WEB VOODOO
Well it seems that people like the video. I have had a bunch of emails since yesterday - thank you all very much. It was my first real project with Final Cut Pro - I enjoy editing and I will definately get involved when Doheny make a 'real' video. Big Up to White Pony who didn't seem to sleep for a week while he compressed the file!! If you haven't seen it yet, cut and paste this into a browser window -
www.whitepony.net/dohenyvid.php
I have been thinking about this blog and how I can build the community here. Any and all suggestions welcome. I started it without thinking too much - just wanted to see how it all worked. And I love it now - its part of my morning ritual (along with drinking chickens blood and dancing naked around a pile of bones!) So I was wondering if it is accessible enough? I know we have it linked to the main sites' Community page, along with the message board and the My Space link. How else can we spread the word? Oh, and by the way - check out the pic I found of Sean, defying gravity! Looks like he's about to fall over.
And finally, I need some movie reviews.........what movie do I need to go and see this weekend? As an extension of what Dave and I were talking about on the radio last week, give me some ideas. What have you seen recently that excited you - Hero? Open Water? Without A Paddle?
Thats it from me - too much typing, not enough caffeine. I am outta here....

Hi Billy~If I had known you had a weblog, I would have been on here sooner!
Been listening to you on the air, hey I listened even when Dave wasn't there a couple of weeks ago. :D I'm one of those Panic Agents.
It's great being able to read what you have to say, and I just joined the message board too. Been watching the video, and it's great. I posted some comments all over the place now, 6767, whitepony's site, doheny's message board.
Love the music too.
I mentioned this on 6767 a while back, it's one of those 'blast from the past' things. I used to have a radio show back in 85/86 at college in PA. I am English though. I played "She Sells Sanctuary" at the beginning of each show! it was like my theme song! The radio show amazingly got pretty popular out there in PA, we had a fairly wide audience.
Good to see you on here, and I'll be tuning into Camp Freddy! :
Love
Lisa

I think "Shaun Of The Dead" gets it's USA release this week (16th Sept I think), so deffinately go watch that ... it's fantastic!
Hero looks immense too, I'll likely see that in the coming weeks.
I think the weblog is fairly accesable. The only immediate things you can do is having direct links on the messageboard itself, aswell as the main site ... and putting a direct link to the messageboards here. Just helps tie things together a bit more.
I know with livejournal.com people find other journals based on similar interests (much like MySpace), so perhaps if you rummage around your typepad account settings you can "Connect with others who share your interests" if you haven't already done so :)
All the best

First of all, I think I am addicted to this blog as I feel obliged to check it every day. Maybe Karen can put a link of this blog on the Cultweb. Or I can post it there if you like. And I don't know about the movies of this past summer--most of them seem pretty dumb. If you are going to rent anything I suggest "Dead Man"--excellent Johnny Depp film (and got to love the William Blake references). I read that this movie called "Mean Creek" is really good (but of course it is only playing at the indie movie theatres downtown). I heard Garden State was pretty good too...Too bad there aren't any Benicio Del Toro flicks out--cause you can't go wrong with him. Again, love the video!

Billy, I think it would be good to have a link to the main Doheny site on the Blog.
Julia - I added a link to this Blog and the Doheny site on the Links page from within the The Cult Web Forum. I'll also add it to the main page.
Here's another new site:

i saw hero last weekend, and hotdamn is it ever pretty. i believe it was the first movie made in hong kong after britain's lease ran out, so the script had to've been approved by the government. and i think it's actually a bit of communist propaganda. heavily veiled communist propaganda, but propaganda nonetheless. though i may be talking out of my ass on this one, so don't quote me on it.

I liked Garden State. And Napoleon Dynamite is quirky fun.
I also saw "What the Bleep", which was pretty interesting, but not typical... more philosophy than movie.

Billy,
Was wondering about your time in 'Into A Circle". How did it come about, experiences, thoughts, whatever you can recall would be cool.
Thanks,
Jay
PS. Napolean Dynamite for sure..

Hey Jules...I think we have a sickness...
Billy says that writing this blog is part of his morning ritual. Reading it is part of mine. Imagine the sadness when I stagger in here and find he hasn't updated it! LOL
Billy - As for spreading the word and building the community here...I have the sense that it's already gaining quite a bit of momentum. I know quite a few of us are already out there spreading the word on other sites and to our friends. I think now it's just a matter of time.
It's all happening.

I must admit I haven't been sleeping much but the video is only part of it.
Billy I will look at finding places to post some info on Doheny, my first suggestion is to post on other band's message boards... they are usually most active around releases of albums so right now any Chevelle boards you can find might be worthwhile. There is my 2 cents for the day.

Just had to say--Heidi, I am hopelessly addicted to this blog and try to check around the time it might be updated..and of course, when it isn't, I to feel that pang of disappointment...Also--Karen, that Billy Morrison fan site is awesome! What a great job! You just plain rule.

So this is where all the cool kids are hanging out now -- Jules, FH, EleMay, Karen -- Count me in!
Billy - your willingness (I didn't just make up a word again, did I?) to communicate and be open with the rest of us has earned you a loyal (and ever growing) following. I think you just have to keep being you and keep doing what you're doing.
Thanks
Linda

Hey all, I'm another hopelessly addicted person who just has to check in here everyday to read up on what's happening. I too have told all my friends they have got to check out doheny and do post where I can. I do agree with Linda, just keep being yourself and what you're doing, you and the band are great. ;)

Ok, its not a recently released movie, but it is one of my all-time favorites. "Baraka" -- if you have never seen it, I would highly recommend it. There is no real 'plot', only music and some of the most visually stunning imagery.
Definitely an inspiration that something need not be 'traditional' to be amazing.
