BACK TO BUSINESS

PurpledohenyWow. That was a crazy weekend. Friday was the rehearsal – everything went smoothly and the set sounded great. Saturday was completely off the hook – a lot of fun. To have all of those people on the same stage, AND to be able to play with them just amazes me every time. I am so blessed to be able to share the stage with so many talented and creative artists. Like I said, more details will be up on the Camp Freddy site in the next day or so. Staying in the hotel in Disneyland, however, was a BIG mistake. Finally got to sleep around 3.00am and at 7.00am in the morning, there were armies of young kids running up and down the hallways, obviously very excited to have breakfast with Mickey and Donald. That was my cue to get out of there, and we got back to LA as fast as we could!!

Yesterday was a GOOD day!! Oakland HAMMERED Tampa Bay 30-20. We played well until the 4th quarter, and I was screaming at the TV by the end of the game!! Congrats to Tim Brown (now in a TB uniform) for 100 TD’s. Next week we play the Texans. And as Jon is going away to the UK for the ‘Shifter dates, I made him an instrumental CD of one of the new Doheny tracks that needs lyrics. Kinda handy really – he goes away, slaves over some deep and meaningful poetry, and the next time we see him, he’ll walk in, sing the song and it’ll be great. (Well, that’s the plan, anyway!!)

I cannot wait to move into October – Doheny have the two Orgy dates, and the LA Roxy show at the end of the month (not to mention the CF shows). I love playing our songs live, and it seems like forever since we did a show. I’m hoping we can get a few more gigs booked before the end of the year. I think there might be a rather ‘special’ Xmas show happening – more details very soon.

Holly – I’m sorry the VF show isn’t on a Saturday. We had no say in the date. But I’m glad you’re coming. You wont be disappointed!
Sandy B – Bromley, huh? Its probably changed since I was last there!! The name Doheny comes from the street I live on in LA. Jon and I wrote and demoed all the songs in my studio there.
Angelina – I give you my word that these feet are always firmly planted, no matter what happens. I will always do my best to remain interactive with everyone.
Linda – I don’t have the details yet, but I believe CF will be in another city on your birthday…..Sorry! BUT – remind me nearer the time and we can have a celebration on the Blog. That’s a good idea – a Birthdays List for all you guys on this Blog, so we can be continually celebrating!!!!
Flaming Heart/Kim/Acacia/Mayhem/Tina - Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. Everyone on this blog gives me the energy to keep it all going. You are all part of the Doheny Family.

And finally (Ylais-this one’s just for you!)…… another game. I love the responses!!
So…..I’ve had one eye on the new series of The Surreal Life because I spent a lot of 2003 writing and recording songs for Ryan Starr (check out I-Tunes – the new song from Ryan called My Religion is one of mine. I actually play all the guitars on it as well). What would be your ultimate cast for The Surreal Life? Six people – 3 guys, three girls. Get your thinking caps on and give me a laugh!!

That’s it from me –

Billy

Ryan Star huh? Guess you gotta pay the bills 'til the 'Heny go global. What other session work should we be aprised of?

Surreal Life Jay style:

Ace - Sorums flavor of the month. She's an Oklahoman like myself, so a little hometown love would fit in nicely. (Plus that, I've think I've seen her in a few exotic ballet establishments around town.)

Buckethead - He's a goofy bastard with the whole disembodied schtick goin on, ought to interesting.

Bill Clinton - Watching him hit on Ace would be priceless. Enough said.

Mike Tyson - Imagine him biting the heads off Bucketheads chickens, need I say more?

Quentin Tarantino - He's the "Surreal Life" in and of himself.

Courtney Love - A "clean" Courtney could be the voice of reason in this bunch. Courtney leading by example, a mother figure if you will. Now that's fucking surreal..

That's funny Billy that you mentioned today about where you got the band name, because yesterday I was at Doheny state beach and I had a little laugh to myself ;)

Posted by: Abby at September 27, 2004 01:30 PM

Lmao, just for me, and I had to look up "The Surreal Life" in a search engine. I got what that it must be one of those Celebrity Big Brother type events though.
Difficult question, Hollywood and American Politics are so surreal anyway, it seems that way when you see clips on tv.
I see Charo has been on. I had a good laugh at that.
Brigette N. too, whoa, judging from seeing her in interviews, she's going to make people's heads spin.

Okay, putting my thinking cap on. Love Lisa xxxx

hey billy, let's see, the 5 people (yes 5 because "I" would be one of the surreal's in my own little warped world) I would have with me would be (as of today, ask me next week and everything would be different):

- Lee Aaron, canadian jazz singer who use to sing heavy rock in the 80's and 90's, she's one of my favourite singers, turned to jazz in 2000.

- Jenny Gear, she's the lead singer of the Whiskey Kittens (isn't that a great name for a band). They're first CD was released last week and I just got it in the mail today. She's from Newfoundland so she'd bring the "screech" with her. ;)

- Billy Duffy... who else, come on now, you know me by now. I need say no more. rofl

- Rick Mercer, I find him the funniest person around today, love his sense of humour (another Canadian).

- and last, the ghost of Peter Gzowski (yes another Canadian), I need someone intellectual to talk with, even if its a ghost.

So let's hear it for the all all canadian (except for Duffy) surreal life according to me. ;)

tina

Grace Jones~She's wild. She'll tell everyone where to go, and probably end up punching someone out.
Ali G~To take the piss, and then probably get hit.
Pam Andersen~For someone to have a go at.
Bob Geldof~To bore everyone with his politics, and get pissed off at everyone and tell them.
(I was going to choose John Lydon, but he was already on a reality show here, and brilliant on it, so I've subbed Bob to stand in)
John Lydon~I gave in, I couldn't think of anyone better to watch on tv. Started wondering if Johnny and Bobby would get in a huge Irish-style argument too.
Tipper Gore~let the fight begin....

Posted by: ylais at September 27, 2004 02:51 PM

hey all,

billy bromley looks the same old same old!

as being in london had no clue what "the surreal life" was but looked it up ...

A reality show about fading celebrities who were hot back in the day, and how they live their day to day lives in one Los Angeles mansion.

God, what a tiring day at work. I am always the one who cleans up after the people who made mistakes. That said, it was so nice to sit back, relax and read this blog. I have two jobs before I go to grad school (hopefully) in January. One goes by very fast and the other seems like an eternity. So when I get home and read this blog and hear about all the music, the writing process, not to mention the fun, it really makes me feel a part of something special. Okay, enough corniness from me. Oh--and I think I would have been one of the few children scared to death of the people in Mickey or Donald costumes. I am scared of people in those costumes, clowns, and mimes.
And about the Surreal Life, I am hopelessly hooked onto that show. Ryan seems pretty cool. At least she's not hooking up with Jordan Knight, that guy is a prissy ass!
And LiNda--when is your birthday???
If we are starting a birthday list, mine is January 19, 1982. Same date as Edgar Allan Poe and Janis Joplin. I didn't know that until after I had been writing poetry for years and way after my one piano teacher said I looked like Janis but prettier...weird...

Posted by: Julia at September 27, 2004 03:21 PM

hmmm....We gotta get Martha Stewert in there too somehow!! THAT would be the ultimate! (and anyone remember Puck from the Real world)...Maybe I should just do my own!!

1.Martha Stewert
2.Puck (from the Real World)
3.Shannon Doherty
4.Jaleel White (Steve Erkel)
5.Andrea Barber (Kimmi Gibbler..."Full House")
6.Danny DeVito

The show seems to put in it people who used to be household names (or at least faces) and when you first see the show you think "where did I see that person before??" Ok, so Martha doesn't exactly fall into that category, but I think that she is necessary! LOL

OK Billy...make it happen...lol

I don't enjoy "reality" tv. Both psychology and quantum physics theorize that the act of observing someone or something actually has an effect on what's being observed - I wholeheartedly believe that. I can't help thinking that those people are all doing what they're doing and saying what they're saying because they know someone's watching. And then I hate them because even though they know they're being watched, they still act like idiots. So I can't really think of 6 people that I'd like to put together in a house & watch what happens. I can only think of 2. But I'm keeping that to myself.

Anyway...
Jules, my birthday is February 20.

Posted by: Linda at September 27, 2004 04:03 PM

man. good question. i've totally been idolizing charo on the surreal life this season, and i adored tammy faye last season. after giving it some thought, i could only come up with three people i'd definately like to see in a house together - sandra bernhard, johnathan taylor thomas, and bruce dickinson. maybe lita ford or ted danson could join the fun. and i love the idea of grace jones!

btw, you can add january 6th to the birthday calendar, too. :D

Posted by: acacia at September 27, 2004 04:48 PM

As long as we're doing birthdays, I'm a year drunker this Friday, Oct. 1.

Libra all the way, call me Even Steven.

Can I get a Doheny style shout out Billy?

Posted by: Jay at September 27, 2004 06:04 PM

Only 2, eh LiNda? They don't need to be locked in a house, they need to be locked in a recording studio....

My six people locked in a house...
1. Sebastian Bach
2. Ashton Kutcher
3. Bruce Willis (I want to see how cool they REALLY are over the Demi-situation)
4. Liza Minelli
5. Pamela des Barres
6. Courtney Love

Not a lot of reasoning behind my choices, other than the fact that I think it would be a total gong-show. I had to agree with Jay on Courtney. She was the first person who sprang to mind for me. Actually Billy, do you think you can just round up all of Jay's picks and pitch it to MTV? I think he's on to something there.

If we're talking birthdays, mine is Oct 24/74. Yes, if you do the math, it's a big one for me this year. Don't talk about it, I'm in denial.

Posted by: flamingheart at September 27, 2004 07:15 PM

Oh my GOD! I was so tired from work I didn't realize I had a homework assignment!!! Just getting it in under the wire...
Okay..let's see, my choices for Surreal Life cast members...
1) David Lynch--I can't imagine how he must be judging by his movies...
2) Macaulay Culkin, because I think they always have to have a former child star.
3) Toss up--Either Scott Baio or Willie Aames from Charles in Charge. I bet Scott is a real prick and Willie sadly went on to become "Bible Man"..nuff said.
4) Sharon Osbourne--she can just boss everyone around
5) Kathy Coleman who played Holly on the 1970's version of "The Land of the Lost"--because that was the most entertainingly dumb show ever...gotta love the cheap claymation.
6) and finally....I think RuPaul...I guess he could could for either the male or female category..but since he dresses as a female most of the time, I figure that might be more appropriate since he probably wears more makeup and has bigger boobs than most women.

5)

Posted by: Julia at September 27, 2004 07:18 PM

LOL...RuPaul!!!! Brilliant!!!

Posted by: Abby at September 27, 2004 07:42 PM

Heidi - Asters was NOT one of the two, but that's a good thought. You are the eternal optimist.

Julia - lmao - Charles in Charge and Land of the Lost? too funny. Girl, you were born in the wrong decade.

And Abby - Kimmi from Full House. Classic!

Posted by: Linda at September 27, 2004 08:33 PM

Pony, are you coming out as a Paris Hilton fan? :D I'll do my very best to keep that quiet. I will.
You guys sticking yourselves in that's not fair (Libra talk here)
you can't do that. That's the answer for this question:
Who would you like to be stuck in a house/stuck on an island/stuck onto/ stuck up?

Found out I have the same birthday as Sammy Hagar, who's having his party down at his Cabo Wabo Club, or is it Wabo Cabo..o.O and Chad Smith among others will be there.
Wonder if my invite got lost in the mail? :P

Billy~There's an outbreak of Camp Freddy madness going on over at 6767.com! :O
