BILLY THE BUSY BEE!!

Hi everyone. I have been very busy the last few days - Doheny rehearsals, working on the new songs with Jon, getting ready for the Camp Freddy NASCAR weekend. So I havent had time to post here. I think after the weekend, I'll have a bit more peace in my world.

Karen and WhitePony - You guys are ACE. I will definately take advantage of the webspace and I will get someone who knows how to do it, to put our Drive Me home video up there. WP - I'll get some pics etc to you if you email me again. Click the "email me" link on the blog and we'll work it out.

Jay - The Gibson thing is cool. They have kindly got involved with Camp Freddy, and as I have always just played Les Pauls, its perfect. The Gold Top was something I always wanted.

Flaming Heart - California would make a great single. We have to get our deal and make the rest of the album, and then see what we'll do about singles. But I agree with you - cool radio track. Its just a hard song to pull off live - different tunings etc. But we are working on it in rehearsal and we all wanna do it. We'll see...

Abby - I have been listening to Paris, Texas (the band, not the soundtrack!) some Ramones, and some Hoobastank recently. Also went to see Incubus here in LA - great show I thought.

OK - so I will get some stuff to White Pony, I'll get the video up next week, and I want to thank you for all the support. Doheny will continue to grow, and I would love this community to grow alongside. See y'all soon.

CF RADIO

Its Saturday again - and time for another Camp Freddy Radio extravaganza!! Dave is out of town again - Vegas, playing poker - so Donovan and I will try and make up for his absence. I know we have Flea's daughter scheduled as a guest. She has a band called The Tints and they will be coming in to play a track or two from the stuff they've been recording with Flea this week.
One of my new Gibson Les Pauls arrived yesterday - a Gold Top - and it is beautiful. I cant wait to bust it out at a show. I'll definately use it at next weeks Camp Freddy show at the Nascar race.
Yesterday was so busy for me that I had no time to post - we had rehearsal yesterday and worked on new stuff, plus we started to look at California, a track I never thought we would play live. But it sounded pretty good, so we'll keep going with it and see if it makes the grade live.
Here are a few answers to some questions.

Electric Mayhem and Julia - By all means share the Stimulator stuff. It's been a while since I heard it as well!!

WhitePony and Karen - Very generous of you - I will talk to Jon this week about the Drive Me home movie. I dont see any reason not to do it, now that you guys are offering the web space to host it. Once we have finished the live DVD idea, we will see how it turns out, and maybe we will offer it online as well.

Abby - We will be confirming more shows very soon. The Orgy dates were re-scheduled for October and I believe we will be announcing other dates as well. I will find out whats happening next week and let you know.

Stacey - Great question!! I never wanna hear any New Kids On The Block again, thats for sure!! Stuff like Freebird, or Stairway To Heaven will always be cool to hear though. Let me think about that one - I'll come up with some answers.

OK - thats it from me. I just want to thank everyone who has started to post regularly and a big shout to the 6767 crew - you guys over there have really got it going on. Gotta go get my playlist together for tonight. Have a great weekend and I'll be back on monday.

Peace
Billy

DRIVE ME (Home Video)

Not a lot happening today. It looks like it will be another day in front of the studio computer. Jon transfered the audio from the Viper show onto a drive, and I spent most of yesterday sorting it out and listening back to it. Its really interesting to hear exactly what everyone is playing at a show!! I did a rough mix of one song yesterday and I think it might work. At least I will give the mixes to the video people and see what they make of it. I also finished a rough home movie of Drive Me (the demo, and a bunch of footage cut to it....looks ok) and I wouldnt mind putting it up somewhere, but I dont know if we a) have space to host it, and b) how to have it in good enough quality. If someone knows how to put it up so that it looks GOOD, and has enough space to host it, drop me a line on email and we'll work it out. It would be nice to put it up and see what you all think of it.

Tina - Nice wallpaper!
Julia and Karen - Wow! So you both have the Strike EP?! The video was cool for that song - MTV played it a few times, but I dont think I have a copy anymore. There was another EP called "Burn" that we did - I doubt thats around though.
WhitePony - The whole Tee-shirts thing is just getting started and we will be doing more sizes as we build it up. Bear with us - its all home-grown at the moment.

Its too early for me to concentrate and I'm rambling....so I am off to consume caffeine and nicotine in equal amounts!! Have a good day guys.

CANCELLED!!

After last nights show in San Juan Capistrano, we found out that the other dates with Orgy have been postponed until October. No reason given - Ask Orgy if you really want to find out. We have no idea! All we know is that we played well last night and won over some people (props to the guy who grabbed the mic from Jon at the end of the set and started thanking us profusely for changing his life and coming to San Juan to play!!). No soundcheck at all, we threw the equipment on the stage and went for it. If you were there, I hope you had fun. As for the other dates, we will let you know as soon as we get word.

Stu and WhitePony - The DVD is just an idea. If the footage looks great and the audio sounds ok, we might have a download available on the site. I am mixing the audio as we speak, and the guys who filmed the show will edit to that. Give us a few weeks and we'll let you know how it turns out.

Natalie - Sorry about the cancellation. Nothing to do with us - we wanted to play today. But we will be doing the re-scheduled shows. Keep an eye on the site for details.

Holly - Who's Ian B? Do I know him?

Julia - We dont play any Stimulator...and out of interest, what songs do you have? We never released the album we made for Geffen, so I am glad somebody got to here it!!

Tina - I didnt get tattooed. Too busy. But I am having all my forearms from elbows to wrists re-done!!

Terry - I believe it is Steve Perkins doing the Vanity Fair shows in October. Matt will still be away with VR. And yes, I am the luckiest guy to get to play with all those people!

Thats it for now - hope to announce more dates as soon as our agent gets us some!! Nice to see more people emailing and sending in artwork and such (Thanks Karen - keep spreading the word.) Hopefully this will build into a great community. 'Till next time - have a great day

NIKE DUNKS

I have to confess to yet another addiction......I've had 'em all. But the current one is bringing me down bad!! Nike Dunk sneakers....I cannot stop. Anything in a size 9 or 9 1/2 is mine, all mine. I started buying them in Japan when I went with The Cult. When I got back, I stumbled across a whole bunch on E-Bay, and now I find specialised websites, stocking colorways I didn't know existed!! I just came across some silver and black ones (Raiders colors) that I really should buy cos its the start of the season and how can I not??!! I am insane. I must have 40 pairs of these things and STILL I need more. Kids - stay away!!

OK - thats enough rambling - gotta meet everyone and go do the first Orgy show in San Juan Capistrano today. Check out the pics from The Viper show I just put up. Taken by my very good friend Mike D (who is always there for us - thanks Mike...we love ya!) I put up a small selection for you all. We are also working on the possibility of a live 4 Track DVD available from the main site - www.dohenymusic.com. Not for sure yet, but we'll have a look at the footage and listen to the audio and we'll see what we have.

Jay - I was very young, but Bromley on a Saturday afternoon was an amazing place. Lots of colorful characters hanging out in Bonaparte Records in Market Square. Lots of local bands. Lots of us getting into trouble every week!!
Caine - When the time is right, and Doheny are ready for that, we'll go through the proper channels. Right now, Matt is riding his own rollercoaster and good luck to them.

Thats it from me for now. Thanks to everyone who's checked us out. Spread the word and we'll see you soon.

WELCOME TO THE ORGY

So this week is Orgy week!! No, we don't start wife swapping, and getting it on in the rehearsal room.....we go and play some shows with the band Orgy!! Tuesday 24th San Juan Capistrano Coach House, Wednesday 25th Agoura Hills Canyon Club and Friday 27th Long Beach The Vault 350. Hope to see some of you there. A big thanks to David who supplied the first round of Doheny Artwork - I put it up so check it out. Love the Pingu!!
Julia - My ideal tour would be opening for Incubus or maybe Velvet Revolver. And I do like Ours. Who would we take with us on our own tour? So many options, I dont know. I have been listening to the Hoobastank record, some old STP and a bit of David Bowie circa Diamond Dogs. Oh, and Jet's album and The Darkness album rock!
Abbey - Thank You! Glad you saw us and enjoyed it. See you at the next one.
WhitePony - Just keep spreading the word. Nice site!!

Today I am planning on working on a couple of new Doheny tunes that we have going on.....and I think I'm getting tattooed later on. Not sure, but if it works out, I'll post a pic of the work. Oh and by the way, the pic next to this post is a simple B+W version of the logo, in case the artistic types wanna get busy.

Have a great day people.

SUNDAY MORNING

Its a quick one this morning just to check in. I wanna let you know that the "email me" link is now active. The idea is that you send in Doheny related artwork, and we get it all up here somewhere. I think the limit for attachments is about 2meg. Keep the artwork maximum 800x600 @ 72 dpi and we should be all good. How about everyone designing Doheny flyers for street teams to download? Instant spreading of the good word!!

Jay - The set list from the Viper show was as follows: Fade Away, Drive Me. Watching It All Burn, Evergreen, Good Times, Take My Eyes, Dust, Falling Through and So Right. We have a few tunes like Time, Five Miles High and Summer that we switch out when we feel like it. And we have been working on a couple of new tunes recently - no titles yet, but we'll let you know.
Tina - I have no idea how that number works!! I will ask next week, but just try it. If it doesnt work, you wont get through!!
And Julia - We would LOVE to get a national tour going, but as I have said before, it really does cost a lot of money to keep a band on the road. The moment we are able, we will be there.

This pic I have used of me from the other night makes me laugh! It looks like I'm about to fall over!!
Thats it from me - Playstation 2 today - see you next week.
Peace

THE MORNING AFTER....

Well that was fun! The Doheny show at the Viper Room last night went great. Thank you so much to everyone who came out last night. The turn out was great, we played well, and I think everyone had a good night out. It was a long day - we spent a bunch of time before soundcheck working on the lights and making sure everything was working - so by the time we hit the stage (late as usual!!) I was pretty tired!! But the moment Fade Away kicked in, I was lost in it all. We played nine songs and the band rocked out. True to my word, I did give my guitar away - congratulations Mr Newman.....enjoy the axe!! - and we are now looking forward to getting out with Orgy next week for a few shows.
I believe we now have this blog linked to the main site - www.dohenymusic.com - so it should be easier to find. I will get that email address working this weekend and hopefully that will help build the Doheny community.

Questions - will the Camp Freddy show at the Wiltern be open to the public?
Posted by: Natalie | August 21, 2004 01:12 AM
Yes Natalie. The Wiltern will be a public show. Keep your eye on local press, and the CF and Vanity Fair sites for details of tickets.

So, what rock/Hollywood luminaries made the Viper gig? Let the name dropping begin...
Posted by: Jay | August 21, 2004 09:16 AM
Actually Jay, I have no idea! I didnt have time to look around before the show. I do know that my friend Steve Stevens came down so I'm glad I played well last night!!

Tonight is the Camp Freddy radio show on Indie 103.1FM. I wanna give a big shout out to the peeps over at 6767.com, who are all big supporters of the show. I'm afraid that tonight, we will be without Dave, who will be in Vegas, but I hope you guys listen in anyway. Have a great day and lets get this place jumping. Pass the word!!
Peace

RAINBOW SIX 3

Good morning. Today is The Viper show, and I think its gonna be a good one. Tickets have definitely sold well. I’m looking forward to getting down there later. I think I’m going to try and have a morning off – leave the cellphone switched off, don’t look at the emails – and just relax ‘till I have to go to soundcheck. Maybe I’ll play some more Rainbow Six 3 on X-Box. I’m playing the new one – “Black Arrow” and its killer!!
How’s this blog going? Anyone have any suggestions? I want to get an email address attached to this over the weekend, and once that’s up there, I wonder if anyone out there has doheny art, wallpaper, pics etc that they want to see posted up here. And how about an online chat at some point? Maybe Jon and I can figure out how to do that if anyone is interested.
Anyway – heres a few answers to questions:-

Suzanne - I will ask Scott when I next see him and find out about the art for you.

Karen – See above. We intend to make a great record, and tour the US as much as we can. It takes a while for a band to be able to afford to head out on the road. But believe me – we are all impatient to get started!

Caine – Ahhh, the old Camp Freddy album saga!! I cant tell you when it’ll come out, but I can tell you that it is definitely being made. We have tracked all the songs and have started (this week in fact) putting vocals, solos etc on the record. The list of guests will be revealed when the whole thing is finished. Patience!!!

Jay – hmmm. Cardboard Vampyres. I wish them all the best. And I think that both Billy and Jerry would be the first to tell you that the fun they both had doing the Freddy stuff was the catalyst for them beginning their own thing. I’m glad it worked out for them. And I enjoyed being a guest on a song at their LA show.

D Wez – Obviously, because a lot of people in the same business live in the same town, you become friends. And being able to invite friends to see you play is nice. Swanky do’s? Well, some parties are cool – others are rubbish. It’s the same on any level. Personally, I’d rather be playing video games.

Gonna turn the computer off now. I’ll post again tomorrow and write a diary of the show. Have a great day people.
Peace

RUNNING LATE ALREADY

Aaarrgghh!! Running late already today. Have a meeting or two this morning and then its Doheny rehearsal this afternoon for the show tomorrow. But it seems the Blog still works, nothings gone wrong, and I'm glad that some of you have found it. I will try and have it linked to the main site, so it doesnt get too confusing. I will also get an email address sorted out so that you guys can send in artwork, ideas etc. I'll need a few days to get that together. Here's some replies for right now -

Sweet! Who took the photos? And who did the artwork on the wall in the studio? Very nice!
Posted by: Suzanne | August 18, 2004 03:08 PM

The art on the wall is in Scotts studio - he has about seven of them all around the place. Amazing pieces, not sure who did them. Our band pic was shot by John Moore of MYF Clothing, and my individual shots were taken by David Zaugh (Los Angeles).

Hey Billy
just wondering if theres any news on doheny tracks, like a demo cd, or an album?!?
Posted by: Dal | August 18, 2004 03:59 PM

The Doheny demo tracks are floating around - Watching It All Burn is on MySpace.com, Drive Me is on our site, Time and Take My Eyes were around at the beginning of the year. We will put up album teasers once we have finished the album - and to do that, we need to get our deal.

Billy rumor has it that you are giving a guitar away at the viper room, and I really want to win your amazing white Les Paul guitar what do you think
Posted by: jenni | August 18, 2004 04:58 PM

....er....I love you all, but my White LP Custom is my baby!!! - not really the one I'm giving away!!! They dont make customs in that finish anymore.

so, i guess i wanted to ask whether those Scott Humphrey recordings are going to see the light of day? and how are things going with finding a label? maybe there's gonna be some sort of indie release first?
Posted by: Caine | August 19, 2004 02:11 AM

Caine - we are not sure if our release will be indie or major yet. We have to let our management do their thing. As far as I am concerned, the tracks we did with Scott are part of that album, and we would love to do the rest of the record with him. We worked great together. We just have to see how things work out for us. We obviously dont want to be putting tracks from our album up online until the whole record is out there.

So thats it from me - have to get outta here and get some Starbucks inside me. I will work on this over the weekend. Have a good time everyone, and hope to see some of you tomorrow at The Viper.
Peace

DAY ONE (addition)

Billy suit 2.jpg

I'm so pleased to see that this works! I just got up early today and tried to figure it out, and already we have people posting. I am writing this from the studio - I have just sung the lead vocal on Should I Stay (for the Camp Freddy album) and I'm waiting for Mike Clink, who is producing the record, to edit some of it, so I can go in and do some BV's.
So - questions.....:

Posted by LuvAstbury | August 18, 2004 10:36 AM
"What's about Nascar show??? I guess i didn't get it right, but you're talking about one's Doheny song and JS there?"

Well - what I meant by the NASCAR thing is that Jon will probably come along and sing a song with Camp Freddy that day - probably a Sex Pistols one.

Posted by: Steve | August 18, 2004 12:22 PM
Billy, I guess I'll throw out the first question:
How has your life changed since you answered the call from Billy Duffy to join The Cult?"

Steve - my life in the last few years has changed dramatically. First off, its been a while since I indulged my dubious passion for substance abuse!! That tends to change things! And although I was in The Cult for only a short while, things changed through being a part of such a great band. Camp Freddy, Doheny - all direct results of me answering that call!!

Gotta go sing some more. See you guys later.
Billy

DAY ONE

OK. It seems like I'm getting the hang of this. So my plans are this. I will attempt to post three or four times a week, and I encourage anyone to join in, make suggestions, help out and generally join in building a community here. Lets keep it positive - there are enough sites out there for the haters, and I just want to build good stuff here. Music lovers, computerphiles, freaks, outcasts and weirdos......all are welcome. I want to build a Doheny Street Team, I want to encourage Doheny artwork, in fact anything you can think of, I am open to.....

The show on Friday (20th) at The Viper is looking good. Pre sales are high, and I think it will be packed on the night. I am giving a guitar away that night - anyone who buys a ticket online (www.dohenymusic.com or www.viperroom.com) gets entered into the competition and I will pick a name on the night of the show, and give that person my Ibanez Iceman guitar (its the Paul Stanley Kiss guitar!!)

Today is a Camp Freddy day for me. The start of vocals on the album. I am singing on a track and thats what I am doing, along with Donovan doing some BV's with me. Jon will be singing a song with CF at the forthcoming NASCAR show on Sept 4th. I love when he gets up with CF - it feels right.

So I hope this builds into a nice place to come when you are online. I will be figuring out stuff as I go along. Gotta dash. Have a great day.
Peace
