'm pretty much stuck on the Discovery Channel on monday nights...'Queer Eye' is always good for a laugh...and when it's on, 'Most Extreme Challenge' on Spike...some great writing on that show.

Posted by: spacemonkey at October 12, 2004 10:16 AM

Hmm...well...I don't watch TV. I could very happily live without TV and get my cable disconnected, which I've thought about doing, except then they would raise the price of my cable internet.

Nice pic today, I like the artwork! Isn't that painful to sit through getting a tattoo like that? How long did it take to get that tattoo completed?

Posted by: Karen at October 12, 2004 10:51 AM

I watch a lot of BBC - LOVE me my Ab Fab reruns and very old Young Ones! I do have VH1 Classics running often (I can't get enough 80's videos)...it's almost as bad as COPS (which I agree, once on, can't turn the channel). I just can't get into reality television (I live my own reality...and it's never about living in some grand house or eating balls of some ghastly creature).

I LOVE the pic. Even though I'm a chick, I WANT those pants!!!! I really need them...Billy?

Posted by: Stacy at October 12, 2004 10:57 AM

I don't want as much TV as I used to...I used to find the dumbest shows to watch. I used to watch reruns of the old "Land of the Lost" from the '70's. I also watched "Charles in Charge" because it was so stupid. For a while I was obsessed with "Unsolved Mysteries". Later, I couldn't get enough of "American Justice" and "City Confidential" and almost any show on A&E, including this show called "America's Castles" which featured old mansions and estates across the US. I was (and maybe still am) even a fan of some public access TV. There was this show in Pittsburgh called "Buck the System" on cable access. It had this pseudo-goth host who talked too much and some naked girl dancing on a stump to Rammstein's "Hierate Mich". Next he show clips of various movies including "Strangers from Paradise" which has to be one of the dumbest '80's movies in creation. It tries to be a sci-fi Rocky Horror type musical but it fails...miserably. Then he showed a concert by a band called "Pigface". I remember emailing him and he sent me a pic...wearing, of all things, a Cult t-shirt...I do manage to catch the Surreal Life. It's so funny. That's about it. And Jeopardy cause I want to see Ken Jennings get the crap beat out of him (in the game). I watch Seinfeld once in a while too cause it's hysterical. Nice pic, Billy!!! I hope you got my photo for the gallery!

I spend an awful lot of time watching comedies. Little Britain starts again soon, Early Doors [the Royle Family in a pub] and Malcolm In The Middle is now my all time favorite, but I never get chance to watch it.

Also, really liked good old man behaving badly Martin Clunes in Doc Martin. Who'd have thought ITV could actually make a mid-week comedy drama worth watching in this day and age?

Road Raja was the best celebrity reality show ever, and I'm sure Billy would appreciate that his Hell is realised on Five with the FARM. Vanilla Ice, Paul Daniels and Rebecca Loos [celebrity because she shagged David Beckham?] all mucking out pigs, that is absolute HELL on TV.

Sorry for all the UK-centric stuff.

Julia, your post just reminded me:
I love watching some old children's shows, if i can find them on, like Magic Roundabout, and The Clangers. The Clangers were on for a while on Saturday mornings at 6am, and I got up to watch them. I was that mad when I got back to the UK.
catching up on my childhood...

I love Top of the Pops Two as well, especially The Glam era ones they put on.

What I don't like watching is very sensational stuff (most news shows) nor do I like melodrama. I get too upset, or pissed off if I watch it! Man do I have to bite my tongue when I'm at my grandparents, or other places. Sitting through Cilla Black is a nightmare...O.o

Posted by: ylais at October 12, 2004 12:53 PM

d_wez, I love Malcolm in the Middle. I usually miss it too.
But I caught it today, It was hilarious. Yep, I love Little Britain too.
"I'm a Lady!" Give me comedy over anything.

oh yeah! Lexx, anyone else like Lexx?

Posted by: ylais at October 12, 2004 12:58 PM

I am a huge Alias fanatic. I have seasons 1 and 2 on dvd and I downloaded all of season 3. I can't stand to watch them as a single episode. The endings are just to harsh. The cliff hanger they ended season 3 with was insane. And they aren't starting up again until November.

Thats me..

hey billy, love the picture and the tattoo on your back is stunning. The work and pain that went into that must have been tremendous. Did it get all done in one sitting or did it take several?

I don't watch a lot of tv but when I do it's a lot of british. Love the british comedies like python, abfab and lately coupling. Also love the mysteries like Dazliel (sp) & Pascoe, Midsommer Murders, Poirot, etc. Sorry I don't like Cops lol and also not a football fan here. I'm a good Canadian girl, give me hockey. GO LEAFS!! though this year looks like it'll be hockeyless :( I also like a couple of canadian comedies, This Hour has 22 Minutes and Monday Report, both are hilarious, any canadian people here back me up on that. LOL

Very much looking forward to the chat sunday night, see you all there. ;)

the only actual show i watch regularly is 'nip/tuck', trash tv at its finest! and i've been catching up on my bbc miniseries lately, specifically the napoleanic era stuff like 'sharpe' and 'hornblower'. other than that, i'm totally a sucker for random documentaries on discovery and a&e. . .and 'mythbusters' is a damn fine program, too.

Hello, my name is Linda, and I'm a Joss Whedon addict. If there's a Buffy or Angel episode on, I'm watching it. Even though I own the DVD's and have seen every episode dozens of times. I watch so often my 7 yr old can recite dialog, and my husband, who has never actually sat down to watch an entire show knows all the characters and the basic storylines of most of the episodes. Now if only they'd show Firefly in reruns! Oh well, I'm waiting patiently for the movie.

Ok, there are other shows I like - most on HBO. The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Carnivale, Deadwood, and Entourage - havent' missed an episode. And hubby's a diehard fan of The Wire, so I watch that with him, sometimes.

I'm also liking what I see so far on Lost, and thank God for that, because right know it's the only show that I like that's got new episodes.

Posted by: Linda at October 12, 2004 04:57 PM

How I could I forget my favorites!!! Six Feet Under, Sex and the City, and of course, Nip/Tuck!!! So, Acacia, and anyone else who watches it, any guesses as to who is the guy in the Mardi Gras mask????

Posted by: Julia at October 12, 2004 05:10 PM

god, i totally bought the adrian-is-the-killer thing! now my only guess is what's his face - that other plastic surgeon who did the back room botox. honestly, it could be anyone. that show is INSANE.

i forgot to mention how much i adore QAF, too.

Posted by: acacia at October 12, 2004 05:51 PM

Cartoons a plenty..

Family Guy, King Of The Hill..new episodes of South Park in a week or so...

PS. Am I the only dude around here besides Billy?

Seeing as we're doing birthday shout-outs...

Happy Birthday to Electric Mayhem!

I think I must have an addiction to TV. I'm watching all the new stuff that's on there. Hooked on Lost, Desperate Housewives and Nip/Tuck. (I knew Adrian wasn't the Carver, but I thought the knife would be for Ava, not himself!) Also hopelessly hooked on junk like Survivor and The Apprentice. Some nights it's like a train wreck, but I just can't stop watching. As far as reality shows go, The Amazing Race is incredible. I never miss one of those. My two favorite shows of all time were The X-Files and Sex and the City. I'm stuck with re-runs for those now.

After watching all that TV, where the heck do I find the time to sit in front of my computer? Amazingly, I can still sit here for hours...lolol

Posted by: flamingheart at October 12, 2004 06:30 PM

hey all,

all i watch is "the office", it is painfully hilarious!

If you haven't checked it out yet .... i STRONGLY recommend that you do so!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELECTRIC MAYHEM!!!! Why didn't you tell me it was your birthday?! It's not like we don't talk enough!!! Hope you had a great birthday (and hurricane-less!) Love you!

Also--forgot to mention one of my favorite shows of all time--The Golden Girls...(okay, I know I am going to get killed for that one..)

Posted by: Julia at October 12, 2004 07:04 PM

I can't stand reality TV. I live in reality, I don't want to watch it on TV. Its mostly just people degrading themselves for money/fame. And that's just sad. But I'm hooked on regular tv..lol I love Nip/Tuck, Dead Like Me, That 70's Show, COPS, Cold Case Files on A&E, VH1, Random Moives, and Home Improvent/Decorating shows. Shit, there's really to many too list..lol OH, and documentaries! I'm a TLC, Discovery Channel, History Channel, PBS junkie..lol

Happy birthday Electric Mayhem (Waldo says happy b'day too).

TV for us is reruns of old sitcoms. Seem to spend too much time on the internet to catch new shows.

Love the photo. I just got two new Keenan Duffty shirts in the mail :)

Posted by: Louise at October 12, 2004 07:50 PM

There are a lot of Libra babies here. ;-) Mine was last week, on the 6th.

Posted by: Karen at October 12, 2004 07:57 PM

Jay, I think Spacemonkey is a dude... but I could be wrong. I've been known to make the occasional mistake. OCCASIONAL.

Julia’s entry about the show called "Buck the System" reminded me of back in the day, when I was in college, and the only television set I had was a black & white 5”. I kid you not. No cable either. The only show that was on Sunday nights after 10 pm at that time was called “Fight Back! With David Horowitz”, a consumer awareness / protection show. My best friend John and I would down a few beers and watch David Horowitz while yelling at the television, “You go get ‘em David!”

Those were the days.

Posted by: Suzanne at October 12, 2004 10:28 PM

Oh and I forgot Mad TV.

And I'm a sucker for period pieces, like every single Jane Austen Movie, The Mayor of Casterbridge, that sort of thing.

Posted by: Suzanne at October 12, 2004 10:31 PM

awe..thanks for the shouts guys..and Happy Birthday to Lisa..
as for the tv show question..
My tv is mostly on whatever music channel is playing what I like at the moment. I am a horrible channel surfer.. clicky clicky click..drives everyone else in the house batty.
I loved Entourage also.. altho for a show that considers itself uber hip.. they really should have filmed the cast at a Camp Freddy show ;)

and oh yeah.. am addicted to that train wreck known as The Surreal World..

Posted by: electric mayhem at October 12, 2004 11:30 PM

oh yeah.. and American Choppers...love that freakin' show!

Posted by: electric mayhem at October 13, 2004 12:15 AM

The Simpsons...If I don't watch anything else all day, I usually catch at least one episode of the Simpsons...
