BROKEN!
Oh well - it lasted a day!!! The video isnt working right now - but I know that WP was away and feel sure that he will sort it out on his return. Appears that the download bandwidth was exceeded - which means lots of people wanted to see it - thats cool. Karen has already asked me if she can put it up on her site, and of course I welcome that. If WP's site has download limitations, we might move it elsewhere. If we do that, I can change the URL's and it'll still be viewable here, and on the main site, so just bear with us while we figure it out.
But a huge THANK YOU to everyone who posted yesterday, and who sent me emails. The movie review thing was great - I now know that I will DEFINATELY go and see Shaun Of The Dead this weekend. And it seems that everyone is enjoying Hero, so thats on the list as well.
I am in the studio all day today, working on the new Doheny songs. Jon is working on lyrics and melody, and I am going to rough out the music that we have been working on in the rehearsal room. We'll post a clip once we have demo's done. Oh, and by the way, today's picture is from about three years ago - a seminal moment for me. In case you were born under a rock, or dont understand your music history 101, that is Alice Cooper. Go and google him, download everything you can find, and learn about rock music!
Kim - good suggestion. I'll link the blog to the message board and vice versa. But it seems most people are happy with how it all works, and just told me to be patient and keep doing what we do!! Patience was never one of my stronger assets!!
Julia - LOVE Benicio movies!! Just watched The Hunted last night.
Suzanne - I think Garden State is on my list as well.
Jay - Dude, where do you find this stuff out!! I'm impressed!! Into A Circle was a band I was in when I was a lot younger - with a guy from Dance Society, and the bass player from Southern Death Cult (which later became The Cult - weird, huh?). We took a lot of drugs, toured the UK, and made a couple of records. I left (to take even more drugs!) and the rest of them made one album. I have no idea what Bee and Barry are doing now.
Everyone else - a big Thank You for your support and encouragement. It means a lot to Doheny.
So todays game is this - If you could ONLY take one CD onto a desert island, what would it be? No tapes, no mix CD's - you have one record that you can listen to until you are rescued!! Let me think about mine (as if I need to think about it!) and let me hear what you would take.
Have a great day and see y'all tomorrow
Billy

Desert island, eh? Hmmmmm.... Is it a tropical island with bananas on it? Just who is doing the rescuing? :-P (oh wait, that sounds bad!!)
As for the cd...it has be something by The Cult. If I was to be stuck there RIGHT NOW, I'd have to say BG&E...
Right, this monkey is off to work (bleh)
Laters,

I might have to see Hero... although I'm afraid it will be cheesier than Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which I liked a lot. I'll have to see it to know though I guess. Sky Captain looks like fun, but again, the cheeseball factor concerns me. The idea of bringing a comic to life is always fun. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
As far as one CD to bring to a deserted Island... man, that is hard. I guess I'd have to pick 311, Grassroots. Not so much because it's the best album ever, but because it's so happy and pleasant... I'd need that if I was stuck on a deserted island. That album always makes me want to drink beer because the year it came out, I discovered Sierra Nevada's Summerfest, and I drank a lot of it while listening to that album!
Oh, and as an aside, I live in the Phoenix area, where Alice Cooper lives. I saw him at the mall once, looking at puppies in a pet store. True story!

My CD pick would be, off the top of my head, "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. Starts of really chilled, and the guitar work alone in the first part of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is simply heavenly and it is easily a CD I could have playing subtly in the background on a desert island. I could just lose myself and track of time with this CD, it wouldn't matter how long it took for me to be rescued.
If you haven't experienced this album you haven't experienced music!
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
1 Shine On You Crazy Diamond (part one)
2 Welcome To The Machine
3 Have A Cigar
4 Wish You Were Here
5 Shine On You Crazy Diamond (part two)

I love Pink Floyd, but listening to it makes me want to kill myself. I'd be looking for the tallest tree on the island to jump off of... :oD

Sorry to post again, but I just wanted to mention, if you want to hear something freaky, listen to side two of Meddle... oh crap, I'm dating myself... I guess if it were on CD you'd refer to it as "Echoes".

Right now I could get away with picking a CD single of Watching It All Burn. I have had that song stuck in my head 24hrs. a day for the past week or so. Seriously, I go to bed singing that song in my head, I wake up in the mornings and that song is in my head. And, as I'm sitting in class listening to the instructor lecture, that song is going through my head. I can't even concentrate on the lecture. ;-)
Take care,
Karen

Yay! After a long day of work I get my Billy blog fix! And a question to answer!! What more could I ask for? I had to sit here and think for a while of what CD I would bring and went through the pros and cons of each--wouldn't want to bring something too depressing or dark, so that rules out the Smiths, The Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, and definitely The Manic Street Preachers. And although it was tough to decide not to the the Cult's Love album, I think I would have to take with me Queen's "Live Killer" album. It has to be one of the best concert albums ever and it just has everything, including some of Brian May's most amazing guitar work--probably some of the best guitar work bar none. I still wonder how Brian can make his guitar make two sounds at once without any mixing. Of course, if I end up finding some "special" mushrooms on the island, it would be nice to have the Love album...

Desert Island disc/CD would be 'Quadrophenia'. Nicely atmospheric. Some kickass drum and bass beats. Yeah, that would be the one.

Okay, I know I'm weird and when you hear what CD I would take to deserted island will not change anyone's mind. LOL Firstly, love Doheny but they don't have a CD YET, and am a huge Cult fan, but if I can only have one CD to listen to day in and day out, it would have to be Dive by Sarah Brightman. :b I know I know.
And karen, I'm almost as bad as you. For the past few days I've been humming Drive Me, and sometimes without even knowing I'm doing it. Caught myself humming it while on hold today on the phone. LOL *sigh* I need a life. :)

Hmmmm.....Have to think about that one...I hope we get to bring something to play it on, it would be just oh so depressing to have this little disc that you know somehow contains music, but have no way to get it out!
Posted by: Abby at September 16, 2004 03:58 PM
LOL Abbey, good thinking never thought if there would be a player on the island. ;)

i have only heard fabulous things about shaun of the dead and it absolutely looks like must-see material.
my desert island album would have to be either soundgarden's 'superunknown' or adam ant's 'friend or foe,' though that camp freddy album would be nice. wink wink.

'One From The Vault' - The Grateful Dead
First song is "Help On The Way" (for a little encouragement), plus if the island is truly deserted, no one would see me dancing like a fool, AND I could listen to one disc while using the other like a mirror to signal for help.
Posted by: linda at September 16, 2004 05:37 PM
LMFAO...I think Dr. Pepper just came out of my nose...
Linda, I can just see you dancing like a crazy woman while waving that "signal disc" around...
Too funny.

If I were stranded today, my choice would be Coloursound. Great choice on The Dead Linda, haven't heard that one in eons. But this all wouldn't matter anyway. I would make a coconut radio like the professor on Gilligan's Island, and then set the station to Indie 103. :)

If you want to read about the time I 'met' Alice Cooper check here -
http://63.99.109.37/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002260.html
He's been doing some adverts for SKY+ with Ronnie Corbett here in the UK. I'm sure Billy will appreciate the insanity of that statement.
My CD is Bootlegged, Distorted, Remixed and Uploaded by Pitchshifter. Its a double CD so if that does count I'd have just the Live one "Bootlegged, Distorted,".
Pitchshifter were always best live and this covers the vast majority of their standout tracks, with all the between song banter not to mention Marks proposal. I cried the first time I heard it, not because of the proposal. Just that it was the last time I'd be hearing them. I was obviously wrong...

D Wez, the time I saw Alice Cooper at the mall looking at puppies, he wasn't wearing any makeup. He had his hair stuffed up in a hat and just looked like anyone else. Pretty normal really. My Dad met him golfing once too and said the same thing.
